  3. Guess i'm dating myself, but i grew up with the classic trucks, and i have always liked the "east coast look" Mack green, with red frame, wheels etc........but have a soft spot for the first B-model (or truck for that matter) was Mack red, black frame and spokes........Mark

  8. I have made ribs in the oven that did'nt come out half-bad,allthough i do prefer the grille....but my method is this,as Tom said, remove the thin membrane,i do "par-boil" mine first, just 15-20 minutes, let them "rest" a few minutes, then i put them in a fairly shallow baking pan on a "bakers rack" just to keep them up out of the grease,my dry rub is nothing more than brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper,ia little dry mustard, and a pinch of salt used sparingly............bake them (low and slow) for at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours,if slightly dry,you can baste them with some of the juice/drippings.(just dont overdo it) when done,i take them out of the heat, again let them rest for a half hour or so,then you can baste with your favorite homemade of store-bought sauce, put them back in for just a few minutes, and you get a nice "candylike" coating with the sauce, start to pull apart/fall off the bone, then you're good to go!...................then,just bring on the beer!..................Mark
  9. Allthough i dont own one,i'd have to say one of the the best balanced handguns i've ever fired (in my opinion) is the 9mm Luger,it just "feels" right, but then that could also be my ancestral Geman heritage peeking through............Mark

  15. Theres a great little Italian restaurant in downtown Charleston,WVA.can't think of its name, its a tiny little place that makes the best spaghetti i've had outside of homemade. Its noteable because of all the famous people that have visited there over the years,i think all the presidents from JFK (i sat at the Ronald Reagan table) till present, celebrities etc. The time i ate there,i was told spaghetti and MEATBALL was the specialty,so when the waitress came to take my order,i said "meatBALL?" now i'm a big boy,i can usually eat more than one meatball, she says "fine, how many would you like"? at least 3 or 4 says me,"ok,suit yourself" says her,a few minutes later she comes back with a delicious plate of pasta, and 3 meatball(S) the size of softballs/small cannonballs!!!!!!! these things were ENORMOUS! the locals got a good laugh at the yankee's expense!............long story short,i enjoyed meatball sammmiches for days after my visit! i wonder if its still there? i always try to seek out little local places to eat while on the road, some of the best meals i've had have been from "mom and pop" joints, problem is there getting fewer everyday!.......................Mark
  16. I agree with you, only difference is in my childhood home our bedroom was on the second floor,i'm still lumped up from being tossed out the window! usually managed to land on my feet (most of the time).when my brother and i would misbehave,my mom would always threaten us with "just you wait till your father comes home off the road"! long story short,my dad had a memory like a steel trap, rarely forgot our "tomfoolery" time he did get home, more than a few times i was not happy to hear that truck back in the driveway as a child, cuz' pop was right to the point, got woke up once or twice to stand an ass-whipping (99% deserved) the 1% i did'nt get was usually because my younger brother could not come up with a convincing story/lie to cover his ass fast as i could!......................Mark
