  1. Rob,very well put! windy as i sometimes am,don't believe i coulda said it any better..........................................Mark
  2. Now thats good, clear American thinking right there! i do have to agree with most everyone who's piped in so far,if a topic is not of interest to me,of if i feel i have nothing to add,i JUST DON'T READ IT,OR PARTICIPATE! simple as that! we're all big boys here,(well most of us anyway!) and i personally have never really seen any member on here get carried away, with religion,politics,etc.............................Mark
  3. Grandad (my hero) when i told him a wanted to drive trucks- "well you too fat ta' play ball, too ugly to be on TV,and too dumb to teach school" so like me and your father before,i think truckins' the logical choice!............................Mark
  4. I-80 anywhere in Nebraska! damn ruts,crater sized holes,beat the livin'shit out of you!............I-40 eastern New Mexico, I-55 anywhere! 10 or 12 across Louisiana,just to name a few..................Mark
  5. I think maybe the english rain has wet this "blokes" brain a bit! i also have about a dozen or so of the round bases NOS,and i would'nt expect to clear that much for all of them if i were to try and sell them..................Mark
  6. I guess i'm old school, but i subscibe to the "spare the rod, spoil the child" theory,my son knows i dont play around in matters of behavior, education, manners etc. i get so tired of hearing about how "little johhny" cant behave,"acts out",or learn in school because of video games,ADD or some other bullshit,if the parents would take the time to raise their children, and become involved in their day to day activities, there would not be half the crap going on that you read about everyday. My parents were strict with me,instilled values, morals and a good work ethic in me,and wanted better for me then they had it,and theres not many a day that i'm not thankful for that, kids today just fail to see the value in working for a living(or anything),seems they think they are "entitled" and want everything handed to them, not so in my house! guess it comes down to taking resposibility for your actions, aint no free rides.......................................Mark
  7. Welcome aboard! good lookin' truck no doubt! as far as Macks go,the LF/LJ's are right up there with Western R's and B-models in my favorites.....................Mark
  8. I agree with brotherRandy! i am the last person to be offended by much of anything, but then again, i have a warped sense of humor, and i AM from Jersey,so that means a thick skin is pretty much built in!.......................................Blue collar working person Taxpayer Conservative Gun owner Christian morals Politically incorrect Family man Mack truck enthusiast/Owner................Any questions?..........................Mark
  9. I agree! i think thats one of the things i like most about this website,so many like-minded people, interested in preserving a piece of our heritage, and helping to keep the Mack "legend" alive. I also cant wait to see this (model) Superliner finished!..................................Mark
  10. Forgot to add this to the last post....................Stone,Woods & Cook Willys. Its an old picture, but thats "cookie" in the middle of the second picture...........Mark
  11. Tom, i think you may be thinking about "Wild Willie Borsch" he drove the famous (notorious) Winged express fuel altered, and was noted for his wild, one handed driving style, and was quite the showman! one of the most famous pictures in drag racing is willie "gettin' sideways at the starting line. And he was a balding,heavyset-set middle aged guy with a beard/moustache...............is this the car?.....................Mark

  19. Nice 55! reminds me of the one in "two lane blacktop"a real traditional looking car! i remember a few guys running sixes "back in the day",as they say today, always thought it was a sound idea. I remember one guy (cant remember his name),that ran a 56 chevy sedan delivery at Atco,NJ in the seventies, did real well with it, if i remember correctly it was also a GMC-6,backed by a four-speed. Never met Jack Merkle, but i do know of his work,i have an old model kit of a model-A gasser with decals for Merkle speed & performance..........................Mark
  20. Nice pictures Paul! thanks for sharing! dig the old funny cars for sure! i'm a bit of a gasser fan myself, buddy of mine owns a 41 willys coupe, owned by none othe than Stone,Woods& Cook,it was destined to become another "Swindler" in the sixties, but they decided to change classes and body styles so it never happened. Doug "cookie" Cook autographed the firewall at englishtown back in the late seventies, its never been anything but a street car,but looks like it walked right out of the sixties! straight front axle, pearl white tuck and roll uphostery, etc. only picture i have of it is a crappy polaroid! one person i'd add to that list is of course "Miss Hurst" Linda Vaughan, always gracious about signing pictures and talking with people, and (still) not too hard on the eyes! LOL!....................................Mark

  22. What kind of car Paul? vintage drag racing is kinda' another hobby of mine,i always enjoy stopping at "Big's" museum, one of the few "celebrities" i ever met who actually took the time to talk to people on a one to one basis, great guy! one of my alltime heroes!......................................Mark
  23. Hell,get him a tophat and a daniel webster cigar,an' he's already bettern' the one we have!...............................Mark
  24. Not hard to miss what ya' aint looking for! liberal news media only reports on what it thinks we need to know!........................................Mark
  25. Of course not! only thing i know bout' spam is it comes in a can,and goes good with eggs! LOL!..................gotta blame my wife anyway, she's the one that found it!..............Mark
