  2. That would be the one! and usually with enough "ass-crack" showing you could stick a sunday newspaper in it!....................................Mark
  3. I met Mike at MATS the year the freightliner "argosy" came out,and for some un-known reason i was standing in line to have a look at it,Dale Summers (truckin'bozo) was doing a live broadcast, interviewing people in line, asking them about their thoughts on the "new" truck freightliner was giving away at the show. So,when he gets to me,he shakes my hand, says to me,"so Mark Wright, owner-operator,leased to Clark Transfer Inc. from Elmer,NJ what would YOU do if you won this new Argosy?" I say "i'd take it down and trade it in on a new MACK"!!!!!! (on the air mind you) he makes the "cut" signal under his throat,"go to commercial"!!!!! made a disgusted face at me,and walked away! people in line sure had a good laugh! i thought Parhurst was going to piss his pants laughing!........................Mark
  4. Thats where i met him too! talked for an hour or two, really enjoyed talking with him,at the time he was trying to start a new magazine,ROADMASTERS but i think think the financing fell through, and he could'nt get it going,a real shame because i relly like to know his take on out current "Commander in chief" and the state of what trucking has become in the last decade! Trucking/drivers lost a true friend when he sold OVERDRIVE!............................Mark
  5. It never ceases to amaze me,that with all this "experience" that these are the same dip-shits that walk over to you (CAT scale ticket in hand) with a puzzled look on their face, wondering if you know which way to slide the tandems to get them "leagal" when they are 1000 pounds over gross!...............................Mark
  6. Nice job Tom! and thanks for posting all the pictures! people like the asshole in the rest area really piss me off! (no pun intended) i was sitting in a truckstop last summer and saw a man, woman and little girl walking towards their truck, when this gi-nourmous fat-ass in a swift truck starts to pull out, tosses a "piss bottle" out the window in front of his truck, just about the time the people got in front of him,he purposely ran over the bottle,it exploded, covering the folks with piss! laughed his ass off! i ran over, got the tractor number, called the cops, another driver blocked him in till the cops got there, when they did get there, same old same old "really nothing we can do" i felt bad for those folks, especially since they had just showered. Fat-ass that did it said i "should mind my own business" i told him had that been me,an ambulance would have been called first, then a wrecker,Then the cops, prolly to take me "downtown" i really don't know what the hell is wrong with people anymore! anyway, enough of my rant, glad you're trip when well, and i'm gonna add what others have already said, get yourself a Rand-Mcnally atlas, even with all the electronics,GPS,etc. in my entire trucking career i have never left home without one,a good place to look is at Pilot truckstops around this time of year, you can pick-up last years edition for a fraction of the original price, and not that much changes road-wise in a years time, just an in-valuable tool for a truckdriver!...................................Mark
  7. Try over at www. Hanks truckpictures.com plenty of Mason-Dixon truck photos available, even found a few i thought to post here (what a waste of good B-models).............................Mark
  8. Knew i had seen a picture of Don Knotts looking into a Dodge cabover, after all this talk about OVERDRIVE,sure enough i went to Overdrive Retro.com,and there it was!........................................Mark
  9. Found another sharp F-model,only wish the "buffalo" in the picture was a busty brunette,blonde,redhead,etc.!..............................................Mark
  10. Blasphemy i tells ya'! like putting a four cylinder suzuki in a Corvette!..............................................Mark
  11. I have often thought the same thing, and looking at the last picture Tom posted (the front view) kinda looks like a B-model "ass-ended" a 57 GMC pickup!........................................Mark
  12. Only thing on the list thats missing is the "Batman" costume, never know when it might be needed!.................................................Mark
  13. Vlad,we do get our share of bad weather here in the states, but even winter usually does'nt stop the bikini girls! i saw these girls standing right in the middle of the road in Gurnee,IL wednesday morning, but i had a lot to do stopwise,so i was'nt able to stop and see what they were doing! (believe that i'll tell you another!)...................................Mark
  14. I agree, when Mike Parkhurst ran/edited OVERDRIVE the reviews of Macks and Brockways were usually very good,he told me himself he had a soft-spot for "east-coast" truck makers, being from Jersey himself originally.I do remember when the Superliner came out,he gave it rave reviews, especially since Mack was making an effort to get into the owner-operator market bigtime, but his only dissapointment seemed to be the name,he said "super" has been used for everything from a comic-book character,to descibe the taste of an ice cream cone!" before the ultimate end of the "old" OVERDRIVE i remember he was REALLY hard on Volvo/White/GMC which i personally considered junk anyway!..............................................Mark
  15. Interesting subject,i have an "S" shaped wrench like the last picture posted that was supposedly in the tool kit that came with my grandfathers AK. Only difference i see is that mine does not say "Mack" on it,but does have the old "IM" (International Motors Co.) insignia stamped on it,anyone seen one of those?.....................................Mark
  16. Thats the way i understand it as well,from what i've read...............................Mark
  17. Heres another sharp F-model dressed up in Apple House colors, used to see these pretty frequently in the northeast back in the eighties.................................Mark
  18. Great post and pictures! as we all know (well most of us anyway) a LOT of good things come from Jersey! Macks,Bruce Springsteen,Frank Sinatra, porkroll egg&cheese sammiches, and the list goes on and on!.........sure be neat to save the International Motor Co. logos before the plant finally comes down,a lot of history in that emblem!.................................Mark
  19. 550 mil? shit at this point fifty bucks would'nt insult me!.....................btw,thanks "free shit" people!...............................Mark

  22. Really sharp B-model,thanks for posting! i do have a question, but its about fire engines in general (no pun intended) its been asked on this forum several times, but never answered (at least in my mind) satisfactorally what is the benefit /reason for the open cab? especially the northeast where winter is a factor! i have always wondered about this.....................................Mark
  23. I always liked this paintjob on an F-model,very sharp!...............................Mark
  24. I always thought Mack should have run with the "raised-roof" concept on the F-model,especially given the sucess and popularity of the KW aerodyne.....................................Mark
  25. What David said, our thoughts and prayers are with you my friend!...................................Mark
