  5. That's the place Tom! there WERE a dozen or so old Macks and a few other make trucks scattered around there, you could see a little better in the wintertime. The past few times I've been by there in the daylight,i don't see any of the trucks that were in the woods facing 220,thats why I was worried when I saw the new sign! It was some sort of construction company before I think?........................................Mark
  6. Vinny is quite right! I accidentally posted the "wrong" picture, they are so small when I save them they are hard to see! I deleted the "right" picture! it is two B-Models side by side, next time I pass there I will get some more pictures. I never even looked at the picture I saved from my phone to see if it was the right one,my apologies for the mistaken i.d.!...........................Mark
  7. Last time I saw this B-81 was in the early eighties at the Englishtown,NJ truck show, RFCdrum (Rob) on here knows this outfit,he may have some input on what happened to it. There was also this Autocar with the same name on the door at the show, both of these trucks were immaculate!......................................Mark
  8. I have passed a place on U.S.220 about 20 miles North of here for a few years, always wanted to stop in and look around, but there is really no place to pull over with a truck. There WERE a few old Macks visible from the road and many more in the surrounding woods,i seen these 2 over the summer and wanted to try and get some more pics, but the thought of getting shot at didn't appeal to me! Anyway, what bothers me now is the new sign on the property says "Scrapco" that doesn't sound good to me!.....................................Mark
  9. That's no good! I agree, with all the fancy stuff on trucks now there is no way it should have been pushed! One of your companies trucks passed me this morning on the way in,was a black IH Prostar, pulling an empty flatbed........................................Mark
  10. Politicians and the trucking business, now there's a match made in heaven if ever I saw one!......................................Mark

  13. As many of you guys know,i am something of a history buff, especially concerning my former home state (NJ) I found this article a few days ago about a bad train-wreck that happened in Woobridge,NJ in 1951. At the time the worst rail disaster in NJ history (82 people were killed) the train jumped a temporary trestle over construction of the (then) new New Jersey Turnpike, speeding was the final verdict as the cause of the crash. Anyway,of the few pictures I found, here is one what with looks like prolly a brand new Mack!.................Mark
  14. It took some doing, but I was able to find a picture of the "golfball" that used to be in the same place as the "Cornfield Cruiser" in Moorestown,NJ this was also a familiar sight to anyone who travelled the NJ Turnpike,or 295 from 1960 till about 1975. From what I read, this "Radome" housed a super strong radar unit used to detect ICBM's during the Cold War,the article also said this unit could detect something as small as a needle from 2000 miles away!.................................Mark
  15. I was never much of a "Sci-Fi" fan,but this guy really seemed to have a good sense of humor, especially about himself, never took himself too seriously something of a rarity with todays "stars"...............................................Mark
  16. There are a great many weird things like this around New Jersey,i remember learning in school about this thing.............It was called a "Texas Tower" because of its resemblance to an oil rig, this was a part of the early DEW system as well. It was about 58 miles off shore east of Barnegat,NJ it sank in a bad storm in 1961,killing the crew that was manning it. The wreckage I understand is a popular place for divers today...............................Mark
  17. I found a few pictures and explanation of what I was talking about, but it's "you know where" and God-forbid I don't want to piss the Hanks off and start that shit-storm again ! They are calling it a "Pennsylvania Double" if anyone wants to venture over there and check it out!...........................Mark
  18. That's exactly where I remember reading about it Al! something about CF "skirting" the rules because they were a major player in the trucking business back then?................................Mark

Lived in Jersey up till 5 years ago, used to the snow, but still tired of dealing with it!

  20. Brocky,do you remember that weird set-up CF had here on the east coast? if I remember correctly it was a long wheelbase single axle tractor with a pup attached to the frame, pulling a pup behind it more like a TRUCK and trailer, but not really! It had something to do with the length laws and doubles were not yet allowed this far east. I seen a few of them on the Jersey Turnpike when I was younger..................................Mark
  21. Many years ago,i was parked in a truckstop, was headed inside to take a shower and eat when a female Schnieder driver approached me said her truck wouldn't start (long enough ago it was an IH cabover with the set-back steer axle) "what's it doing I asked" "won't do ANYTHING she said" when I went to take a look, she handed me something wrapped in a rag she had found under the truck (it was the rod end cap and part of the connecting rod!) " Do you think this is a major problem"? can T/A fix this? "Is this piece important"? I had to laugh! And not that it's important to the story (But for Yardo and myself) I thought I'd mention it was a 60 series Detroit that blew up!................................Mark
  22. Don't think I ever saw a 4X4 MH in person,i did see a 4X4 Freightliner C.O.E (CF) pulling a set of pups out in Colorado many years ago..................................Mark

  25. I "Googled" the name Ken,and evidently she is Sandy Powell, from what I could gather, she did some sort poster promotion for Mack, but I never heard of her?...................................Mark
