  7. Funny you should mention that! as Crosley also actually did build refridgerators,i had an Aunt & Uncle who had both! believe it or not,i still have the fridge in my garage (55 plus years old) still runs like a champ has the top mounted compressor, keeps the beer cold for sure! not so sure about the cars, they had a station wagon, kind of a neat little car for what it was, mechanically simple for sure!.............................Mark
  8. They tried that shit here, wanted my kid to learn spanish,i told them we have NO spanish people in my family,we do NOT speak spanish at home (nor are we going to) i said how about getting them(the children) a good working knowledge of ENGLISH first? maybe correct,or at least frown upon the ebonics i hear from people on a daily basis? bothers me to hear some dope say "am i axe you a question"? or "where my car be at"?.................when did it all go wrong?..............................Mark
  9. Off topic (a little) but i thought this was a pretty nice dumper as well....................................Mark
  10. Jay do you have the book all about Carolina Freight? i got one last year at the ATHS show in greensboro, pretty neat, has some good pictures in it too, seemed it only cost 5/6 bucks. The C.Grier Beam sells them, and some toy trucks in Carolina colors as well........................................Mark
  11. Nah! just funnin' Ernie! i have seen those CCC trucks you talked about, there is a small repair shop down the road from me that has an R-model hood sitting on the ground with the CCC emblem on it,don't know where the rest of the truck is,i have never been up close to look around. When i started at Atlas Van Lines years ago,one of the first company trucks i was assigned to was a White Road Commander (Road Commode) it had a 6V-92,10 speed, single axle with a 3:55 rear,it was a pretty good truck, and your right,it was about the ONLY truck we had at the time that would start in the winter! (R-model included) without being plugged in. Cant mistake the sound of a 318 either!..........................Mark
  12. Am i in the minority? or would you like to just slap the living shit out of that little asshole?...........................Mark
  13. My wife has a few books of the farside collections, very funny! i always liked the one with the picture of a "dorky" looking kid, standing in front of a building that says "school for the mentally gifted" and he is PULLING on a door handle that says "PUSH"!...........................Mark
  14. I have some detroit advise,in a pinch,when attached to a chain,they can be used as a means to keep a boat stationary,commonly called an "anchor" i believe............Mark
  15. Pretty sure that paint scheme was for the 1978/79 model year show trucks, used at trade shows, calendars, photo shoots etc..................................Mark
  16. "And now for something you'll really like"!.....................i used to like the "fractured fairy tales" don't make cartoons like they used to!............................................Mark
  17. Thats a good looking truck! i always liked the "east coast" look, saw a lot of trucks like this around south Jersey growing up,especially B-81's,DM-800's both dumps and mixers, with the occaisional wrecker or cinder block truck...............................Mark
  18. LMAO!...........................Mark
  19. Thats what i was thinking,my CX was built/ordered in 2000,but is titled as a 2001............................Mark
  20. I agree! the "perriscope" always blew right in my ear, gave me headache and ear-ache! prolly get away with modern in dash HVAC,but i'd keep the rooftop "shell" just for the looks,i even like the early western series factory bumper (the one thats notched to the shape of the grille) i also like the idea of painting the stars, just looks right to my eye,as opposed to vinyl or decals................................Mark
  21. Dont recall seeing a "western" RL/RS done up in the stars and stripes, looks good though. I like the idea of one done up "nostalgia" style, with a polished aluminum Mercury sleeper, rooftop air, single stack etc...............................Mark
  22. Been to ETC (Elizabeth truck center) must be big money envolved, nice enough guys, but not what i would call a" Mack friendly " shop! stopped by looking for something for my truck,"why spend money on a Mack?" they asked, more pete and KW oriented................................Mark
  23. Is this too much?.............................Mark
  24. Greed fuels a lot of stupidity! i had a similar incident to Toms, got a call from my dispatcher (also Randy, but female by the way) "Mark,i got an angry call from Mr.& Mrs Martinez, wanting to know what the hell kind of drivers we hire,as they say you (Clark transfer #386 trailer 4406) hit them in the ass on the Cross bronx expressway this morning, totaling their car,and putting their young son in the hospital, then left the scene" Absoulute bullshit says me! "are you sure?" yes i am! if you will check my call in sheet from this morning, you will see that i am in Portland,OR at Jubitz, and have been for 2 days waiting on a backhaul,so you can call them back and tell them to stick their lawsuit/insurance fraud in their ass! or better yet,let ME call them back, and see what they have to say about my asshole driving then!..........................................Mark
  25. Yup,very true, only time i was ever confused is when "Nice Dumper" came up..........................................Mark
