  1. Heres some background..............Mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3qcymE7gh0
  2. When my wife first introduced me to ebay, there was a B- model service manual, factory assembly manual ended up going for $25.00 still kick myself in the ass for not buying it!,as i have never seen anything like it again..........does anyone know if there is anything like this being reprinted? B-R-model etc.?......................Mark
  3. Buddy of mine sent me these pictures, thought i might like them....so i figuered everybody else might too!.........................Mark
  4. Too many variables to give a generic quote,ie: type of freight hauled,LTL/truckload,region,seasonal etc. a man with a payment, mortgage, etc. cant really break even at anything much under $2.00 a loaded mile.................................Mark
  5. Yeah i know,LOL! but this shit bothers me,and this has become one of my favorite places to "vent"...........................................Mark
  6. That show was the most Corbitts i've ever seen at one place/show before..................................Mark
  7. My guess would be poorly? contrary to the governments and trucking companies opinion, there is only a shortage of GOOD drivers! ATA's been "debating" the underpaid driver question for longer than i have been a truckdriver (34+ years) conferences, meetings, hearings and yet NOTHING ever gets done! havent been any major/significant changes in driver pay and working conditions in decades, and i doubt there ever will be! drivers are sometimes their own worst enemy, hell, most days you cant get 2 drivers to agree on what day of the week it is! only when shippers and consignees are held partially responsible for delays/excess waiting time etc.will things improve, and that will never happen! most companies charge delay time (after 2 hours) but the driver may be lucky to see $10-20 for 4-12+ hours waiting time, and still be expected to make the next days delivery on time. Some "big" trucking companies rate of pay is so low you'd have to run 4-5000 miles a week to make any money, which of course CANNOT be done legally (by a single driver) so theres the "catch22" time you figure in meals, expenses, etc it does'nt take an accountant to figure out how far you're in the shitter at the end of the week!..............................Mark
  8. Randy, this is a surprize to you? afterall it IS A MACK!!!!!! not like you bumped your head an went out an bought a peterbilt! or god forbid a V*L#O ! should'nt be at all surprized by performance, when you have a mans truck, you get a days work out of it! lol!............................Mark
  9. Paul,i'm not so sure MENTAL disabilities count regarding peterbilt owner/drivership!.................................Mark
  10. Tom,i have the very same truck in my collection! only difference is mine is red, green and white..............................................Mark
  11. Ever consider a 12 speed Mack trans? real nice in a vocational truck ie;wrecker, dump etc. good solid ,trouble-free trans in my opinion......................Mark
  12. Dont fret! i'll keep your secret! i'd sure like to have this one myself! if you can get it back to IL next spring maybe we can work something out! and i was thinking if this truck was equipped with log bunks, and from the west, that May be the factory wheelbase no? obviously not a factory sleeper, but it could be a start!................................Mark
  13. Excellent! welcome back my friend!...........................Mark
  14. Speed, i agree 100% if it was'nt so far away,i'd prolly jump on it,what i meant was EVERYTHING needs attention to make it a safe and roadworthy, when i do find the right truck i dont intend to do a ground-up restoration, just a fun driver for my own personal use, shows etc.but there again,i', not a person who believes in doing things "half-assed" so it would have to be done right ie: brakes tires etc. ya' know?.............................Mark
  15. That would be my guess as well!...................Mark
  16. Sure take a lot to bring this one back! looks like the hood might be laying on the ground in front of it,shame its so far away, cause i've always liked the B's with the L cabs, always thought they were good looking trucks, seems this guy has quite an assortment of Macks and other makes for sale, looking at the pictures and in the backgrounds....sure wish that was my backyard!...........Mark
  17. Rob,where are you? this one has you (and me) all over it!...............................................Mark
  18. Heres an oldie but a goodie!.......................................Mark
  19. I remember that! was holland or fontaine, seems to me it was a IH fleetstar or something like that, and the caption said something like "this fifth-wheel saved this drivers life"......................Mark
  20. Now heres a guy with talent!................Mark
  21. Very well put Paul! i stopped doing the car show "thing" for many of the reasons you stated,it seems it was more about who had the original GM tower radiator hose clamps on their $50.000 trailer queen camaro then having fun!old truck shows are much different! you can "bring what ya'brung" and everone still treats you the same,be it a rusty B-model,or a complete factory restoration. Its been my experience that old truck owners are much more fourthcoming with" who did what"and seem to be more willing to help someone just starting out, ours is supposed to be a fun hobby, and i see a lot more good then bad at ATHS etc. functions, and they seem to be much more family oriented than similar events for other forms of transpotation, just my opinion anyway.................Mark
  22. Randy, correct me if i'm wrong, but even if it's not YOURS,something (liquid) falling out of someone elses mouth would still then be considered "drool/dribble" no?......................................Mark
  23. Great looking LTH! any chance of putting up some more pictures? i like the "as used" look to an over restored showpiece, dont see many at all in that shape anymore! thanks for posting the info...........................Mark
  24. Here ya are Mike! i had a late uncle who drove a Diamond T 6X6 wrecker in Korea,(WW-II surplus) he said it was one HELL of a truck, pull anything,go anywhere,do anything he wanted it to do!...............Mark
  25. Glad to here all is well! ........................Mark
