Yep,that was my point,a little extra time on the diagnosis goes a long way! i wish they would listen a little closer when you come in with a problem as well, i was at the mack dealer in albuquerque,NM last year with a leaking rear wheelseal,( straightfoward problem as far as i'm concerned) ended up with a $1200.00 bill for the replacement of the coolant tank (again!) new throttle position sensor,numerous other sundry B.S., all without a consult first! one of the worst shops i have encountered! made a mess out of my truck,grease,cigarette ashes all over the place,grease,filth all over the fairings! of course i had a fit! I am normally not a hard person to get along with,but i take a great deal of pride/time in the effort to keep my tractor up, and don't think it's asking too much for a little consideration/professionalism when having repairs done! some shops still treat you very well,others not so much! but the "good" ones are getting fewer and farther between!........Mark

Yeah buddy! know what you mean! my brother-inlaw was over there too,he said the same thing! he was more worried about those giant spiders then the iraquis! he said the boys in his unit were using them for target practice/sighting in rifles! but i'm glad i got looked at as quick as i did,my wife said it could have been a lot worse,left un-treated, never had anything like this happen before! like i told otherdog,guess i'm gonna hafta' start packing my pistol when i'm working in the trailer from now on!! I'm just glad/fortunate i was just getting home when this happened,if i had been on the road i probably would'nt have been so quick to go to the hosp. it's just amazing to me how fast it went from bad to worse! maybe 2 hrs? i felt fine,then got fever,chills,like when you get the flu,spot around where the bite was turned black! kinda' scared me! guess i'm gonna hafta' start packing a pistol when i'm un-loading from now on! LOL!.......Mark

Thats what they told me as well,i'm in a trailer load of furniture just about everyday! doctor said the area where i was bitten may never heal completely,may even require a skin graft at some point! not much fun thats for sure!........Mark

Well,got to take a trip to the emergency room today,went to bed last night with what i thought was a "bug bite" on my leg,woke up this morning,leg pretty much on fire,hurt like hell,had turned bright red and black from the knee down! my good wife (who's a nurse) said your going to the hospital! right now! get there, get checked in,see the doctor, seems i was bitten by a brown recluse spider! IV antibiotics,pills/medicine for the next few weeks,plus a tetanus shot! moral of this story is just be careful! these things are dangerous! can cost you and arm or leg if not treated in a timely manner, not to mention will make you sick as shit! i'm telling you that from firsthand information!............Mark

This is a good subject! i know there have been many advances in technology regarding cars and trucks over the last century,but i long for the days when people who worked on cars and trucks for a living were mechanics,not "technicians" and would actually try and diagnose a mechanical problem before starting to throw parts and money at it! my maternal grandfather was one of these guys,he could barely read or write,but could machine,repair,weld,build,re-build damn near ANYTHING that was put in front of him! if a job or part was not to his liking,he would re-build or re-do the part to his satisfaction,before making out his "bill" he repaired a cracked block on an old 8-N ford tractor we had on the farm 46 years ago,and i know for a fact its still running,and still used almost daily! just kinda' bothers me that no one seems to take this kind of pride in their work anymore,seems to be a "let somebody else worry about it now" not my job type world............Mark

Weld built body company (wyandanch L.I.N.Y) has built a lot of these for the PATH (post authority NJ/NY) made compact so they can be operated in really confined spaces tunnels,bridges,one way streets etc. the ones weld built makes are called "tunnel sentrys' and can be ordered with many options,standard equipment consists of a 98" wheelbase, 40,000lb retractable boom,80,000lb tow rating. in the 70's 3 of the first ones built went to the baltimore harbor tunnel authority,at a cost of $133,000 each!
