  1. uh, well the E9 is a 16.4 liter V8 the E7 is a 12.8 liter 6 cylinder, the E9 has a lot more torque and the mileage is actually about the same since the E9 isnt really working hard, at least it has been for me , got 6.8mpg with an E7 400 and 6.8mpg with an E9 440 that made more like 600hp.
  2. re mount the plate to the dash and use the velcro strap to hold the radio to it, or if its missing go get one at your local Mack dealer or salvage yard, I have a buddy that mounted his radio high in a Granite, I cant stand it its in the way of everything and the headliner isnt strong enough to hold it for long.
  3. You dont have to go to Nashville for some nice wimmins,Murfreesboro has MTSU, plenty there and theres a purty good little adult entertainment venue in Smithville, the girls are mostly down from Cookeville paying their way thru TTU.
  4. We just don't have shows like that down here, I always figured it was because you guys up north only had about 9 months a year to get the nice stuff out.
  5. Looks like you came west on I24 from Chattanooga direction going over the river there, then I see ya headed east on I40 going by the lime plant and TVA Rock Island.
  6. OD, you were in McMinnville and didn't call or email, you had to pass me somewhere I was working in Nashville and Chattanooga all week and live off I24 exit 89.
  7. Napa choke cable to replace shut down $25, washer for shock absorber $1, radiator support bushings $25 total $51, doing it your way and not spending a dime, priceless!
  8. GRRRRRRR! why the hell should I have to pay for someone else to live indoors, they dont want to pay rent go sleep in a dumpster, better yet go fall off a cliff and leave me the f#@& alone!
  9. Good point, how long is the truck in question? Measure center of the front axle to center of the rear axle kind of eyeballing where the bed will be and you can figure your bridge weight and get a better feel for your available capacity, with a 20' bed you can probably get in there with a 22' wheelbase and keep enough weight on the rear tandems and off the steer, good rule of thumb is to get 60% of the bed forward of the tandem center line to get your weight distributed. with a 22' wheelbase on 3 axles your gross will be 52500, go to 24' and you go up to 54000, add a tag for 4 axles in 22' and you get 56500, and 58000 for 24' if you stretch to 26' with 4 axles you get 59500. I dont know what kind of weight you are planning to haul but a light duty hydraulic brake tandem is not gonna like stopping 59500, its not gonna like stopping 52500 actually and it may not stop 59500. You might be better off to go with a little heavier truck or a lighter single axle tractor and single axle lowboy trailer, with that setup and the added length you get back up to the 58000 to 60000 legal gross category and its a whole lot easier to drive and stops a lot better too. Im all for straight trucks too and having an old IH thats in good shape wouldnt be a bad thing wither its all in what your willing to pay for and more importatnly what your end goal is.
  10. And Macks headlight wiring still holds up better and is easier to fix too.
  11. I hate to see an old American LaFrance get cut up, but thats gonna be freakin sweet!
  12. Mechanical E7 or VMAC 1 electronic pump truck? does it have an engine brake?
  13. I would vote for a lightweight steer tag with airbags and a 12v compressor. my reasoning being with a steer tag you don't have to raise it to turn just to back up and a 12v compressor is gonna be slow to move the air needed to get 40psi in those bags. Also look into the old style spring up air down like neway they would be easier on a compressor too but id still add a 5-10gal air tank to run your valve from, gives you limited air tool capability too.
  14. Concordia MO huh, I went to school there at St Pauls my 9th grade year. That town was Nuthin but a boarding school and a truck stop back then. Sweet truck looks great in the pics. I used to have a room on the back of the third floor of the guys dorm, I drew many a truck picture from what I saw out my window on 70.
