  1. yup, i have 2 of the flame ones tucked away somewhere. and the breaks wind like a bulldog one,. dont think i remember the wine glass one but id like one haha
  2. i just wish the bastards wouldnt have changed the freakin threads! i must have 10 GOOD old style Blitz or whatever 6 gallon round cans that you cant find tops for. the good tops that use to have the foot of rubber hose on them.
  3. the 413 wedge in the R models was the industrial version tho. i think the hotrod car and truck version has extra rod bolts that actually went thu the block into the mains?? someone here probably knows.
  4. least with a Detroit in a boat, you can always turn around and follow the oil trail in the water back home..... never get lost
  5. nice old truck. pretty sure its a DM tho. got the age old bug deflector to keep the passengers windshield clean to haha
  6. 237 is junk?? boat anchor? wtf they were one of the best low end grunt engines ever made. haulin 35 tons? should try doin that with a 673 and get back to me. youd shift an old 673 so much youd have calluses in the palms of your hands...
  7. i think i was able to buy a grommett kit from Watts before but it didnt come with the big grommet and thats the one thats usually shot! think i reused mine and put something on the inside of the firewall painted black to cover the draft hole. couldnt find a grommet. was gonna use a body grommet from a car but they looked too ugly
  8. yup orange flames haha lol nice. anyone have a clue where i could find a new set of those big round lollipop turn signals like that EF has??
  9. while we are on this topic, anyone know of a source for that big firewall grommett that the main harness goes thu?? id like to stock up on about 10 of them haha. they were also used on later B models down near where the starter button would go thru the firewall on a gas job B for runnin air lines i think. the early B cabs didnt have this second bigger hole.
  10. i see lock 17 in Little Falls Ny in your pictures. the highest lift lock of its time, biggest drop. its on the BARGE canal, not the Erie. the Erie canal is long filled in mostly thru NYS. people just like to live off the name. there are very few spots where the original Erie Canal is the Barge canal. they mostly filled it in to make room for the newer deeper wider Barge canel. the NyS thruway takes care of it nowadays and and thats a total joke. nothin gets done, very little dredging,( god forbid the tree huggers let you), theyd rather have a flood that takes out a small village or two than disturb a garbage box elder tree or take sand off the bottom of the canal. lol just my rant, sorry haha
  11. yup and an END673T was nothin compared to the ENDT673B or C engines
  12. F series in upstate NY is nowhere near a solid truck after a few winters, along with the Dodge pickups they are rot wagons and Gm is in 3rd place. diesel powered ones will run forever but its hard to get your money out of them in this salty climate they way they waste, pour the salt on the roads. kinda makes you sad to work for years to pay a truck off only to have to buy another cause its rotted out.
  13. would be nice for female truck drivers with short skirts and no undies lol. (dragging mind out of gutter now) whole new meanin to Sightliner
  14. location?
  15. sold? last you told me you had someone comin to give you a price for fixin the frame and you were keepin it now...
  16. can always count on you Mike for the little tidbits! haha
  17. Yup! sweet truck and theres that funky ass grab handle like ive seen before! i knew Mack used them. i have seen them on early R models to
  18. B model tank on that Western R model??? theres something i have never seen
  19. yup, would have to agree looks like some sort of a heater. i have scrapped and taken apart and put together many many b models and never seen anything like that on one before.
  20. i know my grandfather had a '65 R410 with a wedgeblock 413 and 18 speed baby quad and 44 rears on camelback. compared to the B42's everyone said it was an animal. when we bought my B613 it had a 413 wedgeblock someone put in it. i still have it on a stand on the garage floor. its brand new with 100 miles on it. Keith.... i forget his name has a really nice R410P. least he did. i sold him the 5 speed and 3 speed auxillary out of my B613 to put in his R model. there is an R410 that shows up at Balston spa everyone once ina while to, its pristine. the same guy owns the decked out B model wrecker he bought at the National truck show auction a few years back i think in south bend. my B475 firetruck has a 354 Hemi in it with i think a clark or spicer transmission and rockwell rear end. have opened up the hood on a few B and early R models and found 318 road oilers stuffed in there to. Mack also put the POS 475 scania in some early R and DM models. BTW whats up with the plate under the bulldog mount on that R with the Road oiler in it???
  21. yup, cant beat a 7.3. our 99 F350 at work has about 250,000 on it, probably more since the speedometer has not worked in two years. put a new box side and tailgate and rockers on it, the frame and tranny is about shot but the engine runs like new. ona side not has the trusty junk 6.0 BACK to the dealer today after spendin $2100 on new injectors and plugs last week and $1400 on a new FICA module last year. did test drive a brand spankin new 6.7 liter lariat today that id like to talk the boss into buying. what a powerhouse. sweet truck to. they even offered to give use 15 grand for the junk 6.0 with 125,000 on it and a worn out v plow.
  22. which one of John Montville's books was the write up about the crash? im sure i have it, maybe i overlooked it?
  23. yea, a cast iron B model will replace that one. Mack used the same bolt pattern on the hangers and crossmembers, just some holes werent drilled. id like to find a set of those hangers in aluminum but they are like hens teeth. ive seen the cast hangers worn right out myself let alone the aluminum one. my grandfather B42T i think is on its second or third set of cast hangers on the ditch side and only has 195,000 miles on the clock. lets say they loaded the poor thing for all it was worth back in the day, even has a D8 on a lowboy behind it a few times when she wasnt haulin coal with a Galion trailer..
  24. bought some that have a teal tah on the top they are named HiTech's. got them from my local Mack dealer when i started driivng my B61 4 years ago. they are the hottest battery i think i ever seen. never looks at the crankin amps but i put one in a B42 and it spun the little flathead over faster than anything i have ever seen lol
  25. same with antifreeze, i remmeber when it was about 2 bucks a gallon, now its around 17 cause it has PETROLIUM in it. ugh. bought a pail of bulldog gear oil for my triplex last spring, think it was 100 bucks. we usually buy hytran from John Deere for the equipment at work in 55 gallon drums, talk about ouch
