  1. A class act for sure! its such a shame the world is running out of people like this more everyday WORKED for what they had,and enjoyed doing it as well!........................................Mark
  2. Nice article and pictures Al ! thanks for sharing,i remember seeing the Danella Bros.Construction R-Model when I was younger. I always liked the stars and Stripes on a Mack!..............................................Mark

  4. No doubt Al ! Greenstein was one of the last carriers I remember that still had (and enforced) appearance standards for their leased trucks ie; washed, clean, display of the name across the bumper etc. My Dad always told me Shendel (Greenstein) had a soft spot for "her" drivers, always willing to lend money, help out however possible when needed, and the guys always went over and above in return! Dad did the occasional trip lease with them in his produce hauling days (late fifties-early sixties) and I remember one trip in particular,he went to Fla. with one stop, made 13-14 pickups in south Fla. loaded back for Hunts Point,NY,I believe he told me the whole round trip paid the TRUCK somewhere around $3-400.00! plus $50.00 expense money!.................................Mark
  5. Indeed! a sharp fleet,i saw many of them when I was young, with my Dad at the Vineland Produce Auction (The Block) Greenstein had a "satellite" terminal in Vineland as well as Armellini Express Lines.................................Mark
  6. I would've liked to have seen those myself Ron! I was un-aware you guys used Owner-Operators,i thought your outfit was all company trucks........................................Mark
  7. I thought this was a pretty neat picture! rare to see a G-Model,especially pulling for Greenstein! according to my Dad,many O/O's leased on there in the 50's and 60's ran Macks, but in later years they kinda lost favor and it was mostly Petes and KW's in the later years. My Dad had several life-long friends leased to Greenstein, one (Nick Gatto) who ran a really nice C.O.E Marmon....................................Mark
  8. Here's another big logger!................................Mark
  9. Lol! I have to do that a lot! send me to a place with lines painted on both sides, nothing else around, and I can't get straight to save my ass! but most times I can blindside on a 45' in one shot go figger!.................................Mark
  10. Chuck, thats an access door enabling you to check the coolant without lifting the hood on early production R-Models,not a very good idea so it went away pretty quick! I've only ever seen a handful of trucks with that feature in person pretty rare...........................Mark
  11. Everybody seems to enjoy seeing these,so here's a few more from around the interweb!...............................Mark
  12. I hear ya' Bob! I remember hearing back when Clinton was in office, someone said "Only in America can we have a draft-dodeging dope smoker in the White House, and a decorated Vet living in a box on the street"! still pisses me off when I think about it!...............Mark
  13. Yardo,i hear ya! not too long ago someone backed into my wifes car at her work (Hospital/employee parking lot) no note,of course no one owned up to it either! really pisses me off too,as I take a lot of time and effort into keeing our vehicles "nice" People just don't seem to give a flying shit about other peoples property anymore! I applaud you for teaching your guys the right thing to do!...................................Mark
  14. Tom,the only place I've seen these ride-on trucks is a the Mack-shop online.......................................Mark
  15. Don't mean this to sound harsh or bigoted, but what connection does Mandella have with the U.S.? I mean I'm sorry the guy died and all,but had nothing at all (as far as I can see) with our country?..........................................Mark
  16. A "retro" version for those with more money than sense!.............................................Mark

  21. That's a good one Denny! thanks for posting!..................................Mark
  22. Plainfield,NJ was a drivetrain/powertrain facility, shut down in October 1961 due to a labor dispute between the workers there and Mack, the powertrain factory was relocated to Hagerstown,MD in early 1962. Both Somerville,NJ and Bridgewater,NJ were both parts distribution centers...........................Mark
