    Seriously?

No kiddin! i called about an RL-700 dumptruck for sale down here a few weeks back, guy only wanted $2000.00 for it! (had a cracked head, not running) but guy sold it before i ever had a chance to look at it up close! he wanted to keep the dump body,so the guy that bought it got cab/chassis for $1500.00!..........Mark
  2. I think we should all discuss some type meeting at one of the Mack events,be a once in a lifetime thing, who knows, maybe turn out to be an annual get-together,look at all the damage we do here on the interweb! imagine that in person! be nice to put a face to some of the names on here, and i for one can talk a lot faster then i can type! and none of us are getting any younger!.....just a random thought!.........Mark

    Seriously?

Just checked it out,you gotta be shittin' me! i think someone has bumped their head!..............Mark
  4. Everyones entitled to their opinion, which is why i voiced mine,if you look back a few years in the not-so distant past, you can see examples of just how Volvo "saved" other heary truck manufactuers...........they "saved" AUTOCAR,then they "helped" WHITE, then they lent GMC/ Chevrolet heavy duty trucks a" helping hand"! all gone, never to return! and if not careful,Mack may be lead down the same path to destruction! all in the name of the almighty dollar (or lack there of) so,contrary to popular belief,i'm sticking by my guns on this one,i DO hope Mack will get turned around and be what it once was,but i don't believe Volvo has as much faith in the product as we, the end users do. Quality,fit-finish issues(with Mack) have gotten WORSE since the merger, not better! dealer/service issues are WORSE since the merger, parts availability is MUCH worse! but the trucks continue to be more complicated, more expensive, less durable.....so i too, will just wait and see............Mark
  5. I've said it before,an i'll say it again! i give you flatbedders all the credit in the world! i would much rather blindside into that 18' wide alley anyday then fool with all those tarps, chains, etc.! but i'm bullheaded like that! LOL!......you give me too much credit! i'm just doing a job like anybody else!LOL! (granted, not too many people WANT to do my job!)........Mark
  6. I did get to see the show in Baltimore,i was still living in Jersey at the time, and all the stars and moons lined up right for a change! plus,it was only about 60 miles away,we had a GREAT time, tons of trucks (lotta Macks),good food, even seen some half nekkid wimmin!!!i was like a fat kid in a candy store! i bob-tailed to the show,so if you came in a truck, you did'nt have to pay or look for a place to park! the guys put me right by the entrance/exit,hung a big banner on my truck "welcome to Mack counrty"! i wish there was another one planned closer to home, last thing i want to do on my time off is travel! but thats the only one i have been to myself, the next few years aint lookin'good either, their all out west!........Mark
  7. I tend to agree with Griffy, given that i don't know much about the brand,i think they would yield good service on a hobby or limited use truck, but for day to day over the road service,i have always used Michelins on everything i've ever had (truckwise) and have nothing but good things to say about them. My CX was originally equipped with Goodyears, which in my mind did'nt last near as long as they should have, but gave me no trouble with pre-mature failures and the like,i think mine is more of a personal preference, but for that price,i'd be inclined to try em'!................Mark
  8. Welcome aboard! there are some damn good guys on here, can pretty much steer you in the right direction just for the asking!.....just as long as you have a thick skin, and can take some lighthearted "abuse" now and then!.................Mark
  9. In my own feeble mind,i always thought a "heritage" type truck, based on the R-series platform was a good idea, like they did with the RD-series right before they were discontinued,so many people, especially in the constuction/vocational areas were loyal to the R-model,and i think even today, with the track record they have, the R-series is STILL a viable truck, even with the electronics,EPA crap nessesary in todays market. There is NO tougher cab, frame, components etc. offered by any manufactorer out there! (in my opinion) even the current Mack/volvo bastard does'nt do whats expected of it! and i'll be dammned if i'm gonna spend a $100.000+ on a new dumptruck thats in the shop every other day! i mean look at the Titan, how many have you seen on the road? i have seen ONE in actual service,in the years since it was introduced!......how many R-models do you see still runnin' around? if it ain't broke, don't fix it!..............Mark
