When I was a kid back in first or second grade, we had a thing called 'Show an Tell', and all the kids would bring in all kinds of stuff from home, well I would bring in all kinds of truck stuff from my Dad's truck garage!! Point's, condedsors one time I brought in a generator! But the very best thing that I brought was a Brockway Husky dog an a Mack Bulldog! It was a big hit!BULLHUSK

OMG!!!! Mark Mark Mark!!...... My good friend my Mack buddy my Jersey brother!!! Brockway did not go under!!! they were in fact doin better then Mack there parent co.!! and after loosin to many bids to Brockway, Mack shut them DOWN!!!! Look up how Mack closed them, it wasn't very nice!! Thats why sometimes when I see how good Mack is doin, I think maybe Volvo might do the same thing? Back in the late 60's, A lot of the cement haulers like myself used the U's with the Mack V8 naturals, we had the exhaust unloaders back then and the V8 Macks and Cummins 903's would blow the loads off about 10 min. faster! By the way we could not use the 318 Detroits with the turbo conveyors unloaders because of the back pressure, after about 5 minutes they would start blowing the oil out of the crankcase! Back in the day the U's with the V8's ...... Now that was the the cement haulers dream, and they lasted and took the pounding! untill they put turbos on them BULLHUSK

The frame on the U and R is stright, But on the DM (Dumper Mixer) the frame is deeper from under the cab, too behind the cab and then tapers to a stright frame. I forgot what the depth to and fro is BULLHUSK

Tim, They were not power down pistons, they were frame mounted plated to a trip. frame, what we did do on these trucks , if you noticed is that the two exh. stacks flow out of the pass. side cause of the noise. The trucks also had 5X4 Double O's trans. with bucket rears. You see those air breathers!! Colonial put those on all of there equipment including there tug boats BULLHUSK

David, Mopar's Mack's an Brock's and now Bantam's!! LOL

We have 2 Hyster's and a Yale for our brick yard in JC, the one Hyster is a 3000 lb machine the other two are 5500 lb machines, and we could not live out them in the shop!! We use them for pullin engines an even pullin the rears in our tractors!! But what i like best about them is when your pullin an engine out of a Mopar you can still get under the car (nothin on the sides like some of the engine lifts) Thats a nice old machine you got there! Does it have a Mopar engine? I think some of them had the Chrysler flat head an the later ones had slant 6 ind. motors. Good luck with her BULLHUSK

I would keep the old girl just the way she was built!........... But if I were you, I would go on line to truckpaper.com and see if you could pick up one of those R700 that they have for sale and transplant a nice E9-500 V8 Mack motor under the hood!!! WOW WA WEE AH !! BULLHUSK
