  1. My uncle was terminal manager for APA truckings Philly operation, they tested one daycab F-model that the drivers liked to call the "china closet" never seen anymore after that, but they still went with Macks,R's MB's later CH's. We had one used F-model on the farm,it was an old Ryder truck,Formula 300 Cummins,10 speed road-ranger,first truck i ever drove with air-conditioning and a sleeper. It did'nt ride very well, but ran great, and was a good truck overall. i ran many a trip from South Jersey to Binghampton,NY in it,it was a comfortable truck to both drive and sleep in.......................................Mark
  2. Thats actually not a bad looking truck! pretty rare to see a Dodge (even a new one) dressed up/polished like this one.............................................Mark
  3. No doubt! and just think of what fun the "pre-trip" would be on this!...........................Mark
  4. Man,that takes me back! and Holy S#*T! what about the prices on that menu? never see those days again! thanks for posting...............................................Mark
  5. I know Tom has an interest in these GMC's,and although they may have been posted before,i thought the pics were neat, and i have never seen one with a sleeper on it before...........................Mark
  6. Now THATS about the only kind of "rack" i'd have ant interest in! woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!........................Mark
  7. Man o' man! i sure loved the "crispy fried clam strips" from HoJo's,it was my dad and i's regular haunt when my mom was away or un-able (or un-willing) to cook! i still have a Winross HoJo's truck i've had since i was a kid.....................Mark
  8. I kinda like the 72 R-model,looks to be in decent shape, and not so outrageous price-wise...............................Mark
  9. I remember my dad looked at a used cabover Dodge before he ended up buying a new White-Freightliner,dont remember much about it,other than it was detroit powered and looked a lot like this one........................Mark
  10. I remember that same ad,it was a picture of Don sitting in a cabover Dodge tractor, and it said something like "tell em' Don sent you"?..................................................Mark
  11. Don't know if this counts, but years ago when i started at Atlas Van Lines,we had an owner-operator with a W-series Ford cab on a single axle F-model chassis with a 237/5 speed (a tree fell on the F-model,and the cab was beyond repair, the ford cab was cheaper to replace then the Mack at the time)................................Mark
  12. Nice! definately worth checking into, both look to be in decent shape, thanks for posting them!..............................Mark
  13. Best wishes to all my BMT friends and their families for a safe and happy thanksgiving! was'nt sure i was going to get home today or not,i picked up a load of 3rd class airmail in Columbus,OH late yesterday, took damn near all night to load it! (samples of some kind of baby formula) so i had to beat ass to get home! got in this morning, took a little nap, woke up to a fantastic meal!,bad part is i gotta deliver in Jersey city,NJ in the morning,so i gotta roll shortly, Happy Thanksgiving! and i'll catch you all later!...............Mark
  14. Indeed its possible, early F-models were available with virtually any trans. Mack offered at the time,Duplex,Triplex.Quadraplex,etc.................................Mark
  15. Very cool truck! would be neat to see restored as a wrecker,or even back to period military spec.i have seen pictures, but was un-aware any still existed....................................................Mark
  16. dats "pizzackly" what i thought!.........................Mark
  17. I always favored the AC chassis with a flat-bed and low sides, reason being it would be neat for parades, hayrides etc........................................Mark
  18. I have to agree with the general consensus,Mack truck,Mack engine,BUT if i were to come across something of interest (truckwise) with other than a Mack engine my personal vote would be a CAT,my dad ran several over the years 1693,1693-TA,3406 A,B that were damn good engines all around. I once drove a W-900 KW with a 3408 V-8 putting out in the neighborhood of 750 horse, prolly the fastest, most powerful truck i ever drove! But,on the flip-side,i've never heard many good things about Cat powered Macks, just never seemed to get the "bugs" worked out of them. And if you go back a few years (50's 60's) a Cummins in a Mack was a damn good combination,so i guess its just a matter of personal preference......................Mark
  19. just a matter of personal preference, but i really don't like the eldorado seats,or the way they travel, always feels (to me) like your gonna get dumped on the floor when you hit a bad bump. My dad changed from Bostroms to eldorados in his peterbilt, granted they look nice, fit the cab good, but ride like shit! i really don't care for highback seats either, but thats pretty much all you can get OEM these days........................................Mark
  20. Why cut-up a Mack, when there are literally THOUSANDS of peterbilts, kenworths, freightliners etc. in junkyards throughout the country just waiting to be hacked up!..............................................Mark
  21. I had my truck worked on at this very shop,BUT they had a nice stack of old "Newsweek" and "Ladies Home Journal" magazines in the waiting room,so i did'nt have time to check out the "mechanics"..............................................Mark
  22. Thanks Jim,i meant to write Tom back about that,i was'nt sure that was the name of the town or not,as many times as i've been there! (at least thats what i always wrote in my logbook).............................Mark
  23. Looks good Tom,very professional,i agree with most everyone else about dropping the start date, give it a few years, gain some good experience, then add your "in business since............date" first and formost,DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU'RE GONNA DO!,we as owner-operators have nothing to sell but service, once you get a good reputation, you can pretty much write your own ticket. Just some friendly advise, now get out there an' give er' hell!!!!!................................Mark
  24. You got that right! i sure miss the "old" Overdrive....................................Mark
  25. Never really liked twinkies, always been more of a "Tastykake man" myself.................................Mark
