  1. Thanks Ernie! lot of memories myself! my Dad ran dry freight out of Jersey or Philly south, then produce or fresh flowers back out of Florida for both Greenstein and Armellini Express he used to go to the stock car races with Jerome "Toots" Armellini when they was young. He did a lot of the multiple stop LTL routes coming north,as they mostly paid better then truckload. He did get burnt by a few shyster brokers, which is what made him change over to household goods in the seventies. He told me back in the day he hauled a many a load on a handshake! And most guys were as good as their word about paying the bill.I guess them days are long gone now!.................................................Mark
  2. Joe,i never heard a bad word about Shendel Greenstein (former owners daughter),my Dad did a lot of trip-lease work for them in the sixties, and had a good many friends leased on with them. that's also the first C-Model I ever saw with a sleeper.............................Mark

  21. To tell the truth,i haven't followed NASCAR in a good many years,i got tired of hearing about the "young guns" all the rule changes, the drama with the newer drivers etc. I was a big fan of Davey Allison, then Mark Martin. I still enjoy real dirt-track racing,i spent many a summer at Bridgeport,NJ Pleasantville,Nj Wall Stadium,NJ East Windsor,NJ Middletown,NY with my cousin who is now 76 years old,and STILL racing a 358 modified! Got a good friend in Jersey Matt Harrell who I used to drive for his Dad's trucking company, that is doing pretty well at Bridgeport too! Alltime favorite dirt-track guy had to be Stan Ploski from Ringoes,NJ drove my favorite car the #74 "Bulldog Expess" sponsored by Trenton Mack (note the half dogs on the quarter panel) ........................................Mark
  22. Nice Al! I spent many childhood summers riding with my Dad,and once we layed over in Boulder,CO (he did a lot of work for the local NAVL agent Cities Storage) I don't recall seeing many C.O.E's pulling Coors trailers, but I remember seeing a lot of conventional White-Freightliner daycabs with REALLY long wheelbases! the early ones with the "Peterbilt-like" headlight mounts. Some of the first truly western spec. trucks I ever saw in person,it was odd to me,because they were still pulling mostly 40' and 45' Hobbs reefers, some were still even "bellymounts"! we even went as far as taking the tour of the brewery, when done,Dad got a sample of "the good stuff" I was treated to a sample of "Rocky Mountain Spring Water"! early seventies I'm guessing,as Coors was still not for sale east of the Mississippi river..............................Mark
  23. Do any of you guys remember a restored metallic brown B-Model integral sleeper that was at Englishtown occasionally? I think it was from NYC maybe L.I. it had a mural of itself painted on the back of the sleeper? I only saw it once or twice and never again,i always regretted I never got a picture of it.................................Mark
  24. Jim,you know it's funny,we've been down here almost 8 years, and have never been to a race! When we still lived in Jersey we would usually go to Dover,Pocono, sometimes Richmond, but never been to one here, and the track is literally 5 miles from my front door!.........................Mark
  25. If I am home,i usually try to take Vision jr. to the track to watch the trucks come in (no Macks un-fortunately) but this year i.m guessing there are going to be a lot of pissed off race fans here! As of about 8:00 it's been snowing like a bandit here! and it's cold ,windy. The truck race got moved/postponed up to today,so it's supposed to be a rare "double-header" race today, both trucks and the cup cars.........................................Mark
