  1. I'm hoping to try and make that show this year,so close to home....i have'nt been to a truck show in a good many years!......Mark
  2. Thats some nice work right there Paul!....i have recently tried to get back into truck modeling on some level, just have VERY limited time anymore...running out of room in my "truck" room as well!......Mark
  3. Thanks! i have been collecting model trucks since i was a kid, have probly 1200 or more (no kidding)...i guess its the same kind of sickness with "real" trucks LOL! just on a smaller scale...Mark
  4. I did'nt realize you could qualify for the expert marksman medal/badge if you were crosseyed!...maybe things have changed in the "new" army!.......Mark
  5. My wife and mother like to go to the local flea markets around our area, and are always on the lookout for "trucks" for my collection...here are the latest additions to the fleet!........1960's "cannonball" GMC, 1920's AC bulldog, and a smaller reproduction cast-iron bulldog.....Mark
  6. I don't know about that either, mine came with the gold dog,but it was the 100th aniversary edition,i have not seen any new ones with gold dogs...maybe i'm not looking hard enough!..........Mark
  7. No its not the lighting,as Rob stated, maxidynes of this vintage were painted gold from the factory, the gold colored bulldog signifies a mack engine, generally an "all mack" truck ie: trans.,rears etc......chrome bulldogs around these years signify a vendor engine,ie: cat, cummins, detroit etc..........Mark
  8. Thats a good looking truck! i see a lot of potential there, sounds good too,if you watch the video..looks like they did a halfway good job painting it as well.Could be real sharp in the right hands......Mark
  9. As i'm sure you're aware pump/injector work is highly technical/precise to say the least,me personally, i would'nt go on "the cheap" for this type repair, best left to someone who knows what they're doing. The guy i still use for such work up in new jersey,is a german immigrant, factory trained at the scania/vabis diesel institute, was an apprentice for ten years before they turned him loose on the world! this guys shop/workplace looks like an operating room! and he rebuilds everything using new parts,if something he needs is not available,he makes it himself!.....my opinion is a total rebuild, but its not my money...anyway,thats my two cents1....Mark
  10. Anybody ever see any pictures of an aussie spec. H-model? all the books, pictures ive seen you see plenty of B's R's and F's but never any H-models...just curious maybe some of our friends down under can shed some light on the subject?....i know they were both exported and built there, just wondered why you never see one...........Mark
  11. I like fourth row down, left hand side he's smiling! looks damn happy to be getting locked up!............Mark
  12. AH-HA! i just got it! my wife says i aint the brightest bulb on the christmas tree sometimes! LOL!......well,in my opinion, they wear that shirt, they got it coming!.............Mark
  13. Hey ernie,do you remember a few years back some guys did try to keep brockway parts going,it was some old brockway factory guys that got together, put all their money up to try and make it work, seems to me they were out around lancaster,PA just was'nt any market for it at the time. I called them,(this was late 80's i think) and they had an entire warehouse full of NOS parts! big seller was hoods and fenders.....some guys have tried a couple times to get diamond reo back in the game, they were never successful either.....i seem to remember somebody up your way was trying to do something with reproduction autocar parts, never heard any thing much else about it,thats a shame too, there was so many autocars in north jersey at one time it was unreal!........Mark
  14. Now thats funny right there! i figuered you was'nt right, but never thought you'd subject yourself to be a guinea pig for a shot in the ass test! LMAO! sounds like somthing i pulled on my brother when we were kids........we had an old push-mower without a "kill switch" on it, when it was my turn to cut the grass i'd just run it out of gas,or stall it out......keep in mind this was an OLD mower, did not have the rubber boot over the sparkplug, just the metal snap, that held the wire to the plug, so little brother asks "how do i turn it off"?...my answer, "just reach down and pull the wire off the plug"!!!!! (running of course) so he does, gets knocked on his ass!!! lesson learned the hard way! still has'nt forgiven me for that one, probly been 35 years ago at this point!.......Mark
  15. Thats about what i do,always make WAY more than what i need (freezer) my wife never liked chili till she had mine! now she dont even seem to mind the mess all that much! havent made any yet this year, but the weather will be getting cool soon,so its about time i get on it i guess!.....Mark
