I do a little grocery shopping while on the road (don't care much for truckstop food or prices) and it NEVER fails, everytime I get in line to checkout, one of these freeloading assholes is in front of me,wanting to buy something with EBT,Foodstamps,WIC vouchers,or a two party, post dated out of state check,or some other bullshit that IS NOT on the "approved list" ie; Beer,Cigarettes,Wine, ready made food etc. I wish Wal-Mart,Publix,Food-Lion,and all other food retailers would open an "I work for a living,i have MONEY line" for those of us that would like to leave the store before its time for another shave! I get so sick and tired of hearing these retards bitching about" How dey boughted cigarettes here last weeks, why I ain't I buy em dis week?" "why cants I buys beer,my baby daddy in prison, when he get out,you bees in trouble!" makes you want to slap the living shit out of someone! then they look at you, like it's your fault they can't get their shit together, when we're the people PAYING for your "free shit"!.........................Mark (tired and hungry)

1947 LJ Mack restoration
vision386 replied to Dan Durantini's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
An LJ sleeper is deff.worth saving! not many left in any condition!...............................................................Mark -
I suspect the air compressor governor as well, relatively easy fix too, should be 100-120 Psi.max if functioning properly. Had a similar problem on my CX not too long ago (governor plus a stuck pop-off valve on the primary air tank) changed both and that cured the problem. Probly a good idea to service the air-dryer too,if the trucks been neglected as you stated........................................Welcome aboard BTW!...............Mark

Holy Mackerel! this RS was in the old "American Trucker" magazine many years ago,one of my absolute alltime favorite trucks! I didn't even know it still existed! if this isn't the same truck,it's pretty damn close! IIRC,the story was about 3 guys (maybe brothers?) that went partners in the trucking business, the other two trucks were "Brand-X" (pete and KW I believe) this one had Mad-Dog on the license plate,V-8,and I think a 5X4? not sure on that, but i'd be willing to bet this is the same truck! Made my day to see it! if I could have gotten empty earlier,i would have been there!...............Mark

Matt,i was thinking the same thing, young kid owned the truck I think? holy shit! they sure effed that thing up! way too much BS for me!,but then personally never cared for much of what they did on that TV show.....................................Mark

I agree as well! I also grew up in/on trucks and most back then didn't have A/C, power-steering,air-ride, etc.but I didn't "live" in the truck like now. My Dad's 72 White-Freightliner C.O.E was the first truck I remember with factory A/C (still no power-steering) new breed is definitely spoiled! a days work in a "real" truck prolly kill most of them! (provided they could figure out how to start or shift it!).........................................Mark

Un-fortunately for us Mack guys the U-Models are the rarest and hardest to find, they still turn up occaisionally for a reasonable price, but don't hold your breath! JT,i had the Generals, but traded them for other trucks years ago! Not much selection for Generals (toywise) Monogram made sone neat snap-together kits,AMT also made a nice kit, only thing I know still in production are some HO size tractors in various colors.....................Mark

Some nice pictures Tom! I checked them all out, where was that Bighorn wrecker from? don't remember seeing that one before. I agree about the highbinder,i'd love to drive something like that once,if for nothing more then to be able to say "yeah,i drove one!"..............................Mark

Thinking about grabbing this rig
vision386 replied to tkobes43's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Tom,if you can get it right,my opinion it's worth saving, don't see many R-Models with sleepers come up for sale anymore.Looks like its mostly complete, most of what I see missing is not that hard to come by.I bet that was a damn sharp truck in its day! I like it!.................Mark -

Ah,the Paymaster! pretty big flop! I been doing a little reading up on them, kinda interesting story actually! most were powered by the "Nine-O-Nothin'" (VT-903 Cummins) supposedly a lot of them ended up in Chicagoland? I never knew there was a sleeper version offered till just recently.......................Mark Pictures courtesy dailydieseldose.com
