Had a woolworths lunch counter/soda fountain in the next town over from me in Jersey,the BEST real milkshakes! funny all the little things you miss later in life,especially the way the world is now! kids today dont know all the good stuff they missed! we had a small Mom and Pop hobby shop in my town growing up,remember slot cars? track was HUGE! hell we spent many a rainy saturday in there,never got molested,kidnapped,killed or anything! i still got an old tackle box with a few parts/bodies in it from the sixties,i remember you could get bigger tires,"hotter" engines,all kinds of shit! prolly even still have a trophy i won with my "badass" willys coupe! LMAO!..................................Mark
  10. We had a few stores on the east coast as well, W.T. Grants,Two Guys,Jamesway etc. i still have corded drill from Grants, prolly 50 years old, that works like a champ! we always looked forward to the Sears catalog too,it was a great big thing back then! last i saw a "print" catalog,it was maybe 20 pages long,with next to nothing usefull in it. The closest Sears to us growing up is the oldest one in Jersey,and is still in existance,i had a childhood friend who's father started working there in 1947,and just recently retired! they had a "kenmore" refridgerator with a "forever" warranty on it,that Sears had a shit-fit when they has to replace it for free a year or two ago!...........................P.S. bet Bullhusk remembers Two Guys!.................Mark

  14. I found a 70 SS 396 in the "weeds" when i went to my cousins 4th of july party up around drakes branch this past summer,no engine,trans. (4 speed) or rear etc. needed everything! i left my number with the people that answered the door,when they called me back a few days later the price was 20K! (i passed)........................Mark

  17. We all know about hindsight,but that car is worth a SHITPOT of money now! i had a similar 67 pontiac tempest,with all the goodies,GTO front clip/engine trans. traded it in on my pickup,i think they gave me $700.00 and it was in perfect condition!...............................Mark
  18. i was sitting at a traffic light,minding my own business,when a car load of young,angry muslims pulled up next to me,shouting anti-american profanity,and making obscene gestures. When the light turned green,they squealed tires and drove away,pulled out in front of an eighteen-wheeler,which crashed into them,crushing the car,and killing them all instantly. I took the time to gather my thoughts,and reflected "man,that coulda been me" Very next day,i took a job as a truckdriver......................................

I know just what you mean Ernie! grew up the same way,been aroung trucks all my life,back in the days when you could tell what engine was in a truck just by hearing it! just too much BS in trucking anymore damn new laws,rules,regs. etc........geez,when i was a kid,remember standing on a loading dock with my dad an a BUNCH of other drivers,i was maybe 8-9 years old.dad says "go ahead an pull it up,an shut the doors" HOLY SHIT!!!! thought i was given the keys to the kingdom! even remember dad looking at a NEW Brockway cabover,Vineland, was NJ was the factory hub in our area back then,.building is still standing,used to be a BIG husky on the sign out front,prolly someone stole it....................those were the days!....Mark
