  1. I was hoping someone would have some background on this company, have been past there myself a few years back, and wanted to stop and take some pictures but never seemed to have the time, kinda wish i had made the time now, cause when trucks like these are gone, their gone for good! be interested to read that story when you get around to it................Mark
  2. Been curious about that myself, since im not in Jersey anymore, dont hear all the "news" i used to! but i hope all is well myself, and sure hope he got straigtened out....................Mark
  3. This truck is still sitting in a salvage yard off I-295 in Jersey, there is also another one just like it at Haines towing and recovery in Bordentown,NJ not sure if its still in active use,but i have seen it run in person at a major accident on the turnpike a year or two back, this is one hell of a wrecker for sure!...........Mark
  4. Not judging by that set-up! that is one hell of a wrecker!.......................Mark
  5. Found a few interesting pictures of some heavy-duty Mack wreckers on a towing and recovery website, thought they might be of some interest..............Mark
  6. I agree, sure is nice to see someone who may or may not be "into" old trucks to take the time and make this kind of offer, maybe one more that wont end up being made into a honda or subaru eventually............thanks for posting!.........................Mark
  7. Sad to hear, but as Rob said,we cant save them all,i hate to hear about something like this, especially where a "little guy" is concerned, but from the sound of it,there was prolly nothing you could've done different. Could have had some type internal injury that was not easily noticed, but who knows?..........................Mark
  8. Tom,hows come every other picture you post of that thing, the hoods always up? just curious is all LMAO!....................................Mark
  9. Put me down for two (they are small)..........................................Mark
  10. Leslie, sorry about that,i spelled it wrong!..................its TECHTRAN without the "s" they have my set-up pictured on their website.....................Mark http://www.tectraninc.com/home.asp
  11. Looks to be used as either a spotter,"yard dog" or for local use, moving and storage companies are notorious for using equipment way past its prime mainly due to the nature of the business (light loads etc.) when i left Atlas Van lines in sept. 2006 after almost 20 years,my local agent was still using a 1972 R-600 almost daily, for both local and regional work, only major work ever done to it was to re-cab,with a newer plus 3 cab after a careless driver turned a corner to sharp and caved it in. I drove it myself on many occaisions,237- 5 speed,it was one of the least problematic trucks we had,i wish i had bought it back when i had the chance! and personally,i like the "old" glad hands and air-lines,less tangling and getting caught on the frame etc. changed my truck to straight air hoses years ago,and never looked back or had a problem, company named "techtrans" makes them, all three lines wrapped up as one, kinda like a 3 headed snake, real slick, and it looks a lot neater then them damn red and blues "curlieques"........................Mark
  12. Lincoln tech is the successor to Engine city tech correct? ECT was a really great diesel school, they built a 1/4 mile racing truck back in the seventies "shake rattle and roll" was a 1960's WHITE truck, with a supercharged VT-903 Cummins if i remember correctly, ran the 1/4 in something like 11.07 or thereabouts! as far as the type of engine,Mack builds/built some of the best truck engines ever, cant go wrong there! as far as horsepower etc. pump calibration, turbocharging, supercharging, rear end ratios are all factors in gaining both speed and horsepower, the use of an automatic trans. also factors in. May want to look at some of the "pulling trucks" used in tractor pull events for some ideas,i personally have seen a 6-cylinder mack E-6 making in excess of 1200 horse,so anything is possible, and Mack trucks inc. can be an invaluable source of information, technical specs,.what will and wont work etc. hope this is of some help..................Mark
  13. Found this on ebay, and even though i have an entire room full of "Mack shit" i have been collecting since i was a kid,i have never come across one of these before, anybody know what its significance is? sales award,Mack employee etc.? i have seen and own a few pewter Macks, but never before seen an R-model,prolly wont bid on it though, never have very good luck with that, seems i always get "sniped" with a minute or two to go!.....................Mark http://www.ebay.com/...=item4842559e2d
  14. Jay, i like that 9500 series GMC,always thought they were a neat looking truck, especially with a V-12 detroit,13 speed! damn snow out there allready huh? guess its about time to start getting my "winter shit" together!............Mark
  15. LMAO! nothing like wakin' up to a little turd in your work shoes!...........only thing our dog really chewed up when he was a puppy was an ENTIRE box of cheerios (box included) no harm done, but it sure gave the little guy some wicked gas! he stills shys away from the box now when my boy eats his breakast.....................Mark
  16. Found this Bighorn ad in some of my junk while looking for the "stars and stripes" Mack brochure for Rob,figuered BULLHUSK might get a kick out of it and the Jersey Mack fire engines!.......................Mark
  17. AAAH the joys of the old truck hobby! blood sweat and tears! but stick with it,cause the ends surely justifies the means, and makes the whole process worthwhile, sure something to stand back and be proud of when its all said and done!...........Mark
  18. Nice job Tom! thats just the right thing to do! never "bought" a dog in my life, and some of the best pets ever start out this way. Dog we have have now started out like this, people that had the litter was gonna take them all to the pound,we took in the last remaing pup, which was also the runt of the litter,an let me tell you,one of the best damn dogs we ever had! easiest dog to house break i've ever seen, and i feel better when i'm on the road that theres a FIERCELY loyal 120lb. German Shepard on the other side of the door looking out for my family! house without a dog just aint a home in my opinion! best of luck!..................Mark
  19. Good to hear she is on the mend! especially at such a young age, nothing to FU*K around with nonetheless! my wife is a registered nurse, and believe me,one little ache or pain and i hear about it! glad the proper attention was given before it got worse,l iost my dad to heart problems at 63,so i for one believe in keeping up with health issues...................Mark
  20. Rob,i have a copy of that brochure, trouble now is finding it! this is the paint scheme you meant right?................Mark
  21. "Hoss, you aint gonna believe this, but that crazy sumbitch tried to drive up under my truck"..........................................Mark
  22. In my opinion, the LT was one of the best looking trucks Mack ever made, and given their relative rarity,i think his asking price is reasonable alltough the Hall-Scott engine has no interest for me,this truck is prolly worth a LOT more than the asking price,i have have personally seen restored LT's sell for $100,000 plus! so if someone were to get it at a good price, put some more into it,there is still room to make money on it....................................Mark
  23. Surprizing to see that a 50 year old truck has stood the test of time, and looks much tougher than most anything produced today.............Mark
  24. A good liberal dose of Preparation-H cleared my tetrapoid problem right up!..............Mark
  25. That B-61T is right up my alley! hard to find the original grille guards anymore, this truck looks fairly complete as well....................Mark
