  1. They have a few of his photos inside, they are really something! that guy was quite the photographer! only thing i thought was strange is that almost all of his pictures were taken at night, there is one of a drive-in movie taken mid-fifties with a steam engine passing in the background that i really liked.......Mark
  2. That is a neat picture!.........Mark
  3. I was sure i had seen it somewhere before,i have to say the build quality, fit/finish is first rate, whoever painted it did a real nice job as well!.....Mark
  4. I thought i've seen it on here, was'nt sure......they are looking for volunteers to help with the trucks they have now, the H-model is next on the list, but their kinda short in the money department (aint we all?) but it needs a LOT of work! i looked it over pretty hard, did'nt see anyplace where there was'nt any rust!...........Mark
  5. I had an unusual day off in the middle of the week,my family and i went to the transportation museum up in roanoke thursday, they have some really nice things on exibit, mostly train related, but much to my surprise, i looked down between the 2 largest trains they have ,and see a fully restored B-model!. Walking around out back, they also have an H-67,a 1965 crakerbox GMC,a couple of Reo's,a Diamond Reo wrecker, and a 260 series Brockway, they were all pretty hard to get good pictures of,as they are awaiting restoration,in various stages of disarray, not really part of the display area yet. They kinda' have them hidden for the most part, but i thought i would try to get some pictures anyway! BTW, i'm pretty sure i have seen the B-42 on here, not sure what its story is,other than the fact its on permanent loan to the museum..............Mark
  6. You have come to the right place for helpand advise,a B-model is a real good choice for restoration,as you get into it,you'll find north jersey can be a treasure trove of parts if you know where to look. I'm originally from south jersey, moved to virginia about 2 years ago,and you will find its pretty easy to get involved in the old truck hobby up there....you will need a CDL (air brakes) and jersey is pretty lienient with classic/historic tags...the north jersey metro chapter of the ATHS is also an invaluable resource for parts, contacts and hands on experience...hope this of some help, and good luck with the project!.........Mark
  7. Thats what i was thinking, mystic had a lot of really sharp equipment back in the day! i thought i saw a T-800 KW in there colors up on the turnpike the other day........Mark
  8. So good so far,i started on a new account about a month and a half ago, pretty much get to pick where i go,i have about 65 loads on paper, its a LOT of stops per load, lotta work,i really gotta hustle! but its workin out pretty good moneywise,i get home a little more frequently, saving a lot of wear and tear on the truck as well,my average outbound load is only about 18-21,000 lbs! only downside i can see is there is a LOT of new england, not my favorite area of the country to truck! other than that its pretty decent!.........Mark
  9. No doubt! LOL!..........so hows the road treating you? havent seen you on in awhile.....Mark
  10. Man thats rough! but S**T happens! don't mean ya gotta like it though!.......my one and only experience with a wrecker cost me a little over $800.00 for a little less than 20 miles! i have always thought maybe i was in the wrong business!......Mark
  11. Ya know, all the times i've looked at that picture,i JUST NOTICED there is a mailbox!....neighbor of mine had an old steel wheeled john deere tractor in his yard, mailbox bolted to the hood! i think the most unusual one i've seen is down here,up about 20-30 miles north of me,a family has a crosley station wagon parked beside the driveway, mailbox cut into the hood!...........Mark
  12. Sometimes ya just have to!.....only thing ya can do! Mark
  13. We ordered a new mailbox a few weeks ago, finally came in yesterday, got it painted put together, just have to "mack" it up a little bit, before i put it up.............Mark
  14. now you know the old saying,"if its got tits or wheels,be prepared to put out LOTS of money"!...................Mark
  15. Hersheys about the best place i can think of to find something like that, maybe fall carlisle,or englishtown,NJ i was reading in a issue of hemmings motor news about a guy that restores and customises vintage plates, just seems truck and commercial plates are a lot harder to come by!........Mark
  16. Guess that depends on who's doing the washing/waxing!...............Mark
  17. I agree with superdog on this one,i like the looks of the flat bulldog mirrors, but for practicality, relieability the old style bubble back mirrors are the best, their tough, stay put, dont shake or wobble if mounted properly........Mark
  18. Thought i had a few more like this,............Mark
  19. Theres still a tanker outfit up in NYC that still runs this type paint job (mystic transport i think) used to be pretty common, but like you said, not so much anymore,i guess with the economy the way it is,people just dont have the money to put into it anymore.....i was born and raised in jersey, used to see trucks like this everyday, but its been years since i saw one like this one!.......Mark
  20. Yeah herb, that was a pretty common paint scheme back in the day, used to be a lot more trucks with this type paint job,i guess with the economy the way it is,people just dont have the money to put in to it anymore. Its a shame too, just dont see the fancy trucks like you used to!......Mark
  21. I picked up a partial load of salvage floor tiles from a towing company in north jersey this week, seen this across the street, thought you guys might get a kick out of seeing it......pretty fancy garbage truck thats for sure! went over and talked to the guy,he said his trucks get washed everyday! 2 macks, and an autocar, saw pictures of the other two, they looked as clean and well maintained as this one!...........Mark
  22. Sounds like a page out of my book lately! oh SURE you can get in here,we have trucks here all the time! i feel your pain my friend!.....my only problem with this post is whats this about not washing/waxing your equipment? now thats just poor maintenence right there!...and you with a classic B-model FOR SHAME!.....a clean truck is a happy truck LOL!.....i know this kinda crap can be frustrating! believe me i do! i like the idea about cutting off the fire hydrants! i've backed around more of them in the past few weeks then i think i have in 30 years driving a truck!....now take care of that truck, get them scratches buffed out and all will be well!................Mark
  23. What kind of racing do you guys do? stock car, dirt track?.....good looking outfit by the way!............Mark
