  1. My brother sent me a picture and link to a story about them moving flight 1549 from Jersey to the North Carolina air museum in Charlotte,(this is the one that crashed into the Hudson river, and no-one was seriously hurt) most Jersey guys will recognize J.Supor & Sons Trucking and rigging as the Heavy-haul carrier, some big equipment! (not many Macks sadly) but some really neat heavy-haul pictures on their website.............Mark http://www.jsupor.com/
  2. Well said Ernie! i wonder why people like us understand this? and the polititians don't??? i know they don't live in the "real world" like the rest of us do,but its about damn time somebody did! I deal with the general public almost everyday, and the opinion i get is,as long as people can get cheap shit for a good price, they don't care where its made! and this pisses me off! i mean we sell scrap steel to japan, korea, china etc.for pennies on the ton,and they send us cars back! I was really happy to see Mack put so many people back to work, and not just diggin ditches, but REAL,GOOD PAYING JOBS!!! i've been a life-long customer of Mack, and believe in the trucks they build, and have made my living with them for 30 years now! I just wish people would wake the hell up and DEMAND products BUILT,MADE,MANUFACTORED,ASSEMBLED, IN THE U.S.A!!! before its too late! you'd be surprized at just how few things are actually 100% American made, its a damn shame!....................Mark
  3. Don't know about any european models, the only one in the original movie was based on a Superliner II.............voiced by John Ratzenberger ( The mailman from cheers).........Mark
  4. I agree, don't care for it myself, too much BS for me! but it IS a Mack! thats gotta count for something! i don't even bother with the modern truck shows anymore, only so many petes and KW's i can look at! last time i went to MATS in louisville,i think there was one Mack in the "custom" show, really nice Superliner II,but the guy got zero recognition for all his effort and hard work getting the truck ready............................Mark
  5. I saw a post recently, about the new "Transformers" movie featuring some Mack models, just wondered why we don't have a restored Superliner touring the country to promote the new "Cars" movie? Our Aussie friends down under have a sharp looking Trident doing just that!...............Mark
  6. Thats the one! i remember James Whitmore driving a 53" or 54" Ford cop-car with the wide whites!
  7. Gotta slightly used hot rod model, with a pretty nice back bumper! cash or trade!
  8. Gotta agree there! a steam engine in all its glory is a real thing of beauty! especially in the wintertime..................Mark
  9. Come on down! have i got a creampuff for you!........Thats BR5-49! LOL!
  10. Yup sure do,he was (i think) the first deputy Matt had,LONG before Festus came along, but i liked festus myself! LOL!...............Mark
  11. That was a good one! that thing was pretty creepy looking,i remember it scared the piss outta my brother when he was a kid! he was in another classic sci-fi movie, dont remember what it was called, but it was all about GIANT ants that ended up in the sewer system in Los Angeles....................Mark
  12. Well,i have'nt encountered any snappers this week, nor suffered any real injuries, did make a bone-less porkroast on the grille, marinated with a little Beer, butter, onions, peppers and a little "Colonel Otherdog's Famous Hot Sauce" came out damn good! cooked over medium heat about 4 hours or so,damn near fell apart when it was done!.....my random thoughts usually have "a little more meat on the bone! LOL"..............Mark
  13. I liked all the westerns when i was a kid, still do today, but i think Steve Mcqueen was a REAL badass in "Wanted Dead or Alive" with that little sawed-off winchester,i found the whole series on DVD at wally-world,along with "Rat Patrol" always liked that one too!............Mark
  14. Some people are sure up on the current technology,i however, don't happen to be one of them! being tecnologically retarded i can barely operate the phone i have, which does nothing but make phone calls. My wife gets pissed at me, she will text me 8 paragraphs in 10 seconds,go into great detail about whatever the subject is,and i will text back "OK" maybe sometime i'll look into going completely wireless......................Mark (BR5-49)
  15. No,i sure wish it was mine! just a picture i found on the interweb a long time ago...............Mark
  16. Boy,that brings back some memories! thats the truck i was talking about, but when i saw them race they had'nt yet done all the safety stuff,(roll bars, fuel tank up on top of the frame etc.) he was still running basically "street stock"had the bunk, street tires, etc. i remember that truck running 120 Mph?? pretty sure it was a KTA-600 Cummins, when he mashed his motor,it made enough black smoke to make the sun go away! when it was over,he hooked up and went on home with a loaded trailer,i remember his name now that you posted the video,Kenny Farmer from Mt.Pisgah,AL think he had "Special K" painted on the back of the bunk?.......Mark
  17. Not really truck related, but i thought it was sad we lost an american icon in James Arness AKA Matt Dillon, spent many a saturday night watching Gunsmoke with my grandad. He loved this show! not many of the old time tv cowboys left anymore, which (in my opinion) is a real shame, look at the crap thats on tv now! no wonder kids don't have anyone to look up to! Matt always did the right thing, only shot the guy if he had it coming! i miss these days!...........Mark
  18. I remember seeing these trucks too,we went to a "big truck" race at Dover Delaware once,it was a nightmare! the track was banked WAY too steep for the trucks to run! i saw a lot of iron wrecked that day!i remember seeing a Corbitt truck,an Emeryville, and a REALLY nice W-900 KW,was orange/black ,double sleeper (flatop) with real chrome steel wheels, seems to me it was a twin-turbo KTA-600 Cummins,i can;t remember the guys name, but i think the truck was from NC,or TN was sponsered by "racoon mountain syrup" or something like that. Also remember there was a woman driver, shawna robinson??? she was running a 9500 series GMC like the one in your picture......................Mark
  19. I'm with you Tom! i spent many a summer in both the B and R-models working for my grandad, never really seemed to bother me back then, sometimes,i would even stretch out across the seat while waiting to un-load a catch a nap,but now it its not 43 degrees, and dark i ain't havin' it!..............Mark
  20. Pawel, here is a smaller picture that shows the orientation of the roof vent intakes on a basic R-model cab,as already stated the open end faces forward, this is for the roof-mounted fresh-air vent commonly found on older Mack models R,RW,RD,U ,etc..........hope this helps!..........Mark
  21. Wish i could get the time off to go! but as they say,"you gotta make your hay while the sun is shining"! worst part is,that when i lived in Jersey i was only about 2 hours from Macungie, but i have NEVER been to the show! i am going to make a concerted effort to try and make it next year, just with the way i work its hard to plan anything, course i havent had what you would call a "vacation" in prolly 10 years or more!.............Mark
  22. John, the new member posted this picture in a different post, its the "flagship" B-model cab...................Mark
  23. Very clever! maybe volvos new motto????.......................Mark
