  1. And these are usually the people who bitch loudest when their truck blows up! "i take good care of MY truck!" we just changed that filter 3-4 years ago, whata we made outta money?? LOL!.......Mark
  2. Found this website kinda by accident, they have some neat stuff! reproduction prints of old advertising, and some re-prints of factory owners manuals etc. A lot of Mack stuff!......Mark http://www.allvintagetrucks.com/Home.htm
  3. Bob,on the F-models,maybe try the "sympathy card" on the ol lady! pinch yourself (hard) so a tear comes in your eye, then say "babe, i used to drive one just like this when i was younger, just cant stand to see it go to thr junkyard"! works for me anyway! LOL!................Mark
  4. A local dumptruck outfit around here recently switched back to Macks after KW left a bad taste in their mouth! they were just too lightweight(T-800's),not heavy speced. they had numerous frame/crossmember failures. The driver i know said they put 2 sets or rears in his truck before "unloading" it on some other poor un-suspecting bastard! fleet is i'd say, 90% Granites now..........Mark
  5. I dont know, havent been able to find out anything about it,i'm guessing its canadian though,by the "B" train flatbed W/lumber in the first picture....Mark
  6. Way things are going, may be time to look into starting our own army! looks like the perfect vehicle to patrol the border in Arizona!............Mark
  7. lookin' good! work fast, maybe have it done for the annual show in Cortland? LOL! i have wanted to go to that one since it started, never made it yet!.....Mark
  8. Heres the video i found, notice this one has the "gun-ring" mounted too......Mark
  9. Rob,i agree,i've only seen 30 cal. on this type mount too ,"duece and a half" GMC etc. but the article accompanying this picture says it was a 50 cal.undergoing tests at the Aberdeen proving grounds in Maryland in august 1943 Extra "beefy" five man cab, heavy duty gun mount with the idea of supporting the 5 man crew of a 155 MM "long-tom" artillery piece. I have been trying to find out if any of these were built with a diesel engine,so far have found no evidence to support or deny it. The reason i was curious is that i saw a video on youtube of an NO,and the caption states its diesel powered, but does'nt go into any detail. It sure sounds good though!........Mark
  10. Do my eyes decieve me,or is that a sleeper on this MR?.....i've only ever seen a handful of twin-screw MR's,but NEVER one with an add-on bunk. Anybody know anything about this?...............Mark
  11. Iffn you're going to play chicken, then you need the genuine accessory roof mounted 50 cal. browning machinegun!.............Mark
  12. I sure enjoyed those pictures as well! nice lookin mack, and model T! i find a metric socket and a "dead-blow" hammer works best on my computer! LOL!...Mark

  13. Here's one you don't see very often,an NO model military chassis, with heavy duty wrecker body, have no further info on this paticular truck (specs.,location,etc.) but its a Big-en!.........Mark
  14. This is an H-67,1960's vintage.................Mark
  15. I have a friend up in jersey thats a driver for a mid-size Haz-mat carrier (S*J transportation) he tells me they are "phazing out" all the Macks in the fleet!(to be replaced by Peterbilts) S*J was a longtime user of macks of various models F,R,RD,MH,CH,CX etc. they were even granted their own service/parts franchise by Mack. He said the reason he was told, was poor dealer/warranty support, problematic un-reliable trucks! Hard for me to see anything but a Mack pulling one of their trailers,as i grew up right down the road from their terminal. I for one, wish i knew what goes on at Macks corp.headquarters! seems to me Mack is not as interested in retaining long time customers as it once was, even in the specialty/vocational fields! i'm sure the swedes have something to do with it,but seems support for the "little guy" is almost non-existant anymore!.............Mark
  16. I have to agree on the worth it part! an H-61 is a realtively rare bird anyway! sure be good to see one up and running,or at least know its not headed for the scrapyard! best of luck with the project, hope you are able to get some more pics up at some point..............Mark
  17. Indeed, not many at all around anymore, these were pretty few and far between even when new. I have only ever seen one in person!.........Mark
  18. Thanks James! glad to see SOMEONE agrees with me on that! thought sure i was gonna get hammered on here talking bad about the "show"!.............Mark
  19. YUP! the article i read where that picture came from, said they were running a recording tach, topped out at 3490 RPM,and approx 120 psi boost pressure before it came apart!.....Mark
  20. just dont let this happen! Cummins N-14 running Lucas products, I'm just sayin'is all! LOL!......Mark
  21. I very seldom watch TV,especially the "reality" shows. The whole ice road trucker deal is BS as far as i'm concerned! if they want to see reality and tough trucking, they should ride with me for a week! so they have to drive 15 MPH all day? no traffic,no scales no nothing! BOO frickin'HOO ! i'd like to see that crybaby woman on there blindside into a dock off amsterdam avenue in NYC at 4:30 friday afternoon, put a 53' across 6 lanes of traffic,or do 15-20 stops on Long island, then we'll see whats what! I did see one episode from india or wherever the hell they are now,and anyone dumb enough to drive one of those tinkertoy trucks they have over there made out of wood and bailing wire, split rim wheels, air over hydralic brakes,no safety equipment whatsoever, just to be on TV deserves to get what they have coming!........my apologies to the fans of IRT! Mark
  22. Hey Tony, thats a great find for sure! glad to see another one saved from the scrapyard!..................Mark
  23. If only we still had a PRESIDENT that gave a damn about our country!................................
  24. I once re-jetted an old Carter AFB carburator for a friend of mine on our kitchen table, used (un-known to me) a "good" dishtowel for a shop rag,Mrs. Vision was not happy! did'nt go good at all for me!................Mark
  25. Lookin' good Rob! very nice! may be a little off topic, but a prefer the older "lowback" seats,i'm sure i am in the minority here, but take it from someone who has spent a LOT of time in a truck seat,i can never seem to get comfortable in a high back seat for some reason. I wish they were still a viable option on newer OTR trucks, dont get me wrong, the OEM (bostrom) seats in my CX are nice, leather, embroidered with the Mack logo, heated, swivel etc. i still like the old lowback seats better, maybe its just me or old age?.............Mark
