  1. think I would have changed it over to a 12 volt starter instead of rebuilding a 24 volt one and eliminated a lot of issues and connections in the series parallel switch but to each their own. and yes the ring gear is replaceable like he said if its still available
  2. everyone makes fun of my rookie bars made out of 3/4 inch water pipe welded to the end of the bumper but that's what my grear grandfather did back in the day. also wouldn't buy a chrome radiator shell or new front bumper to save his ass . said,,'' the guys will only wreck or smash it anyways and im not buying anything that cant make me money''
  3. call me weird but I kinda think it looked better in the older colors...
  4. the trailer is really rough haha. probably shouldn't even be on the road but we use it. its a 53 Lacrosse and I think originally had the 8 tires across the back and someone replaced that axle with a standard one.im looking for a nice vintage fixed neck lowbox but im thinking I want a tandem axle one.
  5. I watched that video about 10-15 years ago on vhs, that's before DVD's Vinny. the guy was named Charlie Santmire(sp)? he was testing out a brand new plow back then in Tug Hill or up higher above Lowville and to the west
  6. yup, shiny bumper girl gets my vote but im kinda drawn to A myself...... the little B with the dumpbox is pretty sweet also
  7. makes me sad lol. had my eye on this truck for years but as always funds are short when its on the auction block haha
  8. yup def lack of chains there. we always use 5 chains min on loaders and 4 on dozers. think Ny Dot requires 4 chains min on bigger loads and on small loads, say like a skidsteer, two chains are fine but the binders have to be on the driver side so it can be seen by a passing cop. never heard of the blade facing rearward either but I do always cover the stacks with anything, even an old milk jug if I have nothing else around.
  9. NYS Dot has pretty much gone to all Macks for plow trucks also. state bid and a lot of towns have them also from state bid. some are 2-3 years off and make me cringe, look like they never get washed.
  10. what size tires are you running on the front? I like the wider tire look. seems it was petty common to see B61ST or ''short tractor'' trucks with no front brakes also
  11. told you guys I couldn't stand glen about 50 stupid posts ago. hes a lurker who HAS to comment on EVERYTHING anyone posts
  12. a 22.5 wont fit on a 22'' wheel....... and good luck finding 1100 22's or 1000 22's anywhere. youll have to go with 11.24.5's as a replacement
  13. I dunno whats more impressive, you still having sex after all these years, or you managing to do it in a suite with small and medium and large on vacation in the same room......
  14. wow that is nice. figured that was one of Doug Fetterly's bumpers. does that truck not have front brakes? just wondering because you see a lot of the rim and the tires look wider on the front. did you put wider radials on the front? just wondering.
  15. i dunno but that red triaxle dumptruck Tim posted is mean looking! theres just something about it. so I assume the chassis mounted cooler was the reason for the angled headlites in the DM hood Kscarbel?
  16. must be a little more lax in ct than upstate ny? we cant blow or throw snow off bridges, cant even blow or plow snow INTO the Mohawk river from an above bridge, but can spend money to truck it, dump it on the river bank and ''let nature take its course'' letting it melt into the river. unreal.
  17. yup, all done, gonna drive it without a hood and the windows taped off.... wtf?
  18. look at the bright side, after all these years, your still having sex......
  19. when exactly did they get rid of the steel hood/nose option Kscarbel? always wondered that. also whats the difference between the Mack installed one and the Ward installed one?
  20. pretty hard to put back on a truck after they hacked the tabs off the side for the hood latches.
  21. I agree. was a time I bought a few complete trucks with solid cabs for $100 and $200 a piece.. ah the good old days
  22. I wanna do the same thing with a B model radiator shell Vision but If that guy is serious about the $650 price tag for a RARE shell im gonna start sellin mine off. I must have at least two dozen radiator shells around in various shapes. if I can get that ridiculous price for them im gonna buy a new house. id give 650 if it was nice and chrome though.....
  23. pretty sure Doug Fetterly use to or might still have chrome Dayton rims on the back of hisB61 integral sleeper truck. I have seen a set recently for sale in Double clutch or ebay and they went fast
  24. Bartnick had an old Indiana tow truck they just donated to a museum I think in iowa or tenessee? they also had the B model back in the day that w have. then they had two R models and got rid of those and had a Pete or two. they are downsizing and slowly closing the doors. guess they have been in business long enough and theres too much competition up that way. when we bought their old B42/61 from another guy,we stopped there and asked if they wanted it back, the kids reply with,'' HELL NO, we rode enough in that cold SOB with no heat.'' I don't know who ended up with their R models but they were really rotted from all the years of NY salt. they have tons of pictures , some gorey ones also as any tow company does of wrecks. even a few of our old B42/61 that shows it entering Indiana towin a truck so they must have done long distance hauling back in the day also. have not been there in years, not sure what they have left.
  25. nice pictures guys. I tried to make it but too much going on this year and tryin to get rady for winter. ugh.... I really lke that blue B61 with the heavy front axle. looked it over high and low at Gerharts, really nice truck.
