  1. I figuered you'd get a kick out of that one!........if i could get a job as a "bear" partner up with something like that,i'd seriously consider giving up truckdriving!................Mark
  2. Werner makes an "in-store" delivery!.........Mark
  3. California has hired some new motorcycle officers with the express pupose of "busting" speeders!......lock me up PLEASE! my truck will do 100 mph!........Mark
  4. LMAO!.......maybe its the points or condenser causing the problem?................Mark
  5. I talked to the guys that had that raggedy-ass FLD freightliner done on the show a few years back (the one the painted like a fighter plane) they told me its a long drawn out process, you have to sign a release, you have NO input as to how the truck will look! thats up to the person who submitted it. I agree,i would'nt hand over my keys! especially with some of the crap they turn out!.....................Mark
  6. Man,i see something like this just about everyday!pure frikkin' stipidity! i've always wondered about the cost of all these daily "accidents" too, i know of one great big carrier (swift) that has a "junkyard" just south of phoenix,AZ there must be (no kidding) 5 or 600 wrecked trucks and trailers in there! trailers with the roofs peeled back, broke in half,burnt-up,turned over you name it! i read a statistic from the safety director of JB HUNT a few years back, that said with a carrier the size of JB HUNT something like 3 to 400 reportable accidents is an "acceptable' number holy shit! 3/500 accidents A DAY is acceptable? not in my mind it aint! but then again,i'm just one guy with one truck, what the hell do i know!..................Mark
  7. Now thats a good lookin'truck! reminds me of the one i had some years back................Mark
  8. Yeah,i got damn lucky1 if it was'nt for my wife,i probly would'nt have gone to the hospital. never actually saw the thing, but according to the DR.i never would have felt the bite! thats what makes people wait so long to get looked at,unless you see what happens it looks/feels like any other "bugbite"until a couple hours later! then it goes to hell quick!.........Mark
  9. Thought this was a pretty good picture! no explanation needed!...........Mark
  10. Seems to be doing OK! my wifes a nurse,so she takes pretty good care of me,still pretty sore, but not near as bad as it was.....guess i'll live!.....Mark
  11. Thats what i was thinking, not all that many MACKS available in kit form anymore, the ones that are out there are EXPENSIVE!.....I know all about the NYC trash trucks, many is the time i've almost run over them doing 35mph on the turnpike! heading down to the trash to steam plant in the meadowlands! LOL!......Mark
  12. Well thats a good deal then! if mack can run the VIN,they should be able to tell you all the upgrades the engine has recieved,i would'nt offer a qualified opinion on disabling the EGR system, don't know all that much about the subject. but with all the computer software thats available nowadays, theres not much at all they can't tell you about the engine history!....Mark
  13. I still see one ocaisionally with USPS,they had a TON of them at one time, most of the ones i see are twin screws (tandems) kind of a rarity, always wondered if they were true tandems,or lift axles, never been close enough to one to have a look at it.........Mark
  14. Heres a couple LF's to get you started in the right direction!............Mark
  15. Just make sure you get the printout (upgrades, recall items, warranty work etc.) that accompanies the engine, will save you alot of greif in the long run!....Mark
  16. That is a pretty neat site! be really good for guys that make scale model trucks,i looked at the MACK section, just wondered why they have so many variants of the MR-model posted, pretty obscure truck anymore....Mark
  17. Dammit boy! thats good news! thats a neat truck,i like it! lot of potential right there!....congrats!......Mark
  18. Whatcha' do hit the lottery?......or you gettin that mack?
  19. Hello! if you like macks, you've come to the right place! good bunch of guys on here......WELCOME!........mark
  20. Mine is an 01' with 875,688 miles on it,and has been nothing but dependable given the already noted exceptions. The only real nagging problem i ever had with mine has been the coolant tank, but since i upgaded to the metal tank,(knock on wood) i have not had anymore problems with it. The 00' to 04's were also plagued with cam problems, mine was done under warranty fortunately. i too would question why a low mileage truck was "let go" does'nt make sense in this economy,of course despite what any dealer tells you, there is really no good way to determine how well a particular truck was cared for,DO YOUR HOMEWORK! owning a used truck can be a crapshoot,or it can be a profitable venture,IE: right truck for right job!......Mark
  21. I agree with Rob on this topic,in my opinion, you would be better off in the long run concentrating on mechanical upgrades to an existing B-model rather than trying to adapt a B to a later model chassis. Unless of course you are an expert fabricator,or have a TON of disposable income! air-ride,power steering,engine/trans. swaps are all reasonally simple tasks to accomplish on a B-model given some planning and forethought IE: 237 maxidyne/ 5 spd. trans.etc. just my two cents!................Mark
  22. LMAO! i think the IH transtar is a classic truck, but i dont like the looks of this one at all! wwwwaaaayyy to much crap for my taste! did you ever see what trick my truck did to that B-model they had on the show? holy crap! they put a model train set in the sleeper! sometimes enough is enough! me personally,i always liked the "traditional" look on a truck, and i think the stock paint scheme on a transtar eagle was sharp. I do take a lot of pride in the appearance of my truck, and mine is no show truck by any means, but at least mine is not "goobered up" with all this aftermarket crap!.....Mark
  23. A long time ago in a galaxy far,far away!..........truth be told,i've driven just about every make of truck at one time or another, my dad was a "peterbilt man" god rest his soul!.............Mark
  24. Its never good when they have pictures! my wife has a picture of me (at a moment of weakness) standing in front of a KW!..............Mark
  25. Dam! that second picture looks a lot like my next-door neighbors back yard!......more than a few times i thought these guys were living there!...............Mark
