  1. They were a great bunch of guys! they had a ton of Mack stuff stashed away years ago,i lost track of them, and often wondered what happened? i bought my B-model right at their shop up on route 17 in Carlstadt about the time they came out. last time i saw any of the guys was at Englishtown,NJ (raceway park) 8-maybe 9 years ago...................................Mark
  2. R.I.P. Commander Mchale,i always liked the guy too,i think my favorite movie he was in was "Emperor of the north" with him and Lee Marvin,he played a freight train conductor,in a battle of wills against a bum (Lee Marvin) that was bound and determined to ride his train for free back during the depression, its a neat movie if you ever get to see it,it comes on AMC and TCM every once in a while...............................Mark
  3. I also noticed the Ideal "Motorific" F-models,these are really hard to come by,as not many survived the 1960's being fairly fragile and made of plastic,i have one nice one,and one for parts should i ever come across another one, found a few pictures on the interweb......................Mark
  4. I think so too! thermometer on the back porch says 103 right now..............Mark
  5. Prolly sounds a little "hokey" (especially coming from a non-mopar man) but i always thought these were kinda neat,i know where there is one in need of a total resto, been thinking about stopping by and see what the deal is with it...........................Mark
  6. Went to my cousin's belated annual 4th of July picnic/party yesterday a good time was had by all,BUT it was hotter than the hinges of hell !!!! 104 by 2 o'clock! had to cut the day short,it was just too hot, especially for the older folks,i had enough beer to pretty much insulate me from the heat, others were not so lucky, nothing serious, but my cousin was real dissapointed he had to shut down early after spending so much on food, planning etc. and having people from all over the country. Personall,i'm not looking forward to being in that trailer again next week, prolly drank 50 gallons of water in the past few days!..................................Mark

  9. Vin,my young friend, iffn' you're gonna hang around a bunch of crusty middle-aged truckdrivers (and enthusiasts) chances are you may develope a taste/appeacieation for beer (and women) later in life,i agree with Randy, take it from the voice of experience, theres a LOT to be learned by keeping yer mouth shut, and yer ears open! the whole world is still in front of you now,but won't always be,family, friends,a good work ethic are all things that start early in life, but first and foremost is a good education!.............................Mark
  10. Thats a great movie! i love the part when the boys meet up with baby-face Nelson, get in the car with him,i laugh my ass off everytime when Delmar says "George, summa yer foldin'money has come un-stolled" as all that loot blows out the window!............Mark
  11. I recommend starting with this one (one of my favorites) Carlstadt, NJ's own AnD towing B-model Corgi wrecker,a real nice piece, and can still be had at a reasonable price.................................Mark
  12. Best wishes for a happy birthday!.....................................Mark
  13. Know the area well,i was a household goods mover for 22 years, did a LOT of work in Philly,i'm originally from a little town right off of U.S. route 40 called Elmer, about halfway between Philly and Atlantic City. We moved to southwestern Virginia about 4 years ago so i could be closer to my outbound freight (LTL furniture, store fixtures, displays, mall kiosks etc.) sure miss the area! we are pilgrims in an un-holy land being "Yankees"! LOL!........................Mark

  18. Still looking, but i always keep my eyes open for trucks wherever i go,i just picked-up a Winross 9000 White/Howard Johnsons "happiness comes in 28 flavors" at a flea market for cheap! to replace the one i had as a boy. I too have yet to purchase any of the larger scale trucks you mentioned Smith-Miller etc. but i sure like their L and B-Models! but like anything else,i'll find one someday (my wish list is still pretty big!) and in my opinion, the "hunt" is half the fun!.........................Mark
  19. Nice GMC Doug! i have the same truck i bought at a yard sale, though yours is in better shape than mine,i still like it! That Ralstoy NAVL is a nice find too, hard to find the "old" colors in that nice of shape, and being an ex-bedbugger,i have quite the collection of moving vans as a "sideline" to my Macks. I also noticed another one on my "wish-list" in your photos, the Corgi H-model Ford wrecker,i do see them on ebay etc.from time to time, but they are getting outrageous in price.............Mark
