    41 Chevy:

Hey Paul, have a good one!..................Mark
  2. Where are you at in south jersey? i'm born and raised in Elmer (salem county) moved to virginia about 3 years ago...there is a South jersey shore chapter show (ATHS) at the salem county fairgrounds every spring,Philadelphis chapter up in burlington,NJ.....chances are i can put you in touch with someone around South jersey may be able to help you out. I grew up on a farm in Monroeville,NJ lived there almost all my adult life!..............Mark
  3. Theres a 1971 F-model for sale on oldmacks.com,been on there for quite a while, dont know what the deal is,looks to be in pretty fair shape..........Mark
  4. I agree! when i was still doing broadway shows for the company i'm leased to,we toured together sometimes MONTHS at a time, same trucks, same show crews,so you get pretty familiar with eachothers operation. We had an O/O team (husband-wife) if anybody ever should not have owned a truck,it was these two! once they had an alternator go (60 series detroit/freightliner FLD 120) no idea how to change it,so after i run them to the shop to purchase a new one...."i havent got any money" so i loan them the cash to get one, meanwhile my other driver has everything pulled apart and ready to go,on THEIR truck! so we get back,i decide to go ahead and put the new alt.on (we are under a serious time constraint) so i'm getting it bolted on,last thing i tell the woman is "DO NOT START THE ENGINE!" she is sitting in the truck daydreaming, husband goes to eat! well sure enough, she hears "start the engine" bumps the starter, runs my index finger between the belt and pulley (yes,it seated!)damn near cut my finger off, mashed it flat! so after a few chice words we were done, able to travel....now this was an old SWIFT truck, puchased for $50.000! at the time they OWED $75.000 on it! bald tires, dont think it was ever serviced, when they went to get new steer tires, the tire shop refused to put new ones on,he had it up on a lift, showed it to me,needed kingpins, shocks, tie rod was bent, never ever greased,springs/shackles wore out just needed whole new front-end! last i saw them, truck had been repossed, they had "borrowed" $25.000 from clark,$200.00 from me (never got it back,or as much as a thank-you!) so some people sure deserve what they have coming! last i heard they were working for werner, clark sued them for the money, dont think they'll ever collect! we have hired some real winners in the last few years!...........Mark
  5. Found a good picture of a relatively rare B-71,looks to be a fairly recent photo, was wondering if anyone on here knew who it belongs to,or some further info,specs.etc........Mark

  11. Hey Tom,i just ordered the Brockway jersey turnpike snowplow (belated X-mas/birthday present to myself) really a nice truck! thats how i found the site, seen it on EBAY $90/100 bucks,on sale here for $59.00 could'nt pass it up!............Mark
  12. Being an EX bedbugger,(Household mover)i am almost ashamed to admit all i carry with me,i have more equipment in my trailer than some people carry freight!.......if i ever do come out of this truck, its gonna take me a month to clean it out! But i DO believe in being prepared! long story short,i carry a LOT of things with me! But i also believe everyone should carry at least a basic set of handtools (even company drivers) i dont know how many guys i've seen stranded, unable to change a fuel filter or something simple like that because of company policy, I'll be dammned if i'm gonna freeze! company policy or not!..............Mark
  13. Have you been looking in my sidebox? that sure sounds like a Jersey hit-man ditch kit to me!....good enough for Jimmy hoffa, good enough for me! only things you forgot were Hacksaw, pliers, fake I.D,travel papers.................
  14. Hey Ernie, congrats on the new addition! sounds like a hell of a deal! i hope you can figger out out to get some pictures of it on here,i would sure like to see it.I have seen some of the heavy haulers use a fifth wheel like the one you described, like superdog said, they were used for going over rough terrain, usually pulling a lowboy. I was going to PM you anyway, seen something that might be of interest to you, WWW.Firstgeartrucks.com (curtis collectables)has a Mack granite model in Colonial colors, your old outfit no? i thought you might like it,its a little on the pricey side! but sure look good on your desk! just go to that site, click on granite mixers you can read all about it,i could'nt get the linky thing to work, not very good at all this computer BS!..........Mark
  15. I realize weight is not a concern, but i was always curious why Martins insisted on running "spoke"wheels on all their equipment, seems to me steel or aluminum wheels would be more appropriate at trade-in time for re-sale etc......just a thought, Mark
  16. I've seen a few of these on the road, never in action,i always wondered how they worked....FDOT may need one up around jacksonville,i have seen as much as .0001 inches of snow there on several ocaisions!................Mark
  17. Super secret spy photo shows another Trusty/crusty Dodge being worked on on the other side of the garage!..................
  18. I feel sorry for the younger generation thats never expeienced the drive-in!......there is still one open near here, across the border in NC,we have yet to go. The car i wish i'd kept was a 1967 Pontiac le mans,326,3 speed, with a GTO front clip, bought from a wrecking yard before it was a "classic" i repainted it in late model GM "firethorn" metallic, ran american racing wheels on BF goodrich white letter radials, which was the "in" thing at the time, along with bright yellow traction bars, and the requisite Sun super tach. This car was a real screamer! 4:11 12 bolt posi rear from Pontiac station wagon, the car ran great, but at the time i had my heart set on a pick-up,so i traded the Le mans for a 70 chevy pick-up,which i still have today, ironically the last re-paint i did on my truck was 1969 GM "Le mans" blue, using dupont centari, its really held up great, other than the rockers/cab corners starting to show some rust, which was common to these trucks. It was originally "baby shit" green & white,327,3 speed on column, though i have retained the original drivetrain,it currently has a "warmed-up" crate 350, edelbrock intake, etc.and an M-22 "rock crusher" trans. This is a family member as well,my wife is fond of saying she will have me buried in my pick-up! pick-ups are a hot commodity here in the south, and i have turned down a LOT of money for the truck, just can't bear to part with it! everytime i drive it i'm 17 again!LOL!......Mark
  19. Before i moved here from NJ,i found a 69 442,triple black (factory) 4 spd.muncie,P/S etc.that sat behind a building, tried for YEARS to buy it,"No,no he's gonna' fix it up somday" after the owners died/moved away,i inqiured one last time, and yes it WAS for sale (25K) but by then it had been picked over ,and was too far gone to bring back.......Mark
  20. Sand used for traction? mounting an up-hill battle?.....................
  21. That appears to be the current state of "cool" so,i guess that makes me out of touch as well! i always liked the 69 front end treatment better than the 68,my dad had a 69 very similar to this one, cept' his had a black vinyl top,425,four-speed....which was replaced with a 70 buick estate wagon when my younger brother arrived.....this is what that car SHOULD look like!...................Mark
  22. Quite right! should have put a little more thought into it,after all i will be in FLORIDA,perhaps i should have chosen a vehicle to allow me to travel "incognito" ,blend in with the locals, while retaining the musclecar "spirit".................Mark
  23. Man,thats a lotta' engine stuffed up under that hood!..............Mark
  24. Wish it was just that easy, but i have already ordered YOUR new truck, found a cheap place to stay, even managed to locate an economy car to run around in while i'm in florida!......Mark
  25. Dont know about Sealy,i was thinking that ass was a good substitute for a topographic map of the moon!...Mark
