Prolly I good thing I wasn't at Macungie that year,or that would have come home with me! I have been wanting to build a replica of this truck almost since I first saw it years ago..............I made an offer on the blue one last year, but it was not enough in the sellers eyes..............................Mark

Yardo,I happen to have a completely re-built 238,low hours, low miles, which uses no oil whatsoever, which as long as it's going in the FWD, you may have for cost of shipping. Please feel free to contact me with any Detroit related questions, comments or fan-mail..................................your friend "Doctor Detroit"................Mark

"Real" pinstriping is a dying art for sure, which is a shame, in my opinion, there are (were) some talented people in this world! I have loved this truck since I first saw it 30 plus years ago at the Overdrive big rig drags at Englishtown,NJ. If ever I hit the "Go-Zillion" dollar lottery,i would build an exact replica (sans the Clat-erpillar) of this truck!...........................................Mark

Was always pretty lucky in the travel department when young, seems both my brother and I were born with a "gasoline ass" we spent countless trips in the car with no combat! I was always content to spot trucks,my brother motorcycles I still like to ride!............................................Mark

Jim, we must have similar paths! back in my moving van days,i was delivering a job into an Old/Historic neighborhood in Cape May,NJ customers house was near the end of a cul-de-sac (sp?) anyway,i navigated just fine going in,got turned around at the end just fine (single axle GMC Astro,48ft. moving van) got the job all done and headed out later that day,not taking into consideration the "crown" in the road. Well as I was leaving on the same street I came in on,i noticed a "booiiinnngg" type sound every few seconds, never thought much of it at the time. Long story short,i had taken out every single cable tv wire on the street (most were still hanging on the frame between tractor/trailer) there were more then a few pissed off blue-hairs wating for me at the end of the street,no Judge Judy today! one of the few times trucking I was in fear of my life!....................................Mark

It sucks! my Dad was just shy of 64,he was home over the weekend, got up in the middle of the night for a snack, when he came back to bed,he told my Mom he didn't feel good. My Mom rushed him to the hospital, she said he took a deep breath on the way,and that was it.Doctors said his heart just exploded. I was in Florida on a load,my then boss flew me home, but was too late, I still remember there was a peanut butter and jelly sammich and a glass of milk still on the table when we got home.............life is short,do the best you can with the time you have! There isn't a day goes by that I don't wish I could sit down over coffee and shoot the shit with him!.................................Mark

I was gonna say some smart shit about frozen straps, you guys need to pull a van! BUT I got to my first stop of the day this morning, after running in rain, snow, sleet, snow, sleet, hail, snow etc. (you get the picture) Got to my stop, trailer doors frozen solid closed! took me about an hour with torch and rubber mallet to get the S.O.B's open!.....................................Mark

Looks about like my week! sorry to hear about your buddy, just glad to hear if he had to go,did'nt take anybody with him, still hate to hear about things like this though. That place on 220 where the CL-9000 is also has an old McLean Brigadier, and an ex Overnite "china closet" daycab F-Model stashed behind all those junk trailers, used to be able to see them before they moved a trailer across the driveway. ...................................Mark
