  1. i just cringe at all those beautiful Kentucky radiator B67's that probably came back to the US as a damn Pinto. not that i could fit my gut in a B67 anyways. i see they all have the long 75 gallon steel fuel tanks like St Johnsbury ran to. odd tank and it had a huge filler neck, not the little 2'' one like a standard B model tank.
  2. i dont have my truck in the driveway and its been a few months since ive put an engine in a B model but im almost positive you need to put the crossmember in so the cut outs for the nuts face the oil pan.
  3. bout damn time, now you just need to wire wheel it, paint it and get it a little greasy. we ALL know EVERYONE likes a little grease on their fifth wheel now and again. hahahahah
  4. i think its easier to say are the bolts in the front or the back of this crossmember.... in B62's and B68's with 540's and 464 i believe its the same crossmember just turned aound. in a B61 with 673 or 711 i believe the bolts, well nuts face the oil pan. in a gas job they face the radiator.
  5. looks like an old school fA601 front axle in that r model. no wishbone, just a snoop down... kinda like a B81 or heavy B61SX
  6. god is that a teazer. pretty much rust free B models. nothin like the junk we get left with up here in Ny state and wtf would someone let that Camaro sit for 20 years??? why not enjoy it. always wanted one, have an 86 Iroc Z28 with tpi never seen winter but would love to get my hands on a 67 Camaro someday. dunno, everyone has a 69 and i kinda prefer the 67-68's a little better
  7. yup, i know it. thats why my B613 had a B42 nose on it haha
  8. yup, thats the tube. pretty rare actually original as there was not that many B models least not in my area that were factory turbocharged
  9. yup, Schwerman used roadrangers behind Thermodynes as well as a few others. and the B67's has the one short strip on the side. the B65's i have seen had a little longer fender that a B67 and had all the strips on the side like a B61 but were crammed in and it had an aluminum hood. i had and sold a NOS driver fender for one to Kevin All a few years ago. it came from Red Star Express in Utica Ny as they ran B65's
  10. i remember M and G carriers as a kid around upstate ny. seems they has alot of ''inside shopping'' going on with the mechanics and drivers. probably a reason why they arent around anymore. guy up the road from us drove for them, never bought heating oil all winter for his garage or house. and his neighbor who drove truck for himself never bought a tire . they would strip the truck of all the good tires and drive right back to the Albany ny terminal for 18 new ones. and forget about chains. he sold them to everyone around. everyone in the neighborhood had a 5/16 chain with the three different automobile hooks on them. recall stories of the mechanics sellin brand new Detroits right off the shippin dock to. got ordered for replacement in a truck and never got there. dont think the cars on the trailer ever got to the dealer with any gas in them either haha. lots of bad apples out there. think they were running GMC Brigideers back then
  11. i agree. just got mine from Mack cause i was there. they are about impossible to tighten or loosen when they are the old 6 point.
  12. ex Mary Hitchings truck? look like her colors. she had a nice fleet in her lumber business that got sold off i believe a few years ago when she died. Dennis from OldMacks wound up with a few. single axle superdog and R700. she had some nice trucks, i think mostly cummins powered. even drove a two stick LJ late into her 70's
  13. you think that bolt is hard to get in by the oil pan?? you should try the one on the backside of the starter when the starter is on the top.and all the hoses. have to tape the damn bolt in the socket with a long extenstion behind the starter and have to go and buy the special 12 point bolts from Mack to ge them in there. thats definatelt a 2-3 beer to cool off after bolt
  14. looks decent. looks about 150 too high for me tho. have bought whole trucks for that much. maybe its just me but they all seem to be broke where the support strut is, most are dinged and dented and smashed in the back cowl area and a real bitch to drill the holes in the right spot to make it a Diesel hood but its workable. it does have one thing going for it, it came off a gas job so it wasnt chaffed and worn against the cab like most B61 hooods i have seen.
  15. item number 261135362574. B81 in Jersey. 864 V8 and 20 speed quad. looks nice shape
  16. i put a 42MT starter on my B613 with a 711 and its worked fine for 4 years now. i had to take the back loose with the allen screws and index it different so the solonoid on top cleaned everything but it works find. my truck has the later bellhousin like a 237 with the starter on top on the driver side which is a real pain in the ass ina B model. had to screw around to get the starter to cleaner the throttle linkage and the hoses for the big 750 lubrifiner and the steering column. if you have the older bellhousin with the starter underneith it shouldnt be a problem. the 42 mt will work but you might have to index it differently. most people are using the 39mt i believe.
  17. would like to have that truck myself as i have an excellent cab and 300+ and 10 speed Rr to put into it. just cant afford anymore right now. as of now i have the cab and engine and tranny set up in a single axle 66 R with a bad frame.
  18. that looks like someone has majorly cobified it. the original 673 turbo would have had a steel piece with an offset in it that went around the turbo and a short piece of hose on one end that connected to hose from air cleaner and an double 90 elbow on another end. i actually know good quality dryer vent will work. dunno how long it will hold up with the heat but it shouldnt melt and its 4''. i wouldnt use the vinyl stuff tho haha.
  19. yup thats what i thought, knew about the firetrucks being asslmbled elsewhere for a few years. didnt think any trucks were actually assembled in Plainfield. some of my early B models and tags say Mack Manufacturing , New York Ny, that was around 53-57. 58-65 they said Plainfield Nj and 65-66 they said Montvale Nj. after that i believe all the tags read Allentown.
  20. yup like Mike said, be easier to find a complete 44 cutoff. the housings are alot beefier and the earlier ones has the flat gussetts welded horizontal across the axle housing. have actually seen a few 38's bent so bad in b models that you couldnt see thru the other side with the hogs head removed. the old timers use to straigten them to.
  21. how i understood it also. No trucks were built in Plainfield at all , just the door tags were printed that way because thats where the offices and engine plant was. everything includin b model firetrucks except for a few years i thought were built in about 4 or 5 different buildings around Allentown.
  22. same here, never even knew they offered a bench seat for an R model. come to think of it i think Barry had a beige one for sale a while back. im buildin a 66 R 600 and would like it but like others said kinda takes up alot of room plus i think the other half would prefer an air ride pass seat
  23. in the shape that truck is in, 6500 isnt much at all. looks almost barn fresh.
  24. if i won i might have Matt Pfahl restore my firetruck for me haha. save me some time
  25. alot. the small is old school