  10. I watched the show as well,i came away thinking the whole thing was kinda' "hokey" i mean,Slagle never answered any specific questions or concerns that the Baltimore parts guy brought up,i thought he kinda "glossed over" things with the typical corperate BS! sure, its nice to donate money to people in need, but Mack already donates a LOT of money to charitable organizations, and its a tax write-off, so it is expected to some degree. I'm no executive by any means, but i think the CEO SHOULD be more "hands on" and aware of the people who work for you,and how things are done in a plant YOU are resposible for! it reminds me of the Civil war! Mack guys (and girls) working side by side with "volvo people" and they wonder why morale/production figures are down? and if any of the rumors ARE true,Mack moves a plant to Mexico, that'll be the last one i buy! and the end of the road for the Mack truck that we all know and love!.....and just for the record, i personally don't think Volvo "saved" Mack at all, quite the contrary! i'm putting on my "flak-jacket" as we speak! but thats just my opinion!...Mark
  11. Well said!..........Mark
  12. I was browsing around Hanks truck pictures today, and found this H-model,my question is, does anyone know what the small box behind the stack contains? its kinda hard to make out,but it almost looks like it says Thermo-king on it,i see the truck is equipped with roof-top air conditioning,my thinking is maybe this is some-type early self-contained compessor unit? never seen anything like this mounted on this early a truck, just curious any ideas?..........the pictures blow up a lot better on hanks, kinda hard to see here..............Mark
  13. Seems to me i read something about this one on here a while back,if memory serves it was a state D.O.T dumptruck? or a railway serice type truck? anyway,it sure is a rare bird! be nice to see someone with deep pockets bring it back to life!.............Mark
  14. Nice looking work Leon, that sure is some bright GREEN paint on the trim! but looks good in contrast to the black!...........Mark
  15. Meanwhile, across town,"mother of the year" has her own business to handle!........
  16. I like the one with the snowshovel! thats a good one! LMAO!!!!!!!!...................Mark
  17. Yeah i think thats it! tired of being cooped up inside! i got truck cleaned up,went to wal-mart,post office, grocery store, came home and got my grill cleaned up,put a tailight in Mrs.visions car, came inside a few minutes ago and caught the last few minutes of "True Grit" on TV.....got some "bubba burgers" on as we speak with all the fixins!i wish somebody would come up with a good joke or something too! been a long week! i've checked in a few times myself this week, not much going on...........Mark
  18. Most of you guys know i'm originally from New jersey,so i kind of keep up with the local news from my old home state, found an article about an artist having an exibition in the capitol art center, mostly landscapes, bridges etc. but i did find some of his subjects to be interesting! pretty nice work no?........Mark
  19. Nuff said!...............Mark
  20. Glad to hear your wife is doing better! have a good trip, truck safe!...........Mark
  21. Try this one,it goes into a little more detail, you can see the driver hooking up air/electric lines to the transfer, and un-hooking when he's done....Crazy canadians in this one!,hope you can stand the "hindu" music towards the end,but a neat video non-theless! if you watch carefully, you can kind of see how it operates...........Mark
  22. Found this through the site Tom (otherdog) found, looks like maybe our Aussie friends are cutting back on the "road trains" downsizing maybe? seems to me like they were bigger LOL!.............Mark
  23. Thats a neat site! glad you came across it!..............Mark
  24. Worst mess i ever saw like that was at exit 7,getting on the Turnpike, a tanker load of raw hersheys chocolate syrup turned over, broke in half on the get-off ramp coming south right at bordentown by the truckstops...they had fire trucks out there washing down the road! that S**T was an inch thick, and covered half a sqaure mile! was running down the overpass like brown snot! nasty, nasty mess! LOL!..........Mark
  25. The one that i looked at up close had a cable (like a roll-off) to draw the loaded box into the dump body, once inside,it has a latch (like a dump tailgate) to keep it in place, this was a few years ago, they may do something different now......the one i saw was a real nice RL-700 Mack, driven by a pretty nice lookin' woman, this girl was about 120 lbs. 5'4" if that, and the R-model did'nt have power steering, and was a duplex, she did better with that truck then a lot of the men out there that day! she was the winner in the overall speed competition.....Mark
