  1. been doing plumbing on and off now for about 15 years. had plenty of stubborn joints in my day also and did plumbling and service work for a modular home builder for 12+ years. couldn't ever get them to quit using copper and use pex even when it went thru the roof. I use to use a scrap piece of romex wire with two sheet rock screws to fasten pipes for years and years.. damn state inspecter didn't care for it one year, I got in an argument over that and using a sanitary tee horizontal. next thing I knew I was layed off haha. go figure? had plenty of argument over know it alls screwin up the hot on left, cold on the right thing to when you IN the tub or facing it. sucks being so smart sometimes haha
  2. no shit ,never knew. thought when the Superdog came out it became the new R700
  3. new one to me, I guess it could have been custom ordered tan. the tan wheel looks common tho with power steering and the worn out small shaft. seen one B57 in my day and was a tri axle dump also in Westmoreland Ny years ago. it to had a beige wheel.
  4. yup, Mutt, Mack cab and hood and don't think they made a R700 in 1979.. would have been a Superdog by then
  5. yup I agree, never cared for the R model cabbed Brockways. any 360 or 361 would be nice even with a green leaker in it.
  6. could always weld 3/4 water pipe with pipe caps to your bumper like my B model Vinny...
  7. yup Doug has them in Stainless for around a grand, had the cow catcher to. think the snowplow place up there is stamping them out for him. I have put a few on B's. they are good quality, they need some finesse hear and there but they are better than bent. his don't have the angle iron welded in the back where the carriage bolts go so that's a good thing, the rust doesn't get between them, just have to use a 1/4 shim between the bumper bracket and bumper. I think he also has the brackets themselves remade
  8. unless it was a Ford with a 6.0, you might have to use Shoeleather Express to get home. looks like the waste of a really solid cab to me and R model solid cabs are getting like hens teeth
  9. yea,,, and land son top the cab with a big dent lol. lookin good Vinster, I take it the hubs will be red? I like bias ply. my B61 with radials rides like a lumber wagon. no give in the steel radials, if only we could still get 10.00 22 tube type still! ugh!
  10. while we are on the subject how about going to put air in a budd wheel and finding out some asshole put the inside valve stem in between the hand holes where you cant get to it??? ran into that the other day when it was a mere 97 degrees out!
  11. yup that red truck has the standard non turbo style air cleaner. that's the one that the pipe plug usually leaks on top and the water leaks thru and rots out the steel wool part of the filter in the bottom. my B613 when we got it had a 413 in it with the air cleaner on top of the engine, someone took the outside air cleaner and cut all the filter guts out of it so its an empty can. could probably do that with yours and just go to Napa and have them measure the canister for a paper filter and forget the oil.
  12. disk brakes on a bigger truck. who would have thought. I know where I use to work we had a 80's or early 90's GMC dump truck(the square style) with a 10 foot box on it that had disk rear brakes. what a pain in the ass when you spin the rims on the hub and end up with two flat tires cause of the broken valve stems.
  13. was gonna say the same thing Mike. aluminum fron ?BLT bumper and the 55 gallon pass tank id kill to get my hand on.
  14. looks like a direct in 5th duplex Al haha. I don't see the taddle tale writing on the bottom of the tag sayin DO NOT USE 5th in LOW!!!!
  15. looks like an R609 to me. exactly the same as mine with a 711 and a Duplex. probably an add on Mack turbo after the fact. nice fifth wheel to, looks like it came off a tandem Mack with the peeks for the trunion bar. and you can see the duplex shifting pattern on the dash. sweet.
  16. usually the filter crumbles because after years the 1/4 plug on top leaks water and the water drips through and gets into the oil and ''perculates'' in the sun. if the filter on the bottom is bad and crumbling(the removable one on the bottom about an 1 1/2 thick) it had most likely taken on water. Mack used at least 3 different types of air cleaners on B models. the smaller one used on a B42 thru B61 non turbo then one that looked the same but had a bigger body on it and then the third is the turbo type with the bonnet on top and heavy duty bracket. we need a picture to show us what type of air cleaner you have. Watts and tidewater Mack used to sell one from Donaldson that replaced the oil bath turbo type with a paper filter on the turbo type air cleaner. this is an easy change as you just need to drill two more mounting holes in the bracket and bolt it up. (ive tried but couldn't get the 4'' hose to line up straight without droppin the air cleaner down and drillin two new holes for the top band)
  17. maybe not good for an over the road tractor but my grandfathers B62SX's with 464's and 72 series 20 speed quads were some brutes in the mud. would walk a B61 like it was standing still to. they stuck with big gas power up here in Ny for the longest time because the old diesels wouldn't start for shit in the winter and the gas jobs had more grunt. least the bigger overhead gas engines did. the little 401's were boat anchors.
  18. didn't that Blue and Black Brockway use to say ''Stik Mixer'' on the cow catcher or is that another truck im thinking of? yup,was a little soggy there. had to watch where you drove.
  19. could have done a BMT photo. there was 4 or 5 of us there. the Blue Brockway has a aluminum body. said he bought it from Pa DOT, they were gonna scrap it.
  20. odd lookin fuel tank on the driver side of those U models to Vinny....
  21. that's a nice TA right there Jt. cant find many 76-81 Camaros up here in New York state anymore. if the rot didn't get them, they got turned into dirt track cars for Fonda Speedway
  22. probably back then they had some ''grass'' below the belt to. don't see that now a days haha.
  23. nope . Every B model I have ever seen that was original had a Briggs and Stratton key. dunno why. the Mack logo keys came out in the late 60's with the R models I think
  24. speechless myself. these clowns ought to try driving a truck for a living if they wanna be a big rigger. that wouldn't straighten them out. drove my B about an 3 hour round trip to a show in Syracuse on sunday. was 95+ degrees out and probably 110+ in the cab and could have sworn I had a sticker on the front bumper that said '' go ahead and pull out in front of me, then turn off 1/4 mile up the road, I can stop on a dime''. after a while I cant stand listenin to my work truck run and rattle anymore. damn Superduty Fords are so loud when I go thru the drivethru at Mcdonalds I have to shut it off so they can hear me. then you have these idiots putting big stacks on them. on a side note, there use to be a Geo Metro in our town that the guy had a cylinder mounted to the front bumper and a front snow blade and he actually plowed his driveway with it......
  25. the Van craze is over?? is just seen an old Chevy Van with a mural painted on the side going thru town the other day! couldn't believe my eyes. just listened to Sammy Johns Chevy Van song the other night on youtube actually haha. there was a 60's Ford econoline Van at the Longbranch Park truck show the other day. damn thing was sweet.
