    Damn

Well you guys know who is supposed to own the pot of gold right? should have went for it, seems he was busy looking for gold coins elsewhere at the time!..................Mark
  2. Me personally, i like the "spiders" red with the rims either white or gray......but thats maybe just me, i like the traditional look especially on a mack......Mark
  3. Man this brings back some memories! we had a truck very similar to this one on our farm when i was a kid, just about the only difference i see is the trans. ours was a 4 speed, with an electric 2 speed rear, used to go through points pretty freqeuntly as i remember, they were a bitch to set/change......one thing i like about these old trucks is the distinctive whining sound the trans./rear makes when your driving it anyone who has driven something this old will know what i'm talking about! looks to be a good solid truck from what i can see, as otherdog said, anything this old out our way is probably suffering from a terminal case of "tinworm" allthough ther are still quite a few 1-1-1/2-2 ton trucks in various stages of disrepair around here!.........Mark
  4. Looks like a good start you have there! gotta love rust free nevada!..............Mark
  5. Thats what i always heard, i never saw two exactly alike, with the exception of a small fleet in pennsylvania, they had quite a few of the later models that kinda' looked like a T-800 KW, set back steer axle, integral sleeper etc. i still see one occasionaly............Mark
  6. Nope, just your average everyday pinnacle, just has a LOT of aftermarket crap added to it,(grille surround, big sunvisor, etc.) only reason i know for sure is that i have looked at it in person, i go by here about 20 times a week lately!...................Mark
  7. Found a neat old picture of some guys "back in the day" as they say thesedays, kinda neat to see truckdrivers potrayed as professional people!...Mark
  8. I don't know all that much about marmons, but i always wondered if they had anything to do with marmon/herrington that did 4X4 conversions on vendor supplied vehicles, mainly fords as i recall.............Mark
  9. Hey tom, was the motorhome you saw a cabover?? i went to MarmonTrucks.com and clicked on "projects" the first thing that came up was pictures/story about building a motorhome, neat thing is that they built the motorhome part out of an old/wrecked 28FT. freight box!....kinda neat, check it out if you get a chance............Mark
  10. Oh believe me that was the FIRST thing a changed when they became available! up till that point, when i got the steel tank i was on number 8 plastic tank! just thought i'd mention it if the truck he's looking at haddent been up graded ya' know????....Mark
  11. I mirror rhaslers response, i own and operate a 2001 CX-613,look real hard at the camshaft history! the only other on-going problem i have ever had with mine is with leaking coolant tanks, and air compressor regulators other tahn that mine has been nearly problem free, i'm right at 875,000 myself, and i really have no big complaints with mine............Mark
  12. Ernie, i sure hope that day never comes! i think volvo should take a long hard look at things before they do something like that! the mack name is almost iconic in this counrty, part of the culture, nobody seems to mind anymore when a foreign country takes over a U.S. based company, but i often wondered what kind of a shitstorm would happen if (lets say the japanses) took over ownership of harley-davidson? they have the same type following mack has......autocar was one of the oldest truck makers out there, with a damn good reputation, just like brockway, and you know as well as i do, at one time every other truck you saw in jersey was a white!..............Mark
  13. Thats a good one! LMAO!.............Mark
  14. According to the ships history, the treaty to end WWII was supposed to be signed on the new jersey,as it was the admiraltys flagship in the pacific at the time,it was changed to the missouri, because thats where harry s. truman was from. could be right on the guns displacement, my memorys not what it used to be!.....Mark
  15. I always liked the looks of the conventional marmon, from what i have heard they were damn good trucks, very well built............Mark
  16. My brother and i got to tour the battleship NEW JERSEY when they brought it home a few years ago, this thing is enormous! philadelphia was not laughing at NJ so much anymore with those 18 inch guns pointed at them! this was one of the most decorated warships of all time, served in WWII,korea, vietnam, the gulf etc. never a single life was lost in combat on this ship, ONE of the good things to come out of jersey!!LOL!.........Mark
  17. Thanks! could'nt for the life of me remember which one it was, i do recall it was nicknamed "the gray ghost"..............Mark
  18. That would be my best guess as well,i did'nt notice it until the close-up picture, then saw something was not quite right, almost looks like it could be the grille surround from an F-model,adapted to the hood, appears to be slightly too big on the R-hood still a nice looking truck though......Mark
  19. I have that same t-shirt, my wife says shes gonna bury me in it LOL!....they have one just like that with an R-model on it, i dont have that one (yet).....Mark
  20. I found a video on youtube that you can check out....look up "how to shift a 16 speed spicer" its very similar to a 14 speed, it is an australian guy, but you will get the idea how it works, little more complicated than a roadranger, but once you get the hang of it i really liked driving it, last 3 splits are on the high side of the trans.like a 13 speed, you just don't have to move the gearshift, just the split button.........Mark

  22. Looks like a pretty good turn out of trucks, wish i coulda made it, but needed to finish out delivering this week or it woulda screwed me up loading next week. just looked at the pictures, i really liked that red RL-700 and the VC H-model, that black B-model with the sleeper is real nice looking too!....Mark
  23. Did ya see any trucks there at all????? LMAO! wish i ooulda went, but i finished up my loacl drops today, did'nt get home till 8pm tonight, but i'm off sunday and monday, so its not too bad.............Mark
  24. Yeah, this was a real nice truck! had the nicest interior i've seen in a truck,. the diamond pleat V.I.T in blue. I only made one trip in it, coulda' been a regular job, but it did'nt pay shit! and a fancy truck does'nt put food on the table! LOL! i really liked the 14 speed trans. too, was nice to drive after i got the hang of it, never seen or driven another one since, it was WAY too much motor for me at the time too!.......Mark
  25. Yup thats what i meant, MT 16 is a TERRIBLE road!.........guess you made out ok then??????................Mark
