  1. My only concern would be clogging up valves and what not, but if it's safe in a/c systems I don't see why it wouldn't be cool in air systems as well. I've got a couple of pesky air leaks I've been tracking down on my RD, too. Sometimes if I can track it down to a somewhat certain spot, I'll spray a little soapy water on it to pinpoint where it is. I think a couple of years of running open cab TS 14 Euclid scrapers with twin 471 green leaker screamin demons has forever limited my air leak finding abilities by hearing alone. LOL
  2. I've witnessed the sailboat-u model video before. Definitely ballsy.
  3. I have a bottom brow on my rd that kind of helps with the brightness.
  4. Does it cut down on heat as much as it deadens sound?
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. Thanks for the input, guys! I've been running it and watching it really close for about a year, but it looks like it may be trying to spread a little bit. I guess I'd better get my ass in gear and patch it up.
  7. Never heard of it, but Ole' Waylon and Old Macks are two of my favorite things. I sure would love to see it! I wonder if it still exists?
  8. I know what y'all mean.. It will have a pretty easy life, though. I'm just a one man show, and I do 90% of my hauling with my tri axle. I just need an end dump for the occasional 60 mile haul when I'm delivering rock to a hunting club out in the sticks or something. I'm going to say it may get 5K miles annually, where as I put about 20K on my tri axle. I'm kind of torn, too.
  9. Well said, Barry. I don't think I'll be visiting Hank's again.
  10. Okay, I think I've finally made up my mind to buy this truck, but I'd like to ask you guys' opinions on a couple of things. First of all, I noticed that the steering box is mounted on the outside of the frame, as opposed to inside with the pitman arm shaft going through the frame. If I was to add power steering in the future, is there an outboard mounted p/s gear available? I'm guessing maybe a Valueliner would be set up that way? Second, I know a five speed is bulletproof, but I'm going to be pulling a dump trailer and maybe a log trailer, and I sure would like a couple of lower gears to start out with. I'm thinking either a two stick six speed or slap a Spicer 4 speed auxillary behind the factory 5 speed. Third, and most important, with a truck this clean and original, do y'all think I'd be comitting a crime if I went to modifying on it, even if it is to improve its usefullness?
  11. Welcome aboard, Jack!
  12. Man, that would be something! Gonna have to put that on my bucket list.
  13. Heck, it's worth it. I figured we were a little on the cheap side down here.
  14. Way to do it right! Nice Superdog, by the way!
  15. Just for the sake of curiosity, what do y'all charge for a triaxle by the hour up there? I try to start out at $75, but I've been as cheap as $ 65. Just depends on the job.
  16. I run a 15.5' Ox Body and it's plenty long enough for me. We're only allowed 62K on a triaxle in AR, though.
  17. I gotcha. That IH would have a Shepard M100 mounted on the outside of the frame right? Is that why you went with the inner glove? I'm thinking outer so I don't have to modify on the steering gear any, other than some longer bolts. I'm just dreading it, because welding's not one of my strong points yet.
  18. I only run a dump truck so I'm camelback all the way. If I was running on the highway only, I'm sure I'd go with air ride.
  19. Looks like a sweet little tractor! My uncle had a D4 when I was little. I think it was a 7U series? I remember it having a pull rope to crank the pony motor.
  20. It kind of shares a likeness to a Diamond T or a Sterling, doesn't it? Pretty sharp, indeed.
  21. Yep, I believe it was in WOT a couple of years back. Something about Turner was in the moving business and took a job moving equipment at the Mack plant. Apparently the design team got their cameras out for some recon. I thought that was a pretty neat story, myself.
  22. Other than the "which one's the clutch again?" questions, she didn't do too bad. Just moving it around in first gear for me. Shifting is a lesson we're gonna save for next time.
  23. I bought new door panels for my rd last year from Mack. I want to say they were $200 / side? I believe the gold dog means all maxidyne, yes.
  24. That's gorgeous, Mike! Do you still have that one?
