  2. Check with Manders diesel, Lakeville Minnesota.
  3. Can't help on the numbers, but i do remember R model macks in the mid and later 60's with 318 detroits.
  4. I can't imagine what a 6-71 would do to a one ton front end!
  5. They are a real easy engine to adjust the valves while running, and the maxidyne converted i believe is maxidyne liners with the heads scored for the fire rings. terry
  6. I do believe the tip turbine went to 315 horsepower. Terry
  7. 686 Would be a 285 with a 5 or 6 spd, a 690 would be a 300 or350 with a 9 spd mack or fuller. Terry
  8. Are the injector lines the same?
  9. That is a bargain for that 12 spd. Best trans. mack ever built! Terry
  10. When you take them tank straps off, be sure to check tank it self for rust under the straps, It usually gets paper thin there. If so, take some thin strap and weld to tank where the tank strap wraps at. Will save you from trouble later. Terry
  11. Have to agree with the early 237 idea, terry
  12. Yes any 72 series with a 0 at the end is a double overdrive, either a TRT or a TRQ. Terry
  13. No 0 is a single overdrive in the back box, all triplex and quads are overdrive in the back box, A 0 like in a TRQ7220 is overdrive in the front, so there is your double overdrive. terry
  14. Try Manders diesel in Lakeville Minnesota, they parts out lots of macks. Terry
  15. I always thought the "adjustable" part was to keep moving the bottom thrust bearing upward as it wears to keep the axle beam from dragging on the spindle. terry
  16. Look at the engine pics. the frame is not tall enough for a DM, it is a U model. Terry
  17. You need to find a TRT1070 12 spd. They are about 12% overdrive, I had one in a DM with 4.17 rears, would run 65 mph at about 1600 rpms. terry
  18. Manders just outside of Minneapolis used to have a ton of mack cabs. terry
  19. With that mileage on the trans and engine with good servicing should last a real long time. terry
  20. Check the gasket around the vent in the roof. They will leak with age. terry
  21. you will split it open like a melon! Terry
  22. As Glen stated above don't beat in on the inside use the outside edge, you should also get a injector sleeve reamer to true everything up after it is in. terry
  23. I bet somebody already has put a diesel in it, look at that exhaust stack with that little muffler. terry
