  8. If you are planning on an Antique plate in Pennsylvania be sure that the title is not "tagged" as a modified truck (maybe changed to a tanden?). Modified or reconstructed titled trucks in Pennsylvania cannot get Antique plates. The only other choice would be regular commercial registration- $1000 to $2500 a year. I was able to get a "Collectible" plate after six weeks of effort for my B75 which was changed from a single axle to a tandem. Nothing about the system in Pennsylvania is to be easy.
  9. I run 2 old trucks- a 1985 RW 613 and a 1963 B-75 strictly as a hobby. Usually run about 5000 miles a year- about half the miles are bobtail and half pulling a lowboy trailer hauling antique Caterpillar equipment to shows and demonstrations- mostly in Pennsylvania with a few trips as far west as Iowa and occasionally up into New York State. Since about 1990 I have maintained an IFTA account for the trucks. I submit the quarterly reports and at least 1 each year is a “no activity” report (I don’t run in the snow and salt). I got a notice in September that I was being audited for the last 4 years. There was a long list of records that the auditor was to have available for review. He called to set up an appointment and I explained that this was not a business and was completely non-commercial. He discussed it with his supervisor who said “do the audit”. We set up the appointment and he was at my house for several hours and did a complete audit of all my records since the last quarter of 2006. I keep good records (for the most part) and that helped a great deal. He even compared mileages that I reported to the Rand McNally mileage program on the computer. All of my fuel receipts were compared to what I had reported. The auditor was professional and pleasant and gave me some instruction and ideas to make my reporting easier The final outcome was good- I had overpaid just over $100. If you don’t have a good system of record keeping an audit like this would have been a nightmare. Record every trip- write down the mileages by each state travelled and keep those fuel receipts.
  10. Doug- Could you reprint the directions to the Customer Center. I had trouble using the GPS to get to the address on the flyer- it brings you in at the other end of the road where there is a big chain link gate. Thanks Phildirt

  14. I agree with Paul- On my RW 613 the inner and outer frame rails were separated almost 3/4" just in back of the sleeper. As the two parts were forced apart you could watch the rails regain their original shape. I would never have thought they would come back in line. I sand- blasted to white metal on the mating surfaces and coated with Zero Rust coating. See the attached picture- the inner rails are on the ground under the frame. Phildirt
  15. brake and wheel parts made for the old Rogers Brothers trailers are extremely difficult/ impossible to find- if you break or have to replace parts you are s.o.l.

  17. Does anybody know what happened to the "Double Clutch" magazine? I have a two- year subscription and have not had an issue since April/ May. There are a couple of topics on the ATCA bulletin board about the magazine, but no answers that made any sense to me- Is the magazine is still in business? Thanks.

  19. What ever happened to the guy (Johnson ?) at the ATHS (Wheels of Time magazine) that was going to get us all exempted from the IFTA requirements? He was making a big deal in the magazine of going to the national meetings and getting an exemption voted on. Then I never heard anything more. I have two truck tractors - one with a PA "Collectible" plate and one with a PA "Classic" plate. The IFTA people in insist that I do the quarterly reporting and payments. Phildirt

  25. 001705 was ordered by "General Sales" near the end of the run. The attached .pdf shows what it was ordered with and what the engine and transmission was when it left Hagerstown.