  16. Musta'been something inherrently good with the nineties olds platforms,my mom had a 1990 olds 88 (confusing,i know!) with the flagship 3800 V-6,this was an outstanding automobile! never had problem one with this car,(alternators notwithstanding, replaced 3) drove it up until 2 years ago with 402,000 miles, before it finally gave up the ghost! best car we ever owned in my opinion, it was replaced with a 1991 chevy lumina, with under 50,000 miles, runs good, old lady special! so far so good!.......Mark
  17. I dont know about "texas" chili, but mine has kidney beans and ground meat in it,only way to go as far as i'm concerned! red, green peppers, onions, tomatoes (fresh and stewed) secret spices, little butter, can of beer, little pinch of sugar (to cut the acid,so says my mama!)...let it go pretty much all day, always seems better the 2nd day anyway.........Mark
  18. Nope, you ain't crazy! we dealt with horner mack down in my area of south jersey for 50 years,i remember you could still buy a complete new cab on a pallet,B,R,F etc. frame rails, fuel tanks, hoods in stock! there attic was a treasure chest in todays market! boxes and boxes of B-model parts trim, chrome, interior parts etc.i think the same way! nowadays unless you want a hat or a mudflap, everything has to be ordered, and half the time when it does come in,its the wrong part,or its mangled beyond recognition! and when i tell you (partsguy) what i want, you should'nt need my VIN# to find a set of floormats or something similar! it aggravates me to no end the way things are done now! the bergey group took over horner right before i moved to VA,i stopped dealing with them alltogether,if you was'nt a waste management truck,or BFI trashtruck, they did'nt have time for you! they told me once it would be 2/3 weeks before they could get me in for a PM for crissakes!...enough is enough!...so if you check in,i'll probly be in the room nextdoor!.........Mark
  19. Yeah man,im ready for some cooler weather! sweated my ass off this summer! guess getting older does'nt help, but i never really could take the hot weather. This deal should keep me busy through the winter and then some......maybe turn out to be a permanent type deal if things work out,i have right around 60 truckloads on paper right now,so i got my fingers crossed it will work out! customers seem happy so far, i told them they could'nt do any better than me! just don't want to prove myself wrong!...i'm right there with you on the chili, like i told otherdog, gimme' a big bowl (extra spicy) handful of cheese/onions, i'm good to go!...Mark
  20. I hear ya! i'm ready for chili weather myself! nice big bowl (extra spicy) handful of cheese/onions my my!...dont forget the cornbread sticks!.......Mark
  21. So far so good! this coming week will be my forth load outbound, lotta' work, lotta' stops, but its light, 18,000 lbs average...but,its paying damn good money, and in this economy i'm just tickled to have more work than i can do!......owner wants to put on more trucks, but it seems all the "newbies" he's interviewed so far, are afraid to work for a living! scared to death of LTL freight!...so that leaves me! LOL!............Mark
  22. I have to agree! tough getting around up there!i don't mind going to manassas or the surrounding areas, but i was right in the thick of things! falls church,herndon,arlington,springfield,alexandria......not at all "truck friendly" locations!.....should'nt be too bad outbound this coming week, i start in vinton,VA then covington,VA mercer,PA dubois,PA X2,reno,PA,clearfield,PA,oil city,PA, erie,PA X2....should be empty sometime wed.if all goes right! 1200/1500 pcs.per trailerload!...still its nice, average load is under 18,000 lbs.......glad to see i havent missed much! just still like to be in the "loop" LOL!...Mark
  23. I always liked the 361 series brockways, dam good truck in my opinion! i like the sound of a V-12 detroit, but thats about it,never really saw what all the fuss was about, notoriously problematic, oil leakers!..........Mark
  24. I saw one of these when i was a kid, did'nt think much of it at the time, the guy ran it out of new jersey, not far from where i used to live, pulled an old 35' BROWN reefer with it,seems to me my dad said he ran florida to phila.PA once a week . He also had a B-61 integral sleeper sitting behind his house, long gone now,the last time i was by there, there was a new shopping center where the trucks were parked........Mark
  25. I started on a new account for my company this week, store fixtures, kiosks, etc. havent been on in a while, been busy as a one legged man in an ass kickin' contest! just wondered if anything has happened i should know about in my absense LOL!......just got home about an hour ago, spent the day in the northern,VA- DC metro area today what a treat!......Mark
