  5. I had an older DM with a Rockwell axle that took these straight pins, all Mack axles I have seen are tapered. Terry

  12. A RD is not always double framed, it is a deeper and thicker than a standard R model frame. I have seen single framed RD’s. Terry
  13. 285 engine might not be bulletproof, but close to it! As stated before lifters can lose there hard face and wipe the cam out. Terry

  19. I had a dump truck with a 285 and a 12spd with 4.17’s never had a problem off road, and had a real good cruising speed. Also had 22.5 tires. Terry

  21. If you look close the wires to the regulator have all been cut, probably had an all in one alternator/regulator installed. Terry pretty clean F model

  23. Them new pins are not tapered, no way to fit unless you do some lathe turning on them. terry Look like rockwell pins, there is a notch in the middle where a retaining pin goes through axle and along side of pin to lock it in.
