  1. LMAO! i been in that situation once or twice (in my younger days) jess hope i never meet what fits in them "drawers"!........Mark
  2. Thats a good looking truck, shame you had to let it go,but it looks like it will make the new owner a damn good truck!i'm not surprized somebody snapped it up so quick,a good R-model is'nt as easy to find as it used to be..............Mark
  3. LOL! i agree,i dont like all the added crap either! i also read an article about these statues,i dont know if its true, but there are supposed to be more of them in NJ than anywhere else in the country,i can think of at least 20 right off the top of my head within 25 miles of where this picture was taken.......Mark
  4. Ended up this week not far from my old hometown in Jersey, had to lay-over,as one of my stops closed early,so i decided to stop in for some hot-dogs (best in south Jersey) this is a combination flea-market and rodeo, supposed to be the oldest sanctioned rodeo on the east coast. This giant cowboy has been a local landmark since the 1970's,the S*J CX was just a bonus! as i was leaving,a sharp looking older model pete showed up (sorry Rob!)...did'nt really see anything else of much interest this week.............Mark
  5. Tom,Good to see you finally got to stretch her legs a little! hell with the neighbors! long as you're not breaking the law! theres a lot worse things you could be doing ya know? besides, everybody loves the smell of diesel smoke!dont they? BTW, happy (belated) birthday!.............Mark
  6. I believe Superdog is correct with the Orville Body works sleeper observation,i did a little research and came up with a few pictures for comparison. I also wondered about a BCR conversion, but looking more carefully at the picture,i think maybe this is a re-built wreck,or a re-cabbed older model truck from another manufacturer, reason i think that is the frame, fuel tank, steps on frame (just in front of the quarter fenders) and the dual exaust,Detroit maybe? but again this is just a guess...........Mark
  7. I agree! most "car guys" are "truck guys" at heart! LOL! thats a graet picture as well, thanks for posting it...........Mark
  8. Very asute observation! LOL! looks almost factory in some aspects,i could swear i've seen pictures of an early production F-model with "quarter windows" like this. But a nice looking job nonetheless!...........Mark
  9. http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kitsparts.html Hello Pawel, and welcome to the site! i am somewhat of a modeler myself, but being on the road leaves limited time for this hobby! i am impressed with the added details injector lines, etc. on the engine! your skills must have improved over the years! i have sent along a link that may be of some help, this company makes many of the parts you asked about, and the quality is second to none! it is possible to make a model of most any Mack in existance, only limits are imagination and budget! but many parts are available separately, and Dave does do special request type orders,as i am sure both reference materials and "aftermarket" building supplies are hard to come by in Poland? hope this helps, and good luck with your project!.....Mark
  10. Thanks! yeah, they are pretty much always on the lookout for "old truck junk" LOL!............Mark
  11. Thanks for the info! i did'nt even know it was an existing company! the book they found it in was an old school book from the VA Beach area,so that makes sense...........Mark
  12. My wife and son volunteer one day a month at our local library, and while going through a box of donated books, found this picture stuck between the pages in one of the books. No info is provided, only thing written on the back of the snapshot is "1967" if thats when it was taken, all of the trucks would be brand new! with maybe the exception of the White "compact" in the upper left corner. Anyone know anything about D.D. Jones trucking, Norfolk,VA ?...........Mark
  13. We have an owner/operator leased on with us that runs this setup in his Farmall,he loves the truck (2011 Prostar) but hates the engine, says he wishes he never got talked into it! calls it a "maxx- FARCE" engine! his biggest complaint (other than the lack of power) is also with the engine retarder (or lack there-of) he tells me retarder/slowing power is damn near non-existant! and no-one seems to want to stand behing their product!..........Mark
  14. Thanks David, that would be fine! just want to read the article, dont really need the magazine,i will PM you with my address..........Mark
  15. Just wondering if anyone has a copy of the Feb./Mar. 2010 issue (has a blue R-model wrecker on the cover)that they would part with?,it has a story about someone i know personally, and would sure like to read the article. Just PM me with price, details,etc..............Thanks! Mark
  16. These are kinda neat! i have a B-model grille shell that i thought about making some kind of shelf out of to display some of my B-model "model" trucks,i have come up with a few ideas, but there never seems to be enough hours in the day for "projects" such as this. Seems i no sooner get home, its time to pack my bags and head out again!............Mark
  17. Thanks for posting the picture! i always like to see these "when they were new"pictures,no doubt a good looking truck!..................Mark
  18. Starting from a dead stop at the bottom of a hill with a two stick trans. is indeed difficult to master, but not impossible....trick i use is to start in a low enough gear to let you climb the hill, and usually you only need to make one progressive shift in the compound. Personally i do not use the clutch, especially when shifting only the auxillary trans. it does take practice, but when you get the hang of it,its like second nature. It's kind of hard to explain something like this without actually being there in person, but i hope this is of some help!...............Mark
  19. Ernie,i remember seeing those S&S trucks always wondered what is like to drive one, dont look like much fun! even the mixers i see these days with the one man cab look like a pain in the ass to get in and out of! thanks for the info,i thought that cab looked familiar, just could;nt place it........Mark
  20. Mike, here are a few WW II Diamond T's,from what a have read, the most popular configueration was the heavy wrecker,by almost all accounts this thing was practically indestructable! tough looking truck!........Mark
  21. If you have a "Tractor supply" store in your area, they are one of the few places that sells wheels of time,as Tom said the website also sells back-issues................Mark
  22. Mike,i have visited the Studebaker Museum when layed-over in South Bend,it's well worth the trip in my opinion, they have a lot of neat displays and quite a few cars and trucks, one interesting item is a fully restored WW-II Army truck,a great gift shop, and an archives something akin to the Mack Museum, nice people and a nice visit, but it takes a few hours to soak it in!...................Mark
  23. Found this article in an old issue of Overdrive magazine, thought it might be of some interest. This truck is a 1958 Wide-track,built in california by the Cochran equipt.Co.,the chassis by Fabco Co., the cab by Chigago Cab Co. powered by a 262 Cummins with a 10 speed fuller trans. The owner/restorer bought it from behind a barn, thought it was so ugly, reminded him of Frankenstein! pretty un-usual truck, and rare! i have never heard of one,but it does remind me of a C.O.E FWD,Oshkosh also made a similar looking cabover in the 1960's........Mark
  24. I did'nt get to see it this week, bout time they put some Macks on camera! i usually don't watch it,as i cant take the "host" that guy is WAY too hyper! gets on my nerves!............Mark
  25. FOR SHAME! article 8 ,paragraph 4, section 398.9 of the bigmacktrucks charter cleary indicates all members shall be so equipped with camera, when old/interesting items are spotted. failure to do so can result in un-nesessary ridicule,a stern warning,or a beating! This ruling made possible by the honorable elustrious potentate Otherdog (esquire)............Mark
