  1. I think I remember seeing some info on the Mack big 6 testing and power output, I want to say it was comperable to the E9 something like 450hp, 1550tq maybe, Ill have to dig thru my stuff and see if I can find it again.
  2. I got me a TV, but it aitn huuked into nuthin! I refuse to pay for TV and Im too lazy to get into the attic and hook up the antenna that I took up there a few months ago, I prefer to keep busy or rest without more drama in my life, I can choose to watch a good movie on DVD or choose to sit in a rocking chair quietly watching my dogs run around chasing something.
  3. Yeah that one is high for sure, however the truck prices here south of IN,IL,WV,VA and north of the coast are higher than the northern trucks because they dont get the yearly salt bath and are not as prone to rusting in half. I have seen several trucks guys are still running that if they were up norht would be complete rust buckets and barely restorable, when I worked for Howard Baer it was amazing to me the difference in the trucks from one city to another. I remember going to Cincinnattii OH, and Detroit MI, and looking at the same trucks we were running out of the Nashville TN, Murfreesboro TN, and Atlanta GA offices the comparison was ridicluous, we had 96/97 model Mack CH's running milk in Atlanta everyday and up north they had 2001's that were falling apart with almost no paint left on the frame. I think they got rid of the last 97 CH from Nashville back in about 2006 but they were already selling the 2001/2002 KW's and Freightliners that went to MI,OH.
  4. I know where theres a B model with a spring ride rear tag Ill see if I can go get some pics of it one day.
  5. Wonder if they'd let me have the cutaway E9 for my livingroom.
  6. Ya know the pickup getting fucked up is just great, wonder if they have their $1 million cargo insurance? I bet they dont, wonder how they'll pay for the damage?
  7. I can't believe somebody bought 5 new trucks and never used em in 18 years. They would be a serious addition to a mack guys garage, I mean come on you could actually say " yep, I have a 96 RD with 200 actual miles".
  8. I understand, both posts actually, Ive already done the owner op thing both with road tractors and dump trucks, I know it can be a pain but I was a whole lot happier trucking than I am now. I am looking at it like this, I cant see myself doing this job another 27 years and thats what it will take for me to earn my retirement, its gonna suck to loose the benefits but Ill be in a lot better frame of mind (I think). I only got out of trucking because of the timing really, I decided I had to have my 84 Superliner in 2006 when it was getting pretty tough out there, then I had a heck of a time working both trucks when the housing market tanked, so I sold one, then another until I was out. I had a way out, a lot of folks didnt and Im glad it worked for me I sold the trucks I had, paid off my debts bought a pickup truck and put several thousand dollars in the bank, pretty good outcome for trucking in late 2007 early 2008. I had always wanted a job at the Railroad for the benefits not the money and I actually applied for several different jobs, all the guys I talked to about it were happy but I was asking back in 2005-2007 now those same guys are sick of it and hate their jobs like me. I guess its the way things have changed in corporate america that I hate, it seems to me like the lawyers actually run CSX not the officials, I mean I have to wear safety glasses in a vehicle if the window is down because somebody got a bug in their eye, I had to get rid of my bungee cords because someone let one smack him in the face, it just goes on and on and it has changed for the worse in my short 3 year railroad career. I hope Im right about my idea to go back to dump trucking, if not Im gonna be miserable for a while cause if I buy one now I dont have enough cash after buying my house and working here to pay much down so ill have to pay it down for a while or take a loss and Im not really into that. I guess I could go back overseas and work for the DOD again, it paid awful good(I wonder if they have new body armor yet) I got some hand me downs when I was there. Hell Sleepy I even thought of doing heavy haul the Superliner has a doub le frame and 44 rears, and now that I stretched it I got all kinds of room for a tag axle.
  9. looking at Truckpaper again and I ran across this one, this cant be right, can it? someone has 5 never used 96 RD's, hard to believe. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4338347
  10. I would want to see receipts for replacing maina nd rod bearings and an oil sample, the biggest thing you may run into is the engine run on its side and burned up a bearing in the bottom end, other than that everything is fixable, the 14L 515 Detroit is a pretty decent engine, not as reliable as the pre 07 series 60 12.7 but not bad, the egr and turbo will be your trouble spots.
