  2. Lucky! Pam's a real nice lady in person,i met her and had a short chance to chat a few years back at the motorsports expo in Valley Forge, got one of her pictures with the famous shorty-shorts/ go-go boots hanging up in my toyroom................sad about Jim,never met the man,but admired his showmanship, and willingness to accomodate his fans, remember seeing the pictures and reading about the crash in the Phila. Inquirer, much too young for sure.......................Mark
  3. You go first, let me know how you make out!........................................Mark
  4. Gotta agree with that! i was thinking it was probly a Cummins or CAT with the single exaust............................................Mark

  8. i had one bad experience with the Harbor tunnel in a truck, back when i started at Atlas Van Lines,we had four single axle F-models,all identical specs.237,5 speeds etc.that were sold and being replaced with White Road Commanders,3 were sold to COVAN moving systems down in GA, but our branch office in Mannassas,VA wanted one for a "yard dog" and me being new volunteered to drive it down from Jersey (bobtail) and bring back a KW cabover that had been re-posessed from an Owner-Operator. Well, trip did'nt start out bad, till i got to Baltimore and the tunnel,i hit a pothole so hard just before entering the tube, that the passenger side door popped open! and of course they were working on the tunnel,so it was two-way traffic in the tube! i could'nt stop (safely) could'nt see shit! on the right side with the door open, and mirror screwed up,so i had no idea how close i was to the side of the tunnel wall! lucliky i got through all right, only needed a change of shorts! came out the other side, got stopped, and shut/strapped the door closed, and was on my way.Gotta say it scared the living shit outta me at the time,i still don't like going through that tunnel,i try and run 50/301 whenever possible...................................Mark
  9. Mike,do you know if the dual headlights were a factory option on the Hayward F-Models? only place i've ever seen them is on this truck, and another one like it in Overdrive................................Mark
  10. I used to see a guy on U.S.13 in Delaware with an FWD C.O.E similar to the one pictured,i caught up with him one day down at Moneys truckstop on 301,and struck up a conversation about the truck,IIRC it had been bought new by the Harrington? or Greenwood?,DE fire dept.and was used to pull their tanker trailer,8V-71 Greenleaker,13 speed, etc. the man bought it when it was replaced by a newer truck, the one thing that stuck with me was the cab was ALL steel, this thing musta weighed a ton! may still even be around,i don't know. It was all dark green with some fancy gold pinstiping, and dual straight-pipes prolly the only FWD cabover i remember seeing in person.......................................Mark
  11. Exactly Tom,you explained it better than i would, its not as complicated as it sounds though Jakebrake86.................................Mark
  12. Thats just what i was gonna say! truthfully,i think now i'd be hard pressed to get a clean shift using the clutch!......................................Mark
  13. Mike,is that the factory wheelbase on this one? or has it been stretched? just curious, seems like it would be a Western with that long of a wheelbase.........................................Mark
  14. These are some really great pictures Paul! i am sure enjoying seeing them,i especially like the picture of "Fast Eddie" Rickenbacker, one of my childhood heroes,a man i still admire till this day!.................................................Mark
  15. Never been too sure how long they keep the small delivery trucks,i think they call them "package cars" but i saw one not too long ago,and it had a Diamond-Reo horn button on the steering wheel. Personally,i never seen a used ex-UPS truck, but not saying they don't exist. One thing that stayed with me,made me think twice about UPS,was years ago i saw a very bad accident envolving a UPS MH and a bridge abutment,UPS's "safety guy" was spraypainting over all the lettering/decals etc. and they had'nt even gotten the guy out of the cab yet, more worried about bad publicity then their driver? kinda pissed me off when i saw it,have'nt used UPS since.......................................Mark
  16. You may have posted it before and i missed it,but what are the specs. engine/ trans etc.?....................................Mark

  20. Sign guy a drinking man? LOL!.....................................Mark
  21. Mike,a 5 and a 4 are pretty easy once you get the hang of it,getting to be a lost art. Only thing thats confusing (to me anyway) is after driving a Mack trans. everything is backwards, with a 5X4 the main is close, and the aux. is far away, takes some getting used to!.................................Mark
  22. A good many greenhorns i see today would benefit from just such a program!.......................................Mark
