Rob,Could you imagine?? 15,500 US dollars?? I mean, I just had to check with the rest of you guys to just make sure I wasn't passing up the Hope Diamond of R700's here!! Hey Superdog, I think it was Teddy Roosevelt, when asked about the Panama Canal "We stole it fair an square" LOL.. The only sad thing about it is.... For a brief moment there yesterday I'm thinkin (holy s--t my Rl700's worth 250,000 I hit the Mother Load!!) Oh well back to the couch!!

Take a look an tell me what you think? Frame on truck has been spliced an stretched (not the way I would have done it) the roof is rotted through around the drip drain an under the cab beheind the doors, the engine is inside an all apart. Ok the V12 has, I think all the parts except for the pistons, the two heads are laying on the floor face down(not a good thing) the crank an the cams have to be removed an polished(maybe cut) Asking price 15,500 yes fifteen thousand five hundred.....is it just me? or am I just a cheap bastard?? orrrr could the truck be over priced?? please help me out here!! I have said It before an I'll say it again; I DON'T TRUST VOLVO plain an simple!! Now let me tell you a story about a dealer up here in No Jersey, back around 1989? I ordered 4 Autocar's with 10.5 yd mixer's for a friend of mine in Jersey, Series 60 DD 8LL RR 58,000 Eaton's in the rear flll deep double frame..A real nice truck!! 8 weeks later... in come 6 brand new VOLVO'S YES VOLVO'S with the big V an the big plastic piece going from one corner to the other corner on the grill!! So now comes the good part.. My friends son is friends with the owner's son of the White Volve dealership, after I sent the speck in he called an told the kid how he could save him 4,000 dollars per truck just by selling him a Volvo!! the only difference is the Volvo cab vs the Autocar cab an you would be paying of course the A-Car name Well I went crazy on the Volvo crew!! To start the frame was lighter an the stops on the front axle were almost touching the frame M/T plus these trucks had 300 gl. water tanks overhead!! Well they wound up takin the trucks after they took another 3000 of the price per truck!! Needless to say they didn't last very long!! Now my point here is (an again I hope I'm wrong) Volvo hated the fact that Autocar build a better truck then they could have ever built an they couldn't sell the Volvo to the heavy class 8 crowd (mixer dump heavy haul) so they got rid of Autocar an sold it to a co that can only sell there cab over Garbage truck type. So now when you go into the dealership what do they push to cell?? the Volvo why?? because no one wants the CRAP but now Mack is selling a lot of road trucks ie ABF UPS an they are still doing good with the dumper's an the mixer's an I'm sure thats pissing the big shot's over in Euro. Volvo OFF. So start lookin for the little things to start happening like Volvo engines Volvo cabs, an then before our very EYES!!! THE BIG V ON THE FRONT GRILL OF A MACK!!!!!!! God help us! I Hope I am wrong!! An that's all I have to say about that!BULLHUSK

I brought the 700 into the shop today, I have my friend Steve tearin into the 12-71!! Well so far It aint lookin to bad!! It seems that the two heads have been re-done an have not even seen oil yet, Steve pulled the pan down an It looks like they changed 3 liners an pistons (just as the pref. owner had stated) also the inside of the bottom end is super clean an the bearnings show very little wear if any!! also we are thinkin that this motor was twin turbo charged?? The motor has duel pyro's an has 80mm injectors! Well I hope to have the garage shake rattle an rollin by the end of the week!!! Ernie DS PS hope to have a video an pic's when I get her started an runnin so turn the volume up an hold on to your computers!!! .. -
Looking For Tips Before Purchasing Excavator

I just loves those Freightshakers!!! -
mack31, try this guy John Chalmers 717-334 8709.. I've never used him but I had his name on the back of one of my cards, from a truck show a few years ago, an I was told that he had old Mack (gas motor) parts. It's a shot in the dark but what the hay!!

Looking For Tips Before Purchasing Excavator
bullhusk replied to Deere Mack's topic in Tractors and Equipment
Deere Mack,I Have owned both Cat an Komatsu Cat 235 an Kom. PC 400 & 300 Sorry to say, I thought the Komatsu was a better machine, if you look at a Cat Machine check the pump swivel it's in the center of the house an has all the hyd lines going to it. On my 235, that used to give me a lot of trouble!! It's not to hard to change but It's A real dirty job!!! BY the way I think all excavators have them, but my Komatsu never gave me trouble. Also when ever I bought A used Machine I would send eather the Cat or Komatsu guy's over to grab oil samples (esp.on your final drives an your Hyd. oil system) It will cost you a couple of bucks but It's well worth the money! Superliner On Hold
bullhusk replied to bullhusk's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Thanks guys for your imput on the Superliner! David, gettin an oil sample is a great idea! thanks for the help an keep it commin -
Ok guys I need some Superliner advice. About a year or so I asked some questions about a Superliner that one of my friends had for sale,it had the steering box mounted on the front axle, an it also had a Mack 10 speed. Ok the truck is I think an 86?? (It has the round head lights) an It came with a 440-E9 V8. Now the motor has been updated to a 90's E9-500, the truck also has New-Way air ride with a single heavy frame, Bud's on front an open wheels on back. He had bought the truck to pull his lo-boy trailer so he started to put a lot of money into this unit i.e. he rebuilt the motor, bought all new bullet lights, all new Mack name plates an every thing new on the outside still in box's sittin in the cab. Well one of his friends needed to get out from under a nice Superliner 500V8 58 rears with an 18 speed (better low-boy tractor) so he put this truck in the corner about 5 years now. Ok he has been holding this truck for me about a year now,an he wants me to take this truck cause he knows how we keep em an he knows we don't Cowboy our trucks!! all this truck needs is paint, an air cond. compressor an some odds an ends. My question is whats this truck worth? I can buy it for about 10,000 I don't know a lot about the E9 V8 an also this would be a truck that I would put into service pulling a cement tanker please let me know what you think Thank You Ernie D
