  2. YEP,i agree ya'makes 2 of us! i still have the 1970 chevy pickup i had in high school, changed it over to electronic ignition, still have the carb. though i dont't really mind "tinkering" with that! not a whole lot of people left that can take a carb. apart put it back together without some "left over" pieces! LMAO....Mark
  3. Oh don't get me wrong, that is a good looking B-model! i just prefer the "stock" look on a B......like this one..........Mark
  4. I still have all of mine as well, timing light, point setting/installing tools, looked through some of my tools this weekend, i still have a set of tools for removing manual window crank handles from GM vehicles! and a "pickle fork" for ball joints! i still have a corded electric drill made/sold by W.T.GRANT inc. (an eastcoast dept.store) that went out of business at least 40 years ago! still works great! sad thing is, most people (with the exception of us graybeards on here) even know what points, vacuum advance timing, etc.are all about?.........Mark
  5. I don't know about the earthquake situation, but i have a friend who works for a driveaway company that delivers new trucks to customers, he took one of the 3 trucks down to new orleans that MACK donated to the city after hurricane katrina, (2 granite dump trucks and a roll-off) before he got on the plane to come home, his cell rang, had to go back and check on the truck he had just delivered.........seems the "victims" had burned the roll-off cab and chassis to the ground! so much for being thankful! he said it was still smoking when he got back!................Mark
  6. This is the best looking truck that I have seen! i really like the looks of this truck!..........Mark
  7. Nope no BS! it was minus 40 degees! was on the radio weather, only reason i remember this trip so well is that it was thanksgiving day 2007 and my wife was pretty upset that i was not home! coldest i've ever seen it, the LCD screen in the camera froze- up, clouded over effin' cold thats for damn sure! warmed up to a balmy -14 in duluth, had famous daves ribs for my turkeyday dinner. Even at that temp. they were telling people not to go outside, cause it's cold enough to freeze the "juice" in your eyeballs! LOL!..........Mark
  8. Obama wants change?......................Mark
  9. There are only a few i use where i know the guys are going to do a good job, i was all polished up once, they put goddamn acid all over everything! i was PISSED sent them a bill for getting it re-done they were not happy! but paid for it anyway! mackpro should be able to get you one (bugscreen) they make one with the emblem on it one without, seems to me it was around $75-80 dollars, if i remember correctly, i bought it at the mack dealer in st.louis, i bought the winterfront at redhead power and equipt. in winnipeg,CANADA needed it! i was headed to duluth,MN and it was 30 degrees below zero! when i took this pic. the display in the truck said the outside temp. was -42!.....Mark
  10. Hey ernie, is he the guy that has all those restored dodges down there? seen videos on youtube with some nice dodge conventionals, thought it might be the same guy..........Mark
  11. Oh man was he pissed? LOL! i think they're leaving TONIGHT at midnight..........................Mark
  12. Been mighty hot down here in virginia the past few days, but it's really starting to get bad!............Mark
  13. I looked at them a little closer myself, and i too believe these are fiats( 128 2 door sedans) these came with 1100 cc. SOHC engines, most came with manual trans. kind of the italian "econobox" of their time!...thanks for setting me straight on the dodge truck too, never saw one like that! i remember the standard dodge conventionals, M&G convoy etc. used to see quite a few of them in wilmington,DE and up at port newark,NJ.......Mark
  14. Might need some "heavy duty" ordinance for that job! might i suggest the 155 MM "long tom" field gun, towed by an NO series-mack?
  15. Hey bigen, i don't know if a CH is the same style grille mounting, but my CX does'nt use any fasteners for the bugscreen/ winterfront it uses tabs that fit into slots on the grille, i bought both of mine through mack, and am very happy with them! bugscreen sure keeps a lot of shit off the radiator, and its easy to take off/ put on...i usually take it off when i run it through the steakin beacon, or they end up blasting it off!.......Mark
  16. Hers a restored one, pretty sharp!...Mark
  17. Never thought of that! LOL! this would make a great illegal alien relocation device!............Mark
  18. I really like the iowa 80, just never seem to have ANYTHING in the chrome shop for macks, now if you got a pete or KW you're in good shape! so i guess you got out of ND ok? i hate getting empty out that way, seems all the paying eastbound freight is either in portland or seattle for some reason!...........Mark
  19. I've always has real good luck with elizabeth truck center (NJ) these guys have most anything you might want, take the time to make sure you get what you need, 95% of the aftermarket stuff on my truck came from them. real nice selection/ showroom too! there close to you as well!.......Mark elizabethtruckcenter.com/chromeshop
  20. I have seen the B-model in just about every configuration possible (i thought) but here is a new one on me! seems this one is used to transport/ fire a "human cannonball" at the circus and state fair type events...........Mark
  21. Allways thought the cannonball sleeper was kind of a neat looking truck................Mark
  22. Sounds like a case the "X" files should have looked into!........Mark
  23. Damn! i wish i had known! i had 3 stops yesterday, started in roanoke rapids, then rocky mount, durham on the way back, trying to get all my short loads done ASAP these little mom and pop furniture stores are killing me! still have'nt forgotten about those trailers, just honestly have'nt had the time to get out and look at them yet! so whats the deal with this R-model? where is it at? may get back that way later this week, not sure yet................Mark
  24. SMFP syndrome? sounds about right to me!......this happened to me,so wheres my TV commercial, jerry's kids type backing? LMAO?............Mark
  25. My dad would agree with Rob on this, he ran an emeryville (DC-405) for a good number of years and he spoke of this sound often, he ran sleeper team out of NJ, a round trip to FL every week for ARMELLINI express, air freight south, then a return load of fresh cut flowers out of pompano beach with multiple stops up the eastern seaboard. pop said when you "got er' wound up" the exaust manifold would glow cherry red! he said the extra "heat" was nice in the winter! did'nt do them a lot of good in the summer though! he LOVED the emeryville (DC- series IH's)he said with the cummins, was about one of the best trucks he ever drove ! the split manifold Rob mentioned was responsible for that distinctive sound known to most all old-time drivers..................Mark
