  2. That was a dam good truck! only thing i did'nt like about it was,it had a straight-pipe,end of a 8-10 hour day i was deaf! LOL!............Mark
  3. Guess i skipped a few steps in the old truck pictures! i started out driving for my Grandfather, when he retired in 83" decided to sell the farm, part of the deal was that most of the equipment, trucks, tractors etc. were part of the deal and went with the land,so that put me pretty much out of a job,so i was lucky enough to get a job driving for another local farmer, doing mostly dump trailer work while contracted to a small trucking company.I hauled mainly glass sand, some gravel, stone etc. i really liked this truck,1977 R-model,300 plus, with a Mack 12 speed, was geared to run about 72 mph! i did this for about a year,i never really got comfortable with the end-dump,always thought i was gonna turn the damn thing over!...........Mark
  4. Thats some good ones right there! i always liked that long hood GMC,thought they was a neat looking truck!there was one around home when i was younger, with a 12V-71 in it,pulled a dump trailer, that sucker was LOUD!!!!!!!!!...........Mark
  5. FOR SHAME!..........i'm teeeellllliiiinnnnn!!!!!!
  6. Welcome aboard! B-75's a good looking truck,i always liked the "L" cab on a B-75 or 73 we would all like to see pictures! what part of Montana are you? i have a good friend (retired truck driver) who lives in Great Falls...............Mark
  7. J-U-N-K!.................Mark
  8. Figuered might as well put my current tractor on as well, kinda shows how far i've come (truckwise) my 2000 (titled as 2001) CX-613,E-7 460,13 speed road-ranger,100th aniversary edition, with 946,722 on the clock..............Mark
  9. That makes sense,i never thought to click on the picture and make it bigger! thats what i thought, (lugger body) just could'nt think of it! a mind is a terrible thing to waste LOL!................Mark
  10. David,i used to pick-up at a place called international box & partition, top of the hill(northeast side) in the industrial park, same exit as the T/A truckstop off I-81, i think its a weyerhauser plant now, maybe even closed,i have'nt been up that way in quite a while..............Mark
  11. What kind of a body is that on the B-model? don't remember seeing anything like that, looks like a roll-off type deal?...............Mark
  12. Small world Ernie, thats where that trailer came from! it was an older Gindy? maybe a Strick? cant remember which, but it was in pretty good shape for what we did with it. My Grandad NEVER bought anything new! seems to me it came from one of the storage trailer places over off Tonelle ave. over where Keystone has their dropyard now................Mark
  13. Well said Ernie! i think sometimes people take it for granted just how good we have it in this country, and just how indebted we are to our service men and women for making it that way! my Grandad had a good saying he read somewhere....it was, "if you can read, thank a teacher,if you can read in ENGLISH,thank a soldier!" ...........Mark
  14. Figuered i better pull out my old pictures too, while i was home and had the time. the B-model is the very first truck i ever drove, thats a much younger version of me standing in front of my Grandfathers R-685,which was the first truck i actually ran for a living,i ran 5/6 nights a week (depending on the season)from south jersey to Binghampton,NY with boxed apples north, then empty glass bottles or new boxes back to White house vinegar Co. in Glassboro,NJ. these are about the earliest picture i have from my own career, starting right around 1978/9...................Mark
  15. Tom,Mike must know something i don't know!,just re-read that post,and SHE'S outside mowing the grass!!?? LOL!..................Mark
  16. Best wishes for a happy birthday Leon!.................Mark
  17. Tom,i sure like seeing these pictures, even if sometimes their not the greatest! my dad liked the IH Transtars,he thought they were good trucks. The one in the picture was also a 903 Cummins (which my grandfather called a "9-0 Nuthin'") he had this one till 1971 when he ordered a brand new White-Freightliner C.O.E which was a 1693 TA caterpillar,13 speed road-ranger he leased on with North American van lines and stayed there for almost 30 years,he always told me the 1693 was one of the best engines he ever had. I always liked the looks of that Transtar Eagle, was a nice truck, the guy wrecked that one was sure lucky, looks bad!..........Mark
  18. Terry,i'm sure you are right,i get the 2 confused a lot of the time, but i do know this picture was taken around 1966,this was a VT-903,10 speed R/R best i can remember.................Mark
  19. Thank ya!,,,,,,thank ya! vurry much!................Mark
  20. Completely agree! i'm a 3rd generation driver myself,my grandfather drove trucks and farmed in south jersey almost 60 years,my dad ran trucks for almost 50 years, both are gone now,and there isnt a day goes by that i dont miss them! between the two they taught me most all i know about the trucking business (which was about half they knew!) my dad was also from the "old school" of drivers, clean courteous, and professional i have always tryed to conduct myself in the same manner. Not as easy as it used to be,considering the caliber of drivers out there today. I've been on the road almost 30 years now,and it seems to get worse everyday! the pride and professional coutesy among drivers is almost completely non-existant anymore!.......................Mark
  21. Sounds like you guys are having a good time! sure wish i coulda went, but had to work....anyway,hope you guys will take LOTS of pictures for the rest of us....Mark

  24. I know just what you mean, they've taken to stealing license plates around here! (for the inspection sticker) pisses me off the lazy,shiftless,no-good S.O.B's don't have to play by the same rules all the rest of us have to!.............Mark
  25. LOL! thats why i asked, bet its a BITCH trying to turn that thing around! good thing its out in the wide open spaces! i was kinda curious what the driveshaft configueration was like, one long shaft, then a carrier bearing? i also guessed around 360" 400" wheelbase.............Mark
