  1. Nah! you know better then that! LOL! never been been a big detroit fan fan (other then the sound) i gotta admit i sure miss hearing a 318! but have no desire to own one. V-12 detroit was THE engine in its day. neighbor of mine in Jersey had an Autocar,V-12,4X4 trans. pulled a dumptrailer,i could hear that thing 5 miles from home!.............Mark
  2. I like that one myself, its the "yamaha" under the hood i dont care for! LOL!..............................Mark
  3. Seen that a few times myself, seems kinda fake to me,i mean who the hell "forgets" they have $10,000 cash in a shoe box? and why would'nt ya use it to pay the storage bill? i've met that guy that drives the T-600 KW on that "Shipping wars" show, and yes,he's just as bigga douche as he appears to be on TV!.........................Mark
  4. Congrats on a nice lookin pup! i always wanted a bulldog, but have heard they require a great deal of care, and prone to a lot of medical problems. I still love em though! my wife brought home a cat a few years ago (i dont like cats) but named him Mack, she knew anything with that name would be hard for me to get rid of!.............pretty even now,3 dogs 3 cats!.........Mark
  5. I wanna work on this farm!............................Mark
  6. You are absoulutely right! i dont know why ANYONE envolved with trucking would support this! todays trucking companies are so cut-throat i'm sure they'd haul anything the shippers threw at them for pennies on the dollar, just to keep them as customers. But that doesnt work in the real world,ie; increased fuel use, maintanence, higher road use taxes, tolls etc.A bad idea all around! trucks dont need to be any heavier or longer, especially when most of the existing infastructure was set up to be serviced by straight trucks, and 40' trailers, holy shit its hard enough to get around with a 53' now! and 80K GVW is more than enough! so if this does go through,John Q.Public should'nt be surprized when a gallon of milk at the store is $15.00!................................Mark
  7. Before we moved,i had an older couple that lived near me that did house clean-outs,ran a little second hand store, and would then take the things thet did'nt want or need to the local friday might auction, eventually their business grew quite a bit,and they decided they needed a bigger truck, they ended up buying an old 22' penske truck. They never really advertized for help, but when they found out from my mom that i had been a household mover for 22 years,i got "volunteered" to see if they needed any help/advise. Mrs. boyd was shocked at "the amount of shit that boy could could put on our truck"! i enjoyed helping them out,and ended up with some really nice furniture as payment, and usually first pick before the auction. I still have a box of vintage Tonka,Buddy L trucks i'll restore someday that came from them. Used to like hanging around the auction, and watch people fight over something pulled from a dumpster! Course sometimes they would BUY more than they sold,so at least i was loaded both ways, very little deadhead!..........................Mark
  8. LMAO! a real yankee (me) is not offended! wonderful post! thanks for sharing! reminds me a great deal of my late grandfather, never bought anything new in his life. Makes me more proud to be an American, when i hear a story like this,i for one am damn glad people like your uncle still exist, makes this world a better place!............Keep on a' truckin'!.............Mark
  9. MB's just dont get the credit they deserve! these were damn good trucks! i drove one for APA out of philly for quite a while (till they went under) only thing the truck lacked for city work was power steering..................once upon a time there were thousands of MB's on the east coast,i still wonder where they all went!....................................Mark
  10. Well i come into this party a little late, seems you done already did your "ciyferin" i woulda said something like have you bumped your head? or lost your damn mind? you know damn well as i do you aint gettin' ridda that Mack anytime soon! CCR helps me think too!........................................Mark
  11. LOL! thats what i was thinking! getting so i cant go to sleep anymore till i watch both trucks back in beside me,then gotta make sure their parked for the night!............Mark
  12. I talked to a "newbie" not to long ago,who approached me with a question about his truck, seems his trans.temp gauge had been "pegged" for several weeks, and truck was riding "rough" personally i try to help people when i can,but as already stated you cant fix stupid! upon closer inspection, the drain plug was missing from the trans.the clue (to me anyway) was the thick coating of burnt black oil/grease down the inside of the frame! second problem regarding the ride, was it seems the suspension valve (on the dash) had been in the "dump" position for several weeks as well! he had come from school (in Omaha,NE) with no air in the bags, and a 44,000 load to boot! and when i tried to explain what was wrong " i aint know dat" was the answer i got!!...........................Mark
  13. I PM'd him a couple weeks ago, everything was fine,he said he has just been really busy prepping a big order of new trucks (Macks) for an oil drilling outfit...........so i'm thinking when he gets caught-up he'll prolly make an appearance!......................................Mark
  14. Federal was one of the ones i could'nt remember, they built an awful lot of these chassis used to transport "pontoon bridges".............................Mark
  15. Vinny, there really is no way to tell who built it just by looking at it,as all of them were built identical, just by different manufacturers..............if i remember correctly,Brockway built the most of them, really heavy duty trucks! used for recovery(wreckers),tank transport, portable bridges,etc......................................Mark
  16. Ex-military converted tractor for sure, WW-II era, many truck makers built this very same truck,so its possible this is a Brockway,Corbitt,Autocar,Ward-Lafrance and a few others that i cant remember..........................Mark
  17. Ha! thats funny! when i first bought my CX,i went to MATS in Louisville, wanted to talk to a Mack engineer in person,my problem was there is no good way to clean the windshield,no good place to stand. When i found the person i needed and explained what my compliant was he said "Mack does'nt want you climbing up on the frame, you could slip/fall an get hurt" so i said i guess when the glass becomes dirty,i should wheel into the closest dealer and have it cleaned (free of charge)? he was not amused! he then proceced to show me the "proper" way to clean the windshield without opening the hood, climbed up on the fairings, grabbed the mirror bracket, swung around rag/windex in hand, promptly lost his footing, ripped and split his slacks, exposing his BVD's..............still hard to clean the windows, but i still laugh when i think about that!.........................Mark
  18. Nice handtruck!....................................................Mark
  19. I don't know if it was a regional thing or what, but up in South Jersey we called the squared off ones pit fenders.................................Mark
  20. Deffinately not the truck to be wheeled by pussies! only thing i'd change would be to put DC series rounded fenders on it!.............power steering? we dont need no stinkin' power power steering! LOL!.......................................Mark
  21. I hate to see these trucks leave the country too! especially when they obviously have'nt outlived there usefullness...........thing is,with our current government its getting harder and harder to keep an older truck on the road with all the epa/emissions B.S. many feel its just not feaseable anymore. I personally dont agree with this, but the only good i take from the export of American trucks is that they'll be USED and not sold for scrap. I read an article about this some years ago,and some of these foreign countries get another 20/30 years out of these Macks, held together with bailing wire and bubblegum, which as we all know is not gonna happen with say a pete or KW, all the more reason Macks are so desireable to expoters...................Mark
  22. What the hell's up with that air cleaner intake? never seen anything like that before. This would be a neat truck restored,i like it! but the ol' girl is sure pretty far gone! take an awful lot to get this one back together..................................Mark
  23. Trent, don't quote me on this, but to the best of my memory the freedom edition was basically a special cosmetic edition option (much like a "king ranch" or harley-davidson F-150)..course i could be wrong!...............................Mark
  24. Damn! you all must lead charmed lives LOL! mine ended up 72............(but i DID drive a volvo once) i'm sure that shortened me up quite a bit!.......................Mark
  25. Damn! i NEEDS a package delivered (by her) right now!...................................................Mark
