While we're talking marker lights,a brand-x truck(peterbilt) backed in next to me this morning, one of those goobered up shitwagons with the giant visor covering 3/4 of the windshield.I went in to get my paperwork, and noticed it had NO marker lights on the roof whatsoever! Am I missing something? I thought maker lights were still D.O.T required? they weren't built into the visor either as I have seen some like that. I asked the driver (typical newbie dipshit) about it,his answer was "F**K the D.O.T,it's my truck,i'll do whatever I want to it".........................................Mark

  11. Jake, nice picture thanks for posting! I'm always interested in seeing anything Jersey as I was born and raised there! JoeD gets the cigar for guessing the location, the Jersey Truck Center was the original name and location of what later became the Jersey City Truckstop AKA Rubes, routes 1&9 Jersey City,NJ.....................................Mark
  12. Another place that was popular with truckdrivers was the Olympia Diner on U.S.Route 40 in Penns Grove,NJ (long gone) originally,Ken (Farmer52) posted this picture of the postcard, along with some other nostalgic pictures and I explained this diner was literally 5 miles from my house, and we ate there pretty often. I did some research and found out the whole diner lock, stock and barrel has been moved to Baltimore,MD and is enjoying a new crowd of people in an original "Jersey Diner"..............................Mark

  15. Funny you guys should mention HOJO's ! I found a picture of the last surviving Howard Johnsons Snack Bar (closed now) near exit 2 on the NJTPK,they had the BEST Hotdogs! As a kid, whenever we travelled the Turnpike,we always ate at HOJO's a real treat back then!. I can still remember the "tender sweet" fried clam strips! and 28 flavors of ice cream, one of my oldest surviving toy trucks came from HOJO's at the south end of the Turnpike (Carney's Point,NJ),my Mom seems to remember It cost about $1.49!.........................................Mark
  16. When I worked for A-P-A they had a brand new groomed MB cab in the Aramingo ave. (Philly) shop,i don't know what happened to it. MB's were damn good trucks, kinda understated in my opinion. As BULLHUSK said there was THOUSANDS of them all over NJ/NY/Philly makes you wonder where they all went,i mean you don't even see one in a salvage yard anymore!.......................Mark
  17. DD,of all the times I've seen your avatar,i always thought it was a G-Model Mack,just realized it's the experimental Brockway C.O.E!..............Duh!...................................Mark

  20. Coming from the diner capitol of the world (Jersey),been in my fair share throughout the country but one that was nearby to me, spent most of my time when I was younger was the Deepwater Diner,a good place to "spot trucks" and later on they employed a waitress that was truly "blessed"! Lol!.......................The old place is gone, but they built a new one around it!...........Mark
