  1. Did someone say happy time? Damn and I'm not wearing beer goggles!
  2. I made it quite clear, unless they had an older Mack or W900A model, I wasnt a prospective customer I was just a guy talking trucks with them
  3. wish I had the Vinny.gif, Id post it again, it were funny
  4. I live on a ridge(not really mountains), and id be glad to get some help on the Superliner, mechanicing can get boring by yourself I do it every day on the railroad, dont know what foxing a vehicle is but id watch!
  5. said you checked all the connections what about the cooler itself.
  6. Is this an older pic or did you pull the stacks and visor again?
  7. I voted for the 70's-80's for this reason alone, I dont think there has ever been or will ever be a better lineup of hill flattening powerhouse engines than there were thru that era by all the manufacturers, (the E9 was the king though). Think about it, you had the Cat 1693, 3406A and B modelsand the 3408 V8, the NTC,904,and KT Cummins, the 8V92 and 12V71 Detroit, and the Mack 865 and E9 V8's, the E6 4 valve, the E7, you cant argue with the numbers, the 70's and 80's were all about the power. Oh and anybody that wants to get into a "but my MP10 has 605hp" or "my C15 has 625 hp" argument, just go drive an old E9 500, or a 3406B model 425, youll be ready to trade that newer truck on a Superliner, or a W900A tomorrow.
  8. Was it white smoke or light blue fuel smoke, like from incomplete combustion due to low compression or bad injector nozzles? I dont think your egt's would get that high if you were burning water that tends to cool the cylinder temps not the other way around, same for low compression due to a bad head gasket it wouldnt get hotter it would be cooler, take the radiator cap off and rev it up see if you get bubbles, bubbles means compression in the cooling system, that and you would be getting some tannish colored peanut butter looking stuff in your cooling system, pull the coolant filter and look at it.
  9. Your still running it with 1200 degree egt's? well did you check the whole charge air system for leaks, you should see bubbles if you spray it down, have you thought about pulling your injector nozzles? Im still thinking if you dont have any charge air leaks its getting too hot and has too much fuel smoke, that combined with low power makes me want to pull the nozzles and look for one or more to be melted.
  10. With egt that's high you have too much fuel and not enough air or some slobbering injector nozzles that aren't atomizing your fuel. One things for sure you'll burn that sucker down if you drive it like that long, I try to keep my egt around 900-1000 on long pulls loaded heavy normal driving light they shouldn't top 700-800 depending on.how hot your pump/injectors are. Check to make sure your not losing your charge air and if not, remove the cold (intake manifold) side charge air pipe and see what kind of flow your getting thru the cooler, it would be odd but possible for a blockage or internal damage to restrict the charge air flow thru the cooler.
  11. The OD shouldn't matter at all, back when your truck was built the metals weren't available to make it both thin and strong like today so most parts were twice as thick as their newer updated counterparts. Good luck anything in that ballpark should work out fine, just make sure your rod ends are an exact match to the taper on those I listed so they fit your spindles properly.
  12. Just really depends on what your looking for, as stated above its a set forward (713) or (set back 813) front axle, the other stuff is just something else to play with when your bored, if you are looking for bridge weight and ride I would go with the set forward, if your looking for maneuverability id go with the set back. I like the looks of the 713 a lot better than the 813, Im a set forward kinda guy the 713 would be your R model like version and the 813 would be your CL equivalent.
  13. I talked to the KW guys at Mid America about that T880 truck one of them told me flat out he didnt like the new looks either but they wanted a vocational truck with the wider cab to compete with Freightliner and Western Star interior room, thats what they came up with as a compromise of the T800 and the wide cab line, it is roomy inside but I just hate the front end.
  14. ok looks like that assy wont have the right ends for your knuckle the taper is different, you can use a E-4607 rh and an E-4606 LH end with an E-9957 tube, the tube is 59.34" long and the ends are 4.875" long stud center to end that will give you approx 2.5" of thread in the tube on each end. hope that helps ya it should work out great.
  15. Sorry I have been stupid busy, had to go to Memphis today to work on a Backhoe and now I have to go to KY tomorrow to work on a Jordan Spreader, Im trying to get confirmation but looks like a E4611/E4610 and a E9957 or E9958 crosstube, both tubes are 1.125"x12 thread the 9957 is 59.34" long the 9958 is 55.49". there is also a p/n for a universal crosstube/tie rod assy. p/n E9959 it is listed as adjustable from 63.86" to 66.14" so your dead in the center of the threads with it and its the same rod size of 1.125"-12 tube diameter of 1.5". All thesed are Euclid numbers so check em out and see what you can get for pricing and availability, im checking to see if the tapers on the ends of the assy. are the same as yours.
  16. How much boost are you making with the new turbo? Did you idle the truck up to about 1000rpm and spray soapy water all over all the charge air pipes and intercooler to make sure it wasn't leaking? How high are the egt's?
  17. Ha, and the r model shines in that area, you can almost adjust the pass side mirror.
  18. That RW looks too good to scrap, id drop an engine in it, then you'd have a v8 Superliner with all aluminum wheels and tanks, nice.
  19. I'll look it up tomorrow, all you really need is for 50% or more of the threads to be inside the tube when its in adjustment, I'm pretty sure I can get a combination that will work out of my books. That was 64.5" end bolt to end bolt centers when they are tight in the knuckles right?
  20. A big part of the leg room issue in the CH/CL trucks was the choice of seat. I have a friend that swapped a Mack factory high back bostrom with a low ride and the legroom improved noticably with the change in the angle of your knees. I swapped a high back sticker in an RD for a low ride mid back several years ago and that was the ticket, better angle for your legs, and because was shorter it moved back an inch further. I'm planning on putting two Bostrom T series low ride mid back seats in blue cloth in the Superliner when I can afford it.
  21. Gets better all the time, keep it up you'll be able to.charge for rides next year at Macungie.
  22. When the dash changed in what 02-03 it was a huge improvement and then when they changed again and added the 3 or 4" extension to the cab in 07-08 it made another leap, I dont even have to slide the seat allt he way back in the new cabs to get comfy and im 6'1" and all legs. I think its something like 6" more between the dash and the back of the cab from an R model to the new Granites I measured once but I cant remember, big difference for sure, the seats are still too close to the door though.
  23. How many options are they going to drop before they just drop the trucks themselves.
  24. how long is the cross tube you have? just measure it and the ends and get one that equals the same length not really a big deal I can get it all out of my book if you measure it for me. just measure the tube from end to end and measure from tie rod end to tie rod end (bolt center to bolt center) I would guess since the 10QH38 or E-4607 is 4.875" lomg, we would need to get you a pair fo 4.875" ends and a cross tube, looks like a E-4611 curbside and an E-4610 roadside both coarse thread and 4.875" long will do for ends then we just ned to know how long of a tube to get.
  25. Yeah the Superliner 1 and Cruise liners had axle mounted steering boxes, all I have seen from the setup is leaking lines and worn out boxes. I much prefer the frame mounted boxes on the Superliner 2 and MH chassis.
