  4. Trent, thats a nice looing job! i have a Kysor brand LED clock in my bunk, that fits in a standard gauge hole, the display/backlight is green, kinda match the dash and it works well, keeps good time too! fill up that empty hole! LOL!..............Mark
  5. I gotta'go with Rob on this one (sorry Randy!) i have never heard anything negative about lucas products, and dont believe they will "hurt" the engine, just not a believer in oil additives myself. I have never run any type additives,so i may not be the most qualified to answer, but i get an oil sample every change,or if i notice anything unusual, and have never had a problem running straight oil in the engine,i DO however run synthetics in the trans.and rears, and like the added benefit of cooler temps in both. The only real additive type product i use is Marvel mystery oil (in my high mileage personal vehicle).............Mark
  6. I like these too,i have never seen one in person,i did see a cabover Hayes once, but it used a peterbilt cab,saw it in a junkyard up in Montreal.Mark
  7. You're on the right track....................
  8. Thats a real shame! i really like the "L" cab on a B-model,prolly sit there till its too far gone to do anything with!
  9. Good guess, but you guys are at the wrong end of the compass!
  10. A big ass motorcycle, a big ass dog, a big ass trailer...................................
  11. Man i know thats right! i deliver furniture to big city hotels sometimes, and most of the time its a "mixed" load, meaning all sorts of things that go in the hotel, usually unloading is done by otherwise un-employed union members, so lamps have to be carried off the truck by electricians, bathroom fixtures by plumbers, wooden furniture by carpenters etc.! then there are the mandatory 1/2 hour breaks (1-2 hours) the hour lunch break (1-2 hours) which they normally return from drunk! "grievances" against members who have carried the "wrong" thing off the truck,so what could normally be accomplished in a few hours by me and a few professional movers for 2 or 3 hundred dollars takes all day sometimes into the night at a cost of several THOUSAND dollars! and we wonder why things cost so much, and why all the good jobs are going overseas! i have nothing personal against unions, think they were good at one time, but i really dont think someone working in a car factory in detroit should be "entitled" to make $80.00 an hour to screw a mirror onto a car door! when we're hemmoraging jobs here everyday! i'm thinking of learning to speak chinese so i'll be ready when our new masters take over!.............Mark
  12. Seems like everybody kinda likes this,so i found another one.....Clue- its NOT an Autocar!...........Mark
  13. Man o man! thats one SCARY sign right there! cant be a "real" Texas sign though, (no bulletholes)....Mark
  14. I am fortunate to work for a small enough company that does value their employees, and those that have earned it are given due respect, and i agree with Gambi, seems the F*#@ups are given every chance in the book and still manage to make it bad for everyone else! i have interviewed several potential drivers on my companies behalf, and their list of demands and what they will or wont do comes into play immediately! especially with regard to what i do,does NOBODY want to work anymore? i've heard "i dont touch freight","i dont go to New york","i dont drive at night etc." i usually respond with "well, what DO you do?!!!!!! i do realize specialized LTL is not for everyone, but we have not been able to hire/retain anyone in the last few years! and given the current economy,i cant figure out quite why.......Mark
  15. Texans take their state VERY seriously! wanna make one mad, just tell them you heard Texas was the biggest county in Oklahoma!.....Then run!
  16. I hate to see anyone taken advantage of by these type pirates! especially women! normally i take care of all our vehicle maintenence, but recently while i was on the road,my wife told me something was wrong with the right front tire on her car,(which both were wearing prematurely) described the problem to me over the phone,(cord showing through sidewall) so i says "take the car back to wal-mart,these are waranted for 60,000 miles" so she goes back, explains the problem, they say "sorry lady we dont carry those tires anymore, guess you're SOL!' so she gets the manager involved, there "cure" is to knock $15.00 off the price of 2 new tires, and "backdate' the new warranty against the old tires! so i tell her to take the car home as-is, and drive my pickup till i get home, and I'LL pay wal-mart an angry bob-tail visit! so i made Goodyear aware of wal-marts waranty practices with their brand of tires, and after a few choice words in person, and a call from Goodyears service rep,we got 4 new tires (with day one 60k warranty) for free, the service woman fired,(with a better understanding of the "JERSEY" attitude) all and all a good day!...........nice to piss a little"goodnews" in somebody elses ear for change!...........Mark

  22. Kind of a morbid subject, but one we all have to deal with eventually. My dad took his last ride in his beloved Peterbilt 359 (i know,i know!) after he was cremated. My dad drove trucks all his life, and at my mothers request this was deemed a fitting tribute to someone that spent 50 years in the cab of a truck! our funeral director was more than accomodating with this unusual request, and i was happy i was able to do it for him. I actually parked his truck in the "loop" in front of the funeral home,so people could have a better look at what he made his living with,i had spent the 2 prior nights polishing/cleaning etc. wanted it to look good, and it helped to take my mind off of things. When he looked down, (or up LOL!) i'm sure he would have been proud! My wife is fully aware that my last ride will be in a Mack when my time comes!.................Mark
  23. Rob,sounds like a little "creative bookeeping" may be in order! maybe you can claim "peer pressure"?....whatever you do,for reasons of personal safety,NEVER LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL!.............Mark
