  1. makes you wonder how starved that air compressor is when the engine is suckin every last bit of air in. never likes the air compressor tapped into the intake tubing. i changed it on my 711 and put the filter back on the compressor
  2. id drive it, take a left, out to 205, go south, head in the back way haha
  3. another picture of the same truck. had a peice of rebar welded thru the bumper for a step and log bunks welded into the sides of the box. he was the first one around to haul logs in a dumptrucks. we still have the frame to this truck. after this pic, the driver wrecked it brand new and Mack got them a new frame and the old frame has sat in the weeds at my grandparents since 1955
  4. Diesels would never start back then in the Ny winters.. he only had one B61, all the rest were B62's and B42's
  5. shitty picture but heres my Great grandfathers brand new 1955 B62SX 464 on 22'' rubber with a Cresci box, with 5 speed and 3 speed brownie . (dont think he could get a quadbox til 56) haulin wood in Long Lake Ny to the ''big wooden bowl''. where they use to make wooden bowls and the wooden forks and stuff for cookin i think?
  6. yea, dump box is more than welcome here in New York.....
  7. dunno my B61 with 711 and triplex and 4.00 rear end will do about 78 haha. passed a few trucks here and there on the way to the show in Springfield and back and look over and see them shakin their heads. especially on some of the hills on the Mass pike that get you slowed right down after passin some new truck at 75 miles an hour. haha . talked to a few guys at the show who seen my cousin and i on the road and they go'' jesus, i never seen two B models go that fast!''. my cousin is runnin a B68T with a 237 turned up so she smokes black backed by a 18 speed double over quad with 4.28 gears in a posi rear end. trust me, it will smoke both back tires haha.
  8. check out the size of the fifth wheel on that thing...
  9. the Macungie show isnt like the Springfield national show. at the Nationals they ask you to come early and when you leave, leave pretty much. they dont really want you driving you truck around for insurance reasons i think. you can come and go as you please at macungie i think. not a big deal, i dont think they want us convoying around the park but if your like me and gonna drive you truck down, obviously you need it for transportation to and from the motel and to eat.... and the beer store..... i know Mr Fetterlyand I are gonna have to have a few cold water sanwiches sometime...
  10. yup, i have that one to. asked for it for x mas the year it came out. specified the GREEN one as i think they offered a white one to.
  11. i bought the chrome top, didnt even price an aluminum one. only needed one box as i put two hot 12's in in paralell but wanted the old school look so i put one on the other side. useful for holdin beer , i mean stuff..
  12. been going to Macungie since about 1991 but this is the first year im bringing a truck. think its about time i took my B61 back to allentown for the first time since 1959
  13. wow. guess i got a good deal. paid 150 a peice for my bottoms and 100 a piece for my chrome tops for my B model. got them from Cook Brothers Mack in Binghamton Ny. has to make brackets to clear the air tank to put the R model box on but it looks nice. pass box is just for storage, or a 30 pack for truck shows, just happens to fit perfect .......... you see them on ebay from time to time cheap. someone must have bought a shitload of them. wish i bought the stack or original B model boxes that Tidewater Mack had at Macungie back in 94'. make me cry
  14. love that movie. have to watch it everytime its on, looks like hotrod B81 to. has pleated door panels and headliner i believe
  15. yea, read that wrong and wrote it wrong as well haha, sorry guys. the 711 had 5'' bores and the 673 and 673 had 4 7/8 i believe and no 711's were turbo from the factory although there seem to be alot more showin up lately so Mack must have retorfitted quite a few of them.
  16. to my knowledge no 711's left the factory with turbos and its pretty inpossible for a 711 and 673 to have the same pistons.... the 673 had a 4 7/8 's bore and the 711 and 237 had a 5'' i believe
  17. nope, no one needs help here.. no computer toughasses on this site like the Hanks site.... cough cough
  18. never was a fan of any of the Renault shit or the Midliners. not really Macks to me but i guess they served their purpose , kinda like a B42 haha. made my reservations at the Hawthorne suites the other night and plan on driving my B from Ny that friday morning and stayin friday and sat and leavin sunday morning. have the fiance' with me and lets say shes not a fan of Hooters or tk's haha. might have to skip that part. would love to go visit any of the old mack buildings tho from the B model days if anyone knows how to get to them or if they re still standing.
  19. im actually headed out that way. if we go by ill stop and get some pictures to
  20. yup, west end across the street from Napa. out behind a resturant. the L model is early, in the 40's . stopped and looked at it a about 3-4 years ago when i sniffed out those B models. the L is something. never seen a tandem drive driving thru chains and sprockets between the budd wheels. must have taken forever to have to change an inner tire and have to take those chains and sprockets off.
  21. talked to an old guy at a local bar that said he drove a B63 tractor back in the day. said it would do 75 miles an hour and had a turbo 673 and a quad with power steering. dunno if its true or not. said after he got moved to another truck some young gun got it and it got away from him and he wrecked it. this truck was out of upstate Ny also. cant remember who he said he worked for tho
  22. Stumbled upon it? lol i looked at the truck a few years ago.sat in downtown Oneonta right around the corner from the old chevy dealer right? use to be a B68 there also but i think he scrapped it. cab was rough on one of them. my fiance' hates to go ridin around sometimes. she says i can smell them old Macks out in the middle of no where haha. ever check out that old L model Brian that sits by the abandoned train off rt 7 leavin oneonta (past the BBQ place) headin twards cobleskill? had budd wheels all around and sprockets in between the budds to power the back axle.
  23. got around 10'' of snow here so far at midnite
  24. seeing alot more automatics here in Upstate Ny as well. local truckin company here in town was strickly Peterjunk. owner bought a new Titan in the orange color and a driver wrecker it six months old. they also has so many problems with it that Mack gave them a loner truck, a CH or CL700 i think with an automatic. well after that he ordered 3 more last year then 3 more this year . Ch's with 450's and automatics. even the owner drove one himself for a few weeks. all the paccar guy who think they need to drive a peterbilt are mad but the owner says the fuel mileage with the automatics is alot better along with no clutch trouble and not having a transmission out ever week with the cowboys he has driving them. he has a fleet of around 30 trucks, 7 of them are Macks now
  25. in that case id like a B model, with air ride top mount tandems, dual air cleaners, 350 under the hood with a 12 speed Mack , a/c, cd player, an amp, stainless bumper and shell, louvered hood, sunvisor and two air ride seats......... its the internet after all...
