  1. Has, anyone else noticed the skyrocketing cost of hookers lately? I'm just asking for, um a friend yeah! That's it, a friend.
  2. Ok so ill throw a pic in there just for the heck of it......
  3. And of course as if on cue to a disaster a Howard Baer truck rolls by, damn! I worked for them for a while and there was always some kind of dramam going on with Howard Baer trucks, had one in AL that had a concrete parking curb thrown off an embankment into the cab at 70mph, had one driver pass out and go from the southbound lane across the northbound lanes of a 6 lane interstate, thru two fences, across a two lane road, and into a paking lot almost perfectly in between the lines and never touched anything on the way.
  4. Wel congrats on the E9 truck, you get it right youll never want to drive anything else (especially with a 12spd backing it up). The tach drive cable ends are an issue I have replaced them on both my E9 trucks, the tach drive output adapter(that 90 degree thing on the end of the pump) also has issues. To troubleshoot the tach inop remove the cable from the top of the 90 degree adapter on the pump and start the engine, look to make sure its turning inside if not replace it the gears are stripped, if thats good re attatch it and remove the cable from the rear of the tach there is a plastic tip on the cable that may be spun off, while your there make sure the tach spins freely they go bad and strip the cable ends. On the Dynatard engine brake they have only one stage and if its coughing and sputtering it probably needs a rebuild of the cylinders and the valves adjusted its not that big a deal, PAI offers a rebuild kit for the Dynatard on an E9 p/n EKT-1170,I cant remember what it costs but it wasnt bad and can be found thru any PAI distributor like Fleetpride. When you get the overhead run make sure the pressed in guide studs under the saddles arent loose if so pull them out and replace them using a good lock tite bonding product and let em dry before you put the valve covers back on. Good luck with the E9 they are awesome engines when theyre right, youll love it making fun of those Petes on hills.
  5. So has anybody else ever just wanted to actually try to stare a hole thru someone? I went to McDonald's earlier and the moron taking my order......long story short it didn't work today, but I've got a good feeling about tomorrow!
  6. Oh yu wan happy ending, dat $20 more! Ha, I had too!
  7. I know what that thing is under the pile of scrap in that last pic..........its a wood pallet! Lol, just kidding, I don't know much about the B era parts but as a parts junkie that's a great haul.
  8. Hubs, Brake drums and wheels, yep, might be good to put in new bearings and brake shoes while your there but yep thats it the minimum is hub, drum, wheel.
  9. This thread has kinda been like Seinfeld, its a show about nothing but everybody watched it.
  10. are DRY and OREGON allowed to be in the same sentence? lol
  11. My wallets so shallow a whole $1 bill won't fit in all the way, lol. I wish I had a bottomless wallet id have 23acres full of old Macks to play with.
  12. Youll be glad you did in the end, if your going from 11R24.5's on spokes to aluminum hub piloted hubs and aluminum wheels with 11R24.5's youll drop around 300#, at least the one I helped do the swap on dropped right at 300#.
  13. Damn, thats a tough break there, not sure which is worse I got a few friends with Sterlings that the dash is falling out of. Oh and its a Sterling, of course you can take some solace int he fact that they arent making them anymore so theres no chance of getting a new one.
  14. I'm like all the others keep it Mack, that said if I wanted to do a diesel swap I would look for a C series 8.3 cummins maybe settle for a B5.9. I would shy away from a used 3116, while they are a decent engine when right they are hell to keep right and once a cylinder or the head has an issue 9 times out of 10 the engine is trash. I really prefer the 8.3 210-275hp Cummins, the C series is known for bulletproof reliability and they are easy to work on and fully rebuild able. Well there's my two cents I try an 8.3 with a 6spd and your aux or a straight 9 or 10 spd, I drove a KW T300 with a C 275hp and a rto9513 and 4.10 rears that was a great setup.
  15. Dont complain about them not having anything to move their stuff with it gives you work so its a good thing. Im trying to decide on a trailer to start moving some stuff with the Superliner now, I found a 45' 35tn paver lowboy in Knoxville I may go check out sunday, im either gonna go that route or get a 45-48' drop deck and add a beavertail and ramps.
  16. I was ignoring that, but yeah overtorque will stretch em and they'll never stay tight.
  17. I have 1 gallon buckets over my 6" miter cut stacks to keep the rain out. I found the easy way to get em back off at 12'6" tall is just hit the key on the old E9, it throws em both off a few feet at start up.
  18. Looks like you need a daycab R and s 35tn lowboy trailer with all this equipment moving.
  19. Wow, that sounds like a pain to get right, you need to swap to negative ground, so change all the guages, and engine wiring wires to the other post, the lights dont care. Then you would need to swap your batteries to two 12v 31s950's should start fine after that, I would add a battery disconnect switch just because if it were me then they wont be able to pull down in storage as quickly.
  20. crap, wasnt done, you could still get a set of shutters as an option from most manufacturers on up into the 90's, we had a few Blue Bird buses with them even though they had 8.3 Cummins with charge air cooling. The big difference was that there was a switch for cold weather operation in the cab or a valve or switch mounted near the shutters to keep them open (spring open air close) during warm weather to keep the egt's down.
  21. Shutters pretty much went away with the introduction of chassis mounted charge air coolers. They were great for warming up an engine but the newer high compression engines needed intercooling to keep temps in check so they did more harm than good.
  22. I would if I had an overhead crane that would lift it.
  23. Ok the Brockway school bus is freakin awesome I have always wanted to take a Blue Bird conventional body and put it on an R400 chassis.
  24. GOOD GOD, WTF MAN? Ok I get it Mack is now Volvo, please stop finding things to complain about. Please!
  25. With a 5tn crane id pull the body and use the time the cylinders were out to give the body a good once over for cracks and such, maybe even paint!
