Vin, as already answered,that is Laureldale,NJ its about 30 miles southeast of where i'm originally from in Jersey..............i got a buddy thats a "volly" at a neighboring fire company,i'll see if he can get some info on it,his department does'nt have a U-model,buthey they do have a pretty nice R...................................Mark

I had to think about it myself,then remembered it was MERCURY that had a "Turnpike Cruiser" in 1957,supposed to be the "flagship" model of that year,ugly as homemade soap in my opinion!................................Mark

Good eye! and nope! my dad had a lock-ring come apart on a split rim once while he was working on it,never again fooled with tires after that. We used to mount/repair our own trailer tires,but when we moved from one shop to another there was a Goodyear dealer right across the street,so that kinda ended any tire work we did inhouse,it was actually cheaper and easier to have them do it....................................Mark

Reminds me of a story about my late uncle Mack,he was a plumber all his life,and when he retired he had always wanted a new Cadillac,so he treated himself to a brand new Coupe Deville triple black,all the options,a really nice car. Well he babied this thing,only dove it on weekends,dont think it ever saw rain or snow. So one summer he and his young grandson were detailing the car,wax, etc. he was a little guy,maybe 5-6 years old at the time ,so "pop-pop" had him wiping off the wax as he put it on,only trouble was he was taking off the wax with the rusty jagged edge of a tuna fish can!!!!!!! i'm surprized he lived to tell the story!!!!! we still kid him about it to this day,never let him live it down!.........................Mark

The burgundy 359 was a 425 B-model Cat/14 speed spicer SST w/3:55 rears......Dads 359 was a Big Cam 400 Cummins,13 speed RoadRanger also with 3:55 rears both air-ride 275 wheelbases,i made the occaisional trip when his regular driver was off,vaction etc........truthfully,i was'nt real impressed with either one of them, but the Cat was less trouble than the Cummins,they were both nice trucks,he and his driver kept them spotless,which is prolly a lot of the reason i'm as "anal" as i am with my truck!......................................Mark

My dad had a CO-4000 with a 9-0-nuthin' in it too,we both ran from South Jersey to Binghampton,NY 5/6 nights a week,and once i passed him (he was empty) coming home, i was loaded, with my grandfathers R-model,he was furious! "last time i'll get passed by my own son in any g**damn Mack"!!!!!! it was just a few weeks later,when he traded the Transtar in on a new White Freightliner with a 1693 CAT,never got passed again (not by me anyway)..........................Mark