  11. Theyre both green!
  12. an E9 will go into a long hood R, the issue is the moun ting depth in the frame because of the width of the engine, I have pics of one in an RS700L somewhere but I cant find em right now. I dont htinik a Marine E9 would be too great to buy for a truck, b y the time you got everything you needed to put it in a truck you could have gotten a stock E9 truck engine and talked with Antrim Diesel and gotten their turbo and injectors and turned up your pump and BAM! you got 750-800 rwhp, thats more like 900 on the flywheel, oh yeah buy a really good clutch, ask MHE9.
  13. 3.65's on 11R24.5's and your good for about 78@2000rpm in direct, lol I may have to swap down to some 3.86's if I keep the Superliner in its present form to get it into high gear on the interstate, right now if I had a 13 speed I could cruise all day in 12th and never hit high gear but the 9 speed makes it more difficult so I end up running like 75-78mph to get it to 1550-1600rpm where it pulls great.
  14. yeah, my last triaxle Granite had a 16' hardox body and weighed in at 26300, and I have already pondered the Superdog Quad idea, its already double frame and 44k rears on camelback.
  15. Oh and I do deal with stuff when it breaks thats actually what I do, and I cant even make them remove the operator or even say anything to them now, so they just do tha same thing in another week or two and I go back and do it again, pretty frustrating. I dont want the dual steer, that adds weight and more wear parts and that defeats the purpose of more axles and a lighter truck to me, Im looking to be able to haul more payload than the other guy which means I need to have 5 axles with about a 22 or 23' bridge and be lighter than a triaxle.
  16. TN is 74,000 on tri and 80,000 on 5 axles but the fed bridge is the key, they arent letting guys get on highway jobs with more than 51000 or so since most 16' bed triaxles are only legal for 51000-51500, with a quad granitre with an 18' bed Id be legal for 61500, pretty big increase, not to mention the 80k on state roads thats 3 tons more per load. The railroad is just getting pretty screwed up to me, I have a new manager and I havent been able to actually work my bid in 5-8's shift since he started its been more like 5-12's and I dont get paid for that. I also had a bid in job for Nashville and I have been going to Memphis, Bowling Green, Cowan, Gallatin and more and while that may not sound that bad and I wouldnt have complained in the past, I bid in the job I have to work the 5-8's and the Nashville Terminal, not the whole division and work 12-14 hours a day. Im not really a corporate team player either I guess, I dont like the he said she said that goes on and having to listen to all the bs.
  17. This years Chrome and Class show by Chrome Country at Rush Truck center Smyrna TN is set for Saturday Oct 19th contact Chrome Country for info and registration. 615-220-7730
  18. This years show is at the Hyder Burke ag pavilion in Cookeville TN Sept 27/28 I'll be there Saturday the 28th. More info is on the ATHS website calendar.
  19. Ya know we have the Music City ATHS show the same weekend in Cookeville TN.
  20. Ok I gotta know what's up with the Blue Bird bus with the B model front end on it.
  21. I think I like that Pete more because it doesn't have any emblems on it than anything else, that means there's a chance that the "I drive a Peterbilt" mentality isn't too severe. That and like above its not overdone just clean smooth lines, not a lot of mismatched lights and stick on stainless.
  22. Air shift? We don't need no stinkin air shift!
  23. When I bought my 85 I had to replace two of the three brake valves in the dash just to build enough pressure to load it on the trailer. I think they were like $30 ea from Mack and the new knobs were another $10 ea. Well worth it since they wear over time to just swap em out for $80 and not look at em again for another 27 years.
  24. Hey I say "and we thank you for your support" at least once a week, lol! I have several projects keeping me from workin on my dog too, maybe things will change soon.
  25. Ok so I guess I might need to get back to truckin and say adios to the railroad. So anyway I'm looking for a nice quad axle dump truck, round an 18' aluminum bed anything from an R up to a Granite will be considered. I'm also looking for insight from others on quads, we have run triaxles here since I've been alive but they are starting to look at weights. Any info or possible trucks for sale appreciated, thanks in advance.
