  1. Probably the only one i ever saw in person, outside a truck show that was still being used, and the ONLY one i ever saw in Jersey! took this back in 1973, a REAL Sterling, Model NCS 297,Waukashaw Gas inline 6,did'nt make note of the trans.,but it was two sticks, and sat on 12:00X24 rubber, owned by C.W. Young & Co. house/machinery movers Mays Landing ,NJ.............................................Mark
  2. I think the R-Series is my favorite classic IH,next to the Emeryvilles!......................................Mark
  3. Gotta give the old timers credit! it must have been a pure joy to run two sticks,no a/c, no power steering,no radio etc. through NYC traffic on any given day!................Mark
  4. Looks just like the one in my CX,only mine has the "new" style Mack logo, they were optional in the 100th annniversary CX's i can also take a picture of mine if it helps....................................Mark
  5. I remember seeing a few KW's at Englishtown,one that i liked,the green single axle,it was done-up "old school" if i remember correctly,it was a 262 Cummins,4X4 Trans,neat little truck! not too sure about the other one,goobered up a little too much for me!..............Mark
  6. You're sure right Joe! i'm too old and brittle to stand an ass-beatin' now!................................Mark
  7. I have to agree on the placement (or lack of) on the bulldogs, one of my pet peeves is when someone has one for sale,or are talking about a truck with one in it,its C-U-M-M-I-N-S Cummins engine not " Cummings" always bothered me i don't know why!.............Mark
  8. Al,you needing a partner in this "business" ? just askin' is all!............................................Mark
  9. Believe it or not,the longer it is,the easier it is to back up,i can't back up one of those 20 foot containers to save my ass!....................................Mark

  17. Sure was! had the black "broomhandle" shifter, and only travelled about an inch between gears! we had 7 speed spicers in our IH S-Series straighttrucks when i worked for Atlas Van Lines that were actually pretty decent!.................................Mark
  18. I'm thinking that was probly the reason i took that picture,i liked the color scheme!..............................Mark
  19. Jersey sure started this crap! i guess they thought they were being "cute" some of the smoke-test trucks have the "Grim Reaper" painted on the sides! causing a lot of problems, and costing the South Jersey Dump truck guys who run older trucks a TON of money to get up the acceptable "smoke standards"..................................Mark
  20. And last but not least is this turd! my old boss's White Road Boss II Formula 290 Cummins,5 speed direct,on springs. What a P.O.S this thing was! only way it could have spent more time in the shop, was if it had been powered by a Green Leaker! I drove this once, when the R-Model was in the shop for a front end allignment, only thing it had going for it was a kick-ass air-conditioner!....................................Mark
