  1. I see a lot of people these days wearing T- shirts that say "Keep Calm And (fill in the blank)" but Mrs.Vision saw one on Facebook she thought I would like,so thought I would post it..............................Mark
  2. Lol! it is hard work! and you earn every damn dime of it too! but,HHG's is still the highest paying revenue freight you can put on a truck. I did it for about 9 years, then transferred over to Special Products, high value, electronics division I made damn good money at it it too. but just like everything else, all the "perks" and extra money went away. When I started, the policy at Atlas was you had to have at least 5-6 years HHG experience before they would even consider transferring you to Special Products, now you can walk in off the street and as long as you have a tractor Atlas will sign you on pretty much right on the spot! you do get some "training" but not like the old days. All in all I was leased to Atlas for 22 years, and up until till the end, never had one serious complaint with them........................Mark
  3. Hey Chuck,is Freehold Cartage still around? been quite a while since I've seen any of their trucks around, just curious....................................Mark
  4. Joe,you are right, most all HHG's carrirers have a very strict policy on tractor appearance/colors, though i have seen a few exceptions over the years for limited edition, special,or anniversary trucks. Atlas gives you six weeks to get tractor painted WHITE! and has guidelines for any stripes, company decals etc. I almost lost my contract with Atlas when I got my new MH,it was ordered white with blue stripes outlined in gold, but when it came in,it was blue with white stripes! It took some real fancy footwork to retain my lease! Salesman at Horner Mack reversed the colors on my order sheet by mistake, but Mack knocked $5000.00 off the top which is what it would have cost them to repaint it!.......................................Mark
  5. That's what I was thinking Joe,probly started out as a truck and trailer like this one.................................................Mark
  6. I always liked the grille guards on the early Brockways, looks like a pretty solid truck!................................................Mark
  7. If it's in Kennett Square, probly been used to haul "Mushroom Soil" at some point, never ever get the stink out of it! Lol!........................................................Mark
  8. Apple farming has sure come a long way! I grew up on a apple/peach farm in Jersey (yes really) and about all we could do when there was danger of frost or a cold snap early in the season was to use smudgepots. I only remember using them once or twice, but they sure saved our bacon! I know Washington state is apple country, but curious to know what varieties you grow out there? Had my first Rainier cherries out your way, been hooked on em' ever since! good luck, hope all goes well!.................................Mark
  9. I surely agree with the Motorhome/Camper endorsement on the CDL,just a week or two ago,i had a HUGE motorhome pass me doing at least 75 MPH,pulling a Jeep, with a Jet-Ski trailer hooked to it! The jeep was following straight, but the Jet-Ski trailer was weaving in and out of two lanes,Mom and Pop up front seemed oblivious to that fact! That thing hadda came un-hooked,somebody would have went to the hospital. Same thing with rental trucks, the way they (the rental companies) get around that is Air over hydraulic brakes, and keeping the trucks GVW under CDL weight. You see some damn scary things out here for sure! I once saw a VW bus pulling a FULL SIZE SCHOOLBUS loaded with house-hold goods (really,no "big-rigger" BS) westbound out of Denver on I-70! didn't hang around long enough to see the outcome of that cluster! I wanted to put as many miles between them and me before the shit hit the fan!..........................................Mark
  10. I thought the same thing when I saw all those EXPLOSIVE placards! change of underwear for the driver I'm sure was in order!.....................................Mark
  11. Was'nt quite sure WHERE to post this one! Sterling,Mack giving an Autocar a hand!...................................Mark
  12. Thanks for the info Bob,our prayers and thoughts go out to that drivers family,i was concerned knowing we have members on here such as yourself that drive for Fed-X. Prolly never get the real true story about what happened, just pisses me off that the damn news media ALWAYS puts the truck at fault BEFORE learning the facts! I have a real big problem with the way truck accidents are reported in the news media, people seem to forget, someones HUSBAND, SON ,BROTHER, WIFE or SISTER was in that truck! Never seem to make any headlines that a car was at fault, which the ATA reports is the cause in 88% of heavy truck accidents where a car/ truck is involved. No-one seems to realize there is a PERSON in the cab of that truck,WORKING trying to make a living for themselves and families. Trucking is one of the most dangerous jobs there is,we as drivers put our lives on the line EVERYDAY so Americas citizens can have what they need,it's a thankless,stressfull,un-healthy profession at best. Seems to be getting worse everyday. As Tom stated earlier,i see something or someone doing something idiotic on the road EVERYDAY without exception! but the guvmint knows best, how hard I should run, when I should sleep, how many hours I should work (hint: IT AINT'T WORKIN'!!!!)..................thanks again for setting the record straight Bob,truck safe my friend!................................Mark
  13. Only one I was able to hang onto is a GREENSTEIN door sign from the 60's? my Dad had,its in my toyroom but starting to get dry-rotted. I managed to get a couple A-P-A logos before they went under too. I know where there is an old McLean trucking trailer nearby that still has the "double diamond" logos on it would be neat in a garage or toyroom!...............................Mark
  14. I remembered there was also a DM garbage truck in an episode of the Sopranos........."Satisfaction guaranteed,or double your garbage back"................Mark
  15. I like the color scheme on those trucks! a sharp fleet!.................................................Mark
  16. I've seen that Cruiseliner on 81 and 88 a couple times in NY,did'nt realize it was out of Jersey,i don't know the outfit.............................................Mark
  17. That truly is a shame! never been a big Mopar fan,but know what's there! I knew of a 69' 442 in Jersey with a similar story,"Nope, not for sale, someday it will be worth 50K" last I saw it,(2010?) there wasn't much left worth the effort to restore.........................Mark
  18. "Mattress could talk"? are you "in-sin-neratin" truck drivers could be up to no good?.......................................Mark
  19. Welcome aboard! Man,those trucks are CLEAN!.................................Mark
  20. Just some inspiration!......................................Mark
  21. Exporter driving it home maybe?...........................................Mark
  22. DAY-UMM! a sleeper? better try and save that one if you can my friend! not many around anymore. I knew of one in Jersey some years back,i put in the word to buy it,never heard back from the owner, found out a few years later the owners children sold it for scrap after he passed away in the name of "cleaning up the property" and this was (at the time) a solid RUNNING factory sleeper.......you know what they say about hindsight right? Lol!..................Mark
  23. Damn nice to hear about somebody HIRING people, not laying them off, closing up shop,or moving jobs to china or mexico!.....................................................Mark
  24. Atta" boy Matt! I doubt most of todays "supertruckers" could even get the B-Model started,much-less DRIVE one! Lol!..............................................Mark
  25. Nice to see another classic Mack saved! great story too Mike! ol' girl looks like a keeper to me!..................................................Mark
