  1. LOL,and the guys I work with tell me I'm old school
  2. You probably know this, but maybe to much idle time,I know on the older engines if they idle to much it will cause oil or fuel to seep out of the manifold gaskets.
  3. Barry, thanks I received my order today along with my shirt.
  4. Nice looking rig, what are ya hauling with that bad boy.
  5. OK I ordered a little something, the order form worked very good and moved very quickly from start to finish,
  6. Barry, I tried the link and it doesn't work for me.
  7. I know that this might sound crazy but are you sure the noise is coming from the trany and not one of the rears most likely the front rear.I once had a six speed that I thought was blown it made a heck of a racket but only when you let off or down shifted, turned out to be the front rear.
  8. Wow I thought you guys would be jumping all over this, where else can you buy Mack parts especially B Model parts on line except for e-bay and then your not really sure what your gonna get.
  9. I would first remove that paper sticker before you do any serious cooking also better to elevate it off the burner a bit.
  10. Sounds great, what kind of payment options are you thinking about.
  11. Looks great, keep the pictures of your progress coming.
  12. Wow very nice,a lot of work to say the least, congrats to you and you daughter, the memories will last a lifetime.
  13. I think bigdog is talking about going from four six volt to two 12 volt for a total of two batteries, you can do that I've used just two 12 volt in my plow truck witch was an old dm and it started fine even in very cold weather,if it's a truck that you are gonna use every day your better of with four batteries, they will last longer, for a play truck you'll be fine with two.
  14. Thanks to everyone for all the input,I'm pretty sure I,m gonna go with the dynaflex rather then try to stick something in the pipe,I know the dynaflex will fit in the limited space I have and it will quiet it down a little, maybe just enough to make driving the truck more enjoyable while still having a nice sound to it.I still have a few more things to do to the truck before work starts but when I get to the exhaust I'll post back here with a few pictures and let you all know what I think of the dynaflex.Rob I agree the muffler with a nice guard and chrome top stack looks great,I just don't have room to fit the muffler.
  15. Rob, you can go with straight pipes if you want,I love the look of the crome straight pipes but driving all day the noise gets to be annoying especially in a dump truck with all the stop and go and accelerating thru the gears thats why i was looking at the dynaflex it's got that nice clean look of a straight pipe, but I can't find any info on the actual sound reduction,I might have to take a chance and order one and hope for the best.
  16. I did a search on line and read up on them a little, they state on there web site that you can only use them if you have duel exhaust so I guess back pressure is a problem with single exhaust.
  17. Thanks for the info, but what is a qp internal muffler, never heard of them,do they add a lot of back pressure, thats what Im looking for not to loud. Also could you tell me how much they cost. Thanks
  18. Doe's anyone here have any experience with dynaflex mufflers,I'd like to hear your thoughts on the sound reduction of these mufflers as compared to a straight pipe,I'm running a straight single 5 inch pipe on my 96 cll only because there is not enough room for a regular muffler between the cab and the dump body and I'm not real crazy about installing anything under to cab. Thanks in advance for any help.
  19. Nice, are they gonna add a third axle or did someone order it as a ten wheeler.
  20. Ok I just checked in my Mack manual for my 83 RD and it says to use EO-K single or multi grade engine oil,it doesn't give any other options.
  21. I can't answer that question but when I bought my first truck many years ago a 1970 DM800 the owner told me to use motor oil for the power steering, the guy owned a pretty big truck Co so I figured he knew what he was talking about, never, had a problem with it,and never replaced the pump, I ran that truck for 15 years. So I still use it today in all my trucks.
  22. Do you have the belt drive pump with the round filter in it,if so that filter can be cleaned in gas or solvent, try cleaning it before you do anything else,I always used motor oil in the power steering.
  23. First you have to remember the trans gears are always spinning the faster the truck is going the faster the gears are spinning,to down shift you need to raise the rpm of the engine to match the tran speed, when you get it just right the gears will mesh together. Practice makes perfect
  24. Niceguy, please don't be offended by my previous post ,I was just stating a fact .
  25. You guys kill me,you can't get blood from a stone, leave it alone if you want more power buy a bigger motor. The 237 is a sweet running motor and maybe the best motor mack ever built, thats just my opinion and I ran a 237 for a number of years and was very happy with it's performance.
