  1. I too have heard that there is PLENTY of oil on U.S. soil,so why are we still dependant on foreign oil?,i don't have a clue! greed comes to mind, the U.S trying to make everyone in the world "happy" also figures in,gotta put some of the load on the "treehuggers" too! i personally wonder what will happen when fuel does go to a consistant price north of $4.00 a gallon? do you think Mr. and Mrs. john q. public give a shit that owner-operators are going in the poorhouse on a daily basis? i bet they will when a loaf of bread costs $5.00! shit rolls downhill, and its been said before, that the rising price of fuel will be passed on to the consumer, its time for us as americans to take back the counrty, before its too late,or learn to speak chinese so we can be prepared when the paper held on the U.S. comes due! i read an article not too long ago,and you'd be surprized at just how many damn few things are actually "Made in the USA" anymore! the county i live in in Virginia, has one of the highest un-employment rates in the state, and just lost two more plants recently, one to mexico, one to china! when is enough gonna be enough?...............Mark
  2. Not always a bad thing (running into a pirate) AAAAARRRR!
  3. I have always found the Mack Museum most helpful with any inquiries i have made, and even if they did'nt have the info i requested ,(rarely) they were able to point me in the right direction. Working on my quest,my grandfather was one of the first truckmen (in New Jersey) to use a factory installed "tag"axle on an AK-6,been trying for a long time to find a picture or info,as they just don't exist in family records. And you made very a true statement, the old time guys are fading fast, they can provide a wealth of info given the chance I read an article while on the road this week, that the VERY LAST WW-I (U.S.) veteran had pased away, pretty amazing, considering WW-I ended in 1918! i can only imagine the stories he had to tell!.................Mark
  4. I'm gonna have to go with Diamond T,looked long and hard for a cabover picture, this one sure looks close to me (with the exception of the crew cab)look at the shape of the panel on the side of the hood, next time i get up that way,i will try and check it out to make sure...............Mark

  13. I read somewhere that Maine has no poisonous snakes, not sure how true it is,something about the average temperature never getting warm enough till late in the year.......Mark

  15. Hey Randy, great pictures! youda' made Otherdog proud! LOL! those Heavy-haul KW's look like the same outfit that hauled a similar load down here about 6-7 months ago, some kind of generator. I was on the road when it came,so i was'nt able to take any pictures, course Mrs.Vision is not near as interested in trucks as i am!but she saw one of the "push" trucks on the local news,an told me it was a Mack. Said it came in from overseas at the port of Newport news,VA and took 5 days to get here (about 300 miles) seems to me company was from Pennsylvania somewhere..........Mark
  16. Thought you'd like that! thats quite the "Winchester" right there! LOL! sure clean out a "dairy lagoon" right quick!.........Mark
  17. Almost forgot to answer this one! its a Mexican PENA' 335 Model( no,its not a Dina) built from obsolete Autocar parts, circa 1965 only a few were built in this configuration, the company went bankrupt (who da' thought?) so thet only turned out a few, neat thing is the article where i found this, said that the tooling still exists(as of 2009) to make all the sheetmetal parts! kinda neat to build a new integral sleeper A-car today!...............Mark
  18. Really only one surefire way to get rid of snakes (and fire-ants) gotta' use a small varmint rifle like this one!...........Mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65phWh1Ck0A&feature=watch_response

  20. Navistar extreme road test huh? looks like the may have their trucks mixed-up! if you click on the picture, whats on the bumper appears to be some sort of driving light bracket, much like they use in Austrailia? thats what it looks like to me anyway................Mark
  21. I could prolly handle the second shift LOL! just gotta remember my ear plugs!...........Mark
  22. Ernie.looks to be in pretty nice shape!(i like the 72 myself) i think Rob is right about the cowl extensions, and i would imagine the hood is longer than stock, the engine itself seems too long to fit the standard hood, maybe some sort of small doghouse in the cab? i relly cant say for sure, cause i've never seen a factory V-12 in a Mack (in person)only Brockways,GMCs,Autocars etc. would sure go nice with your huskypup! LOL!........Mark
  23. Trent, have you checked out the 1971 RL-700L in the classifieds? it is reported to be one of 3 with a factory installed 12-V-71 Detroit, has a good picture attached,i too have never seen one in person (not from the factory anyway)...........Mark
  24. SNAKES! why did it have to be snakes!? I HATE SNAKES!!!!!
  25.
